Super And Not Super Street Fighter IV Catch all

I haven't really read much about AE but I have played a few twins online. Heck, I don't even know which twin it was. What I do know is that they have what looks to be a very easy combo that starts low. They can jump in with an overhead and go into a low extremely easily. I don't think the people I was playing were particularly good but it was still a tough matchup because of that combo and the high priority moves they have. I will also note that I've not played as them myself so I don't know for sure that the combo is easy to do.

So I picked up the Arcade Edition from Steam and I'm beyond disappointed with it. The directional input for Hori sticks and Virtua Stick High Grade sticks is confirmed not to work with the game. I'm SOL with using anything but a 360 controller or a keyboard until Capcom fixes the problem.

**** you Capcom.

Edit: Source.

Update: The patch is almost final:

Mejwell and I will likely be playing this on PC when it's ready.

Warning: PC version does not have the Super Street Fighter IV balance option. It only has the balance for arcade edition.

You guys ready for EVO? This year will be fun. Poongko's Seth will make a lot of noise if he shows up.

Update:

Step-by-step instructions fixing the stick input issue have been posted: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...

It works like a dream. My only worry is: anyone still playing this? Any PC players?

Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread for this, but GiantBomb has got a nice quick look up for 3rd Strike Online Edition up. One thing that I caught that I personally hadn't heard before: not only can you save match replays, but you upload them directly to YouTube.

Haha, I love that they have you re-create Evo Moment #37. I'm impressed, as I have been with all the download versions of older Capcom games.

Top 10 moments from GodsGarden. There are some great comebacks in here:

Thanks for posting. That Zangief / Dhalsim match was awesome as was the Zangief / Sakura. The whole thing was very entertaining.

I was about to purchase it for the PC until I saw the GFWL requirement.

Surprisingly, I haven't found it to be intrusive at all. Mejwell and I have put quite a few hours into it online. I'm just hoping that more people on the forums pick it up so we can run arcade matches (winner stays, loser rotates) on a semi-regular basis.

A patched dropped last night for the PC version that fixes all the stick problems I mentioned before. It still runs like butter otherwise.

Will Mejwell and I remain the only two GWJers that play this on the PC? Someone needs to organize a four-pack purchase.

EDIT:

The boxed version is $20 on Amazon:

Though, you can't activate it on steam.

Anybody play on ps3?

I do! Although I'm not very good, you can find my ID in my sig.

Might as well type it out anyway: cryptic_code

As we're closing in on a month until this thing hits, I feel obligated to point out if anyone was still unaware, that we're throwing a little party in Ohio in October and we'll be playing SSF4 as well as some other fighting games (in addition to a ton of other things).

Check it out.

Please come. Don't let me win the fighting game tournament. I'm not good enough and I can't win a prize anyway =)

Can you directly set up matches with a friend on XBL? Is it easy to rematch or character select after matches or do you have to go back through the whole setup process each time? Does MvC3 follow a similar setup?

Yes, yes, and no. MvC 3 has the same invite system, but when playing online it lacks the easy rematch you get playing offline versus. At this point you shouldn't bother with MvC 3, just wait for Ultimate MvC 3 which supposedly will fix a lot (if not all) of the problems.

Cool, thanks. You hit on it in that a buddy and I are looking for the offline versus experience while online. Are there any fighting games that do this well?

Super SF4 does it well enough, as does Super SF2 HD Remix. Mortal Kombat has the functionality, but last time I played the lag made it unbearable. Ultimate MvC 3 is supposed to have everything Super SF4 does, but we'll see in a few weeks if that's true.

Far and away the one with the best online experience is BlazBlue though. If you can only get one, and only play online, and want the deepest fighting system, then I'd go for BlazBlue. It's not easy to pick up though, so you won't get the most out of it if you can't put some significant time into it.

So, yeah....

Arise!

It just came to my attention that the AE 2012 balance patch landed already to much (or not) fanfare. Anyone fired it up and played a few rounds with it yet? I wouldn't mind getting the band back together for a fight night or two sometime for old time sakes.

I bought Super and then only played a few hours of it. I could drop in for a few rounds, though.

You'd have to buy the AE DLC for $15.

I'm game if someone else wants to organize, but if there's going to be money spent it might be better spent on one of the myriad other fighters that are about to land.

Happy to play SFIV AE 2012 here. All I've played in the last week or so. I'm very rusty.

Hi everyone. I'm thinking of getting another Xbox 360 after a mishap with the last one. I used to play some Super Street Fighter 4 and I still have my copy lying around somewhere. My question - has the Street Fighter community largely moved on to Arcade Edition? Will I be able to find a game on plain old SSFIV or do I need to budget for an upgrade along with the console? Cheers.

Oh boy. I'm always wary about bumping dead (more than once) threads like this but being new this looks like the best place to post up.

I'm looking to play AE:2012 (Xbox) with people on evenings or weekends while I prepare to not look like a total fool when I go to Evo in July. Is anyone interested?

I bought AE during the summer sale. I regret it at this point. I've probably played in over 100 matches, yet I've won maybe 3. This has to be the single most frustrating game to play ever.

Zane, are we friends on steam? Some friends and I have been running kind of a training camp to bring some newer people more up to speed and provide a less frustrating environment. Shoot me a PM with your email and I'll get you in there. We're looking to play at some point today, in fact.

Just make sure you grab skype since that's the easiest thing to use for voice.

And that goes for anyone who bought AE on steam, friend me up, the more the merrier.

I bought AE during the sale and I'm loving it, although I'm still in the stage where I'm getting tooled on by the AI in Arcade Mode. This game is so much more technically demanding for even basic combos than anything else I've spent time with. I'd love to get in on some friendly multiplayer. Oily, I just sent you a Steam friend request too.

Accepted. Shoot me a PM with your email as that's how we've been setting up night to play.

I purchased AE during the steam sale also. I used to be heavily into fighters but now I'm a PC only gamer I haven't played a fighter in a while. The steam sale price was too good to pass up. I even got a usb connector so I can use my old Playstation 1 joysticks that still work after all this time. I'd love to play with you guys. Send me a steam invite.

Indignant!

I'd love to. I'll try to get a game together some time this week. Shoot me a steam message any time you want to play, though.

Edit: It occurs to me that I should probably make a steam group.

Super Edit 2 AE: done. Please go here to sign up. The group is public. We'll try to get a game together this week.
