Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Catch-All

That works, too. I would also take "bland loyalty" in honor of the game being Japanese.

I guess I'm on a media blackout with this game. I'm not worried about spoilers, but I simply don't care to see anything about it. I'll buy it, day one, sight unseen, no questions asked. How's that for brand loyalty?

This is Zelda we're talking about, so I'd say it is par for the course.

Some basic Zelda info and more Skyward Sword info, too. From an interview, posted at Gonintendo:

  • Majora's Mask was done in Japan before localization in the states started
  • Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess both used simultaneous localization
  • there were some finer details in the story that were changed in these projects
  • Skyward Sword ties into Ocarina of Time
  • Nintendo fears that if they put out an official timeline, they'll be limited with future Zelda ideas
  • There is a a master document for the Zelda timeline, but it's kept under wraps
  • it contains overall plans for the series
  • Skyward Sword will be 'tremendously expansive'
  • Nintendo says there's nothing else like it as far as motion control goes
  • Looking at holiday release this year
  • More details on Golden Wiimomte and other info later on
  • More events and activities surrounding Zelda to come
  • Skyward Sword blends overworld and dungeon elements
  • more puzzle and exploration than before
  • Bill Trinen hasn't finished the game yet, but he believes it to be one of his favorite Zelda games ever
  • the Wii U tech demo doesn't necessarily show where Nintendo will go with Zelda on Wii U

Spoilerish points on Skyward Sword:

Spoiler:
  • Skyward Sword starts off in Skyloft
  • The game kicks off with a series of events that sets Link on an adventure below the clouds to save Zelda
  • the game involves lots of mystery elements, including why you can't quite catch up to Zelda when trying to rescue her
  • Link's female companion isn't the sword exactly, but a spirit in the sword
  • she guides Link on his adventure
  • Ghirahim is following Link at one point, but Link isn't aware of it
  • The E3 battle with Ghirahim is the first time Link comes in contact with him
  • You don't know why he is going after Zelda
  • there are a lot of new character races in Skyward Sword, more than what we've seen at E3
  • you will visit familiar places in Skyward Sword, but they may or may not be part of Hyrule

These bits have raised my interest in the game exponentially... as if I needed more!

Release date has been given

November 20 in the US. I wish it wasn't the same timeframe as Skyrim but I would rather have two fun games to play than none.

My money is on November 20th. The Sunday before Thankgiving. Nintendo loves releasing on that day in America.

Thank you very much.

Now, to reiterate, the Wii U WILL launch the Sunday before Thanksgiving, 2012, in North America.

Nicely done, mrtomaytohead. It's a day that makes sense, though, as it's right before the big spending spree that is the day after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, when the Bold Predictions for 2012 thread goes live, I'll be waiting to post my Wii U release date there since it seems most people are happy being oblivious to Nintendo's releasing habits. I honestly wish they would push a bit more to get the Wii U out sooner because 2 whole years with only 2 good games (this and Kirby) is WAY too long, even for a drought hardended lifelong Nintendo fanboy. Of course, releasing Xenoblade and Pandoras Tower and The Last Story could help them in NA.

Happy birfday to me!

For some odd reason I keep thinking that Zelda's big nose is a plot point in this one.
It's Legend of Zelda. Given how consistently good the games are, I can't agree that buying it sight unseen is brand loyalty; it's just very unlikely that Nintendo will f**k it up.

$70 gold remote bundle announced. It will also come with that music CD. I will probably pick that version up because my roommate doesn't have a motion plus thing for his Wii.

That's a good deal. Also, the CD comes with every game regardless of version for it's initial run.

Also for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, every copy in the initial production of the game will come packaged with a special music CD featuring orchestral arrangements of select songs that will be performed at The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert.
...
The limited-edition gold controller bundle for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be offered at a suggested retail price of $69.99. The game will also be sold separately at a suggested retail price of $49.99, though the gold controller will only be available as part of the special bundle. As an additional 25th anniversary treat for fans who purchase the game early, every copy in the initial production, whether sold by itself or as a part of the limited-edition bundle, will come with a free CD featuring select orchestral arrangements of iconic music spanning the history of the franchise which will be performed at The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert performances in October 2011. For more information about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, visit http://www.zelda.com/skywardsword.

And here's a gem from the press release:

* Note that the gold controller will simply be gold in color and will not contain any actual precious metals.

Well, I'll probably get the motion plus edition, just because. I've got two black montion plus remotes now.

Doesn't include real gold... what? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

But what will I sell for food when the apocalypse comes and dollars are worthless?

Pre-order cancelled.

ClockworkHouse wrote:

You need to buy a Wii2 for that.

All Wiimotes now come with the motion plus inside the regular remote.

I has no Wiimotion Plus, and a controller is typically $40.

I'll save the $10 and get the gold controller.

This is true, which is why I have 2 black motion+ remotes (with it built in) and no silly add on things and 2 non-motion+ remotes. Speaking of remotes:

Seriously, that clear/white-ish cover looks just dumb and the white nunchuck makes me sad.

Another great video showing this time showing the crafting system. I just love the way the game looks.

That looks pretty cool. It's been too long since I've played a Zelda game.

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tg...

Lots of gameplay revealed. It looks amazing. I thought I wanted a new Zelda, now I know I want a new Zelda.

That was pretty incredible.

Sweet! I disappear from the world of the internet for a few days and come back to some great Zelda news/videos! The crafting stuff looks ok, but I'm worries it will require some grinding eventually. I like how they keep talking about changing up the dungeon style now, too.

Yeah, but who actually plays Wii with the condom on other than people who don't know any better? It would be nice to have a gold nunchuk to go with the remote, though. Maybe I'll just paint one of my nunchuks.

Does anyone know if the non-bundle Zelda comes with a Motion Plus attachment? Doesn't matter to me, since I'm getting the bundle, just curious.

All Motion-Plus are now built inside the WiiMote, so now it's the same size as the original. We package the suckers by the thousands at work.

Well I was going to pre-order this on Amazon with some credit I had. But then I saw no release-date delivery. Then I looked and it's another Nintendo Sunday release.

Going to see if Best Buy might be doing a midnight. Otherwise I'm going to have to suck it up and pre-order from Gamestop. I want the bundle, and am not going to take the risk of picking one up at Walmart at midnight. Better to guarantee it.

I think I'm the odd one around here sometimes. Anything I want released after the begining of September goes on my birthday/christmas wishlist. I'll be waiting to sink my teeth into this one.

Normally I'd agree, especially for a single player game. But that damn golden remote has me committed.
