when they plan on releasing this?

Tripwire said that it will be released sometime today with no specific time in mind. They said the Steam counter was never based on a projected release time. It looks like the same deal as the beta release, they are working on the game until the very last minute. So it is a matter of getting it finished. Or Tripwire pushing it out in desperation when they run out of time and then patching it tomorrow, I'm pretty sure this is what happened with the beta.

generally last minute is 12:01am on release day

It is out now.

For the Motherland!

Is there a GWJ group for this game yet?

Was just about the to purchase - went off sale, must resist!

I can't help but think this is going to be one of those games that is going to be $10 at Christmas. Then again, it is MP focused and most people will be deep in BF3 by then. Must resist.

During the first mission of the single player campaign I entered the final building and shot a man in the throat. The sounds he made were so disturbing that I ran into his room to finish him off after 10 seconds of gurgling. I was killed by his buddy right before I pulled the trigger...

I have a steam group up for the server I'm running.

friend me up and msg me for invite. Server is currently not reporting stats properly, but it's being worked on.

Man, does anyone else's left pinky hurt after playing this game?

Man, checked our stats tonight ... we kinda sucked. Guess we do better as the Axis or something.

I'm still not convinced the game isn't inherently balanced towards Axis.

How do you figure? Genuine question, I'd like to hear your reasoning. Historically, I guess it would kinda make sense.

I played a couple games as the allies, and overall did much better than expected after hearing what people mentioned. Still died a lot, but good. Haven't played anything other than Rifleman yet, though.

I shouldn't be surprised, but I find this remark by Out of Eight on Twitter disappointing:

RO2: the AI is still dumb. Won't attack objectives (even if ordered). Takes cover poorly. Ignores close enemies. In short: don't play SP.

I know it's focused on MP, but I was still hoping SP would be worthwhile.

Pretty much the same reasons that they had better equipment historically. Unfortunately they don't seem to realize that you can have realism without being tied to historical accuracy.

German MG has alt fire you can use for perfectly accurate shot even from the hip.

German tank is much, much harder to kill. Weakness is the back. (heck the gunner was invulnerable until one of the latter patches in beta. The Russian tanks big weakness? Right in the lower front of the turret. Try keeping that away from your enemy

MP40 is more controllable and stable than PPSH

Even the pistol on the German side is much more effective. The Russian version is a revolver and reloads in about 3x the time.

The maps may or may not be more balanced, but the equipment certainly isn't. If they are going to stick with historical accuracy, shouldn't the Russian team get more players or be tougher to kill? heh

Those all sound sound like reasonable complaints, I honestly haven't played enough of the game to have any feel for balance at the moment, although I was playing as a machine-gunner on the Russian side and noticed it didn't have the single shot option. I didn't miss it terribly, it still feels plenty accurate with short bursts, it was actually really satisfying to play, machine-gunners are so rarely modelled accurately in games. I love setting up in a high window and raining death and terror down upon the Germans below... until I get sniped of course.

Is there a demo somewhere?

No, but I expect there will be a free weekend eventually. You could look up gameplay on youtube, or play the comparatively ancient UT2004 mod to get an idea.

I've actually played the old version for about an hour. I know it can be a spartan and realistic game compared to the tight quarters of Call of Duty MW2.

And then I bought RO2.

I was going pretty ballistic with my machine gun the other night, but admittedly I didn't just let rip and empty an entire drum without releasing the trigger, maybe I was under the threshold for barrel explodiness.

I've yet to see the Russian's win a single game of territory.

Also, my stats aren't recording. Do I have to be on a ranked server? It was saying I got to honor level 5 in-game. I leave, look at my stats, and it says I'm level 2 and all my weapon levels are 1 still.

Edit: Apparently I have been playing on ranked servers.

Indeed! Though only a few people have joined up so far, so it isn't going to be as useful as it could be.

I'd say defense has the advantage right now. I don't think I've played a game where the attackers have won. I imagine that will work itself out as people learn the game though.

Well after over dozen or so games so far I can definitely say that compared to other people I am a terrible shot. Looking around the corner, get shot, look out the window, get shot. So far I die 4 times for every kill that I make but hopefully I can improve as I learn the maps and generally the game mechanics since I did not play the first game nor the beta. It's still an awesome feeling to get the opponent.

I had 1 or 2 wins with Russians on territory game, but I agree that Germans have some kind of advantage.

One thing I have to force myself to do is think "I've just spotted that guy, what is he doing so I can avoid doing the same thing in his position".

Knowing the maps is crucial. I only played a few weeks of the beta and only a played a few of the maps. I felt pretty lost on the new maps yesterday. How many maps are there anyways? Has anyone seen a good resource that illustrates all of the different maps and objectives?

Is there going to be a GWJ night?

I find myself pressing M a lot. Also map knowledge is something that comes with time played, learning them by-rote is generally for learning the bits you've missed.

You should probably be pushing T. It's more useful.

Edit: 17 hours in the beta, and here I am still downloading the full game like a chump.

I believe Wednesday was being floated around before.

I would prefer non-Wednesday, if possible. Anybody available mondays?
