Steam Summer Sale 2011: Best community ever (every last one of you)

I used to own a Toyota T-100 (predecessor to the Tundra) that was a dark green. My wife nicknamed it "The Green Giant." Later on, we wound up purchasing a small Toyota Corolla that coincidentally was the exact same color. So obviously, its name had to be "Sprout".

(a reminder for anyone who's blanking...)

Guys and gals, this thread was awesome due to the posters, not some magical convergence of the thread itself. Make a new thread for the Christmas sale and I promise you that it will be just as cool as long as we let it.

I've got two Steam keys for Dirt 3 to anyone interested. I'm not sure how many people will check this thread in the next 2 days, but just in case we have more than 2 people who want Dirt 3, here's the mini-competition: tell me the best car name, and why.

The best car name in Dirt 3? Clearly the Hummer H3. Now don't get me wrong, the Hummer isn't all that great of a vehicle, but how can you not like something named Hummer? Being a great aficionado of hummers I'm naturally drawn to a car of that name. One day I'd like to drive a Hummer and have my wife hop in and say "Yo dawg, I heard you like Hummers...."

;)

Actually I was thinking any car name ever. Actual name of car. Nickname for a car. Anything you call a car.

But here's my entry:

Growler, as seen on Top Gear.

Obviously the Ayva Yoojkok. It's the name of an expensive sports car. Or a massive, gas guzzling truck. Your choice.

Oh, you asked for a REAL car? Then the Mazda LaPuta. If you don't speak spanish, here is the summary from wikipedia:

wikipedia wrote:

The car's name derives from the book Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift [1]. Similarly to the Nissan Moco and the Mitsubishi Pajero, the name is fortuituously unfit for Portuguese and Spanish-speaking countries, since "la puta" in Spanish means literally

Spoiler:

"the whore" ("moco" means "snot" or "booger" and "pajero" may be understood as "wanker" or "liar"

in some American countries).

Like the Chevy Nova urban legend, only more profane?

Agreed, +1, and what he said.

My apologies to any who are annoyed at my resurrecting this thread. It's just the one I thought of when I had these game keys, and I figured it everyone had it tagged (and I didn't know about the others).

In light of great responses, I'm going to pick 2 winners tomorrow morning (Pacific time). So about 16 hours to get your chance

Keep this up and Clocky will have to change this to the Thanksgiving Day sale thread.

Don't know if this is what you mean, but I had a roommate in college who called his little 1980's era Nissan "Lenis" because it rhymed with...

Or perhaps my wife's car (she calls it "Wanonda")....

I wish I had more than the 2 keys to give away, because everyone came up with some great stuff.

But sadly, there are only 2. Cobble & Minarchist, check your inboxes.

Thanks, StaggerLee!

And here I thought nobody could resist the tempting allure of the Growler.

yay, Thank you very much

I have to admit; that was pretty hilarious.

So, I wake up this morning, check my email and I see a steam gift of Alpha Protocol from TheHipGamer. Thanks dude, you're awesome!
