I definitely overcompensated for Lars-ing it up last year. I'm pretty sure having money left over feels worse than not being able to bid until everyone else goes out.
I had a couple bucks left over, and I felt great about it (not the money, but about not being forced into picks I didn't want). I'm upset that I never got a true #1 receiver, but given the ridiculous prices for receivers and the depth I got for my money I don't mind at all.
Edit: Bleagh, Grumps is going to put us all to shame with his keepers. I can only hope the depth I'm so happy about will save me somewhere along the way. Happy about the draft, though.
Sorry, I'm still kind of enjoying the Fairy Princess Division
And a huge thank you again (and again) for all the work you put into commissionering the leagues!! Where can I send the case of beer?
Yeah, I'm pretty ok with BRD and FPD but really want to get the other two divisions renamed. It's too bad Lars is in BRD or I could name one "Steelers Fan Division." ;)
To be honest I tried thinking of a division name, but came up blank.
Btw Colorado isn't a red state anymore, we're purple. Gah ... I still can't come up with anything.
Favre's Farts Division.
There. Classy.
Browncoats
The independents
Vinnie's division
Can we open up free agency before after the first week? Seems kind of pointless not to be able to change your team for 2 weeks.

How about the Ron Mexico Division?
First off, thank you Grumps for all the hard work you put into the league. Being a former commissioner myself (and a current Steeler fan), I know it can be a thankless job.

You still can. Or are you trying to tell me that you are replacing Boogle with me for the next football podcast in 2020?

Now that's a good division name. Of course, I did name my old league the Ron Mexico Memorial League, so I'm a little biased. Additionally, Elliot, if you want to steal my team name from the league (2 Legit....2 Legit Steve Smiths), you are more then welcome to use it. You can also steal my theme song, which you can hear by clicking on my old team's roster link. I put a lot of "time" into it.

Wait ... you're a Steelers fan?
yeah, all the inflation seems to have gone to receivers. Based on my kept vs expected value I thought Running backs and receivers would both inflate about 21%, but it looked like it ALL went to the receivers.
There was just such a dearth of talent available at WR this year that people were faced with the undesirable choice between overpaying for mediocre WRs or not having anything to put out on the field.
Going into the draft I knew I HAD to get Jennings or A. Johnson or I'd be screwed. I made a late decision to try a 2 TE strategy this year due to the WR situation. I hate having such little proven depth, but I don't regret for a second paying what I did for Jennings or Gates, and trotting Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates both out there every week is going to be interesting.
A couple questions:
1. Which site do we make waiver claims on?
2. Keeper rules: Is it $3 or 30% for players taken at auction, and $4 or 40% for guys picked up after the auction?
3. Do auction salaries matter when making trades with other teams? For example, if I wanted to trade Aaron Rodgers ($36) for Titus Young ($1), would the other team have to free up money to do the trade? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I wanted to make sure.
I just found this, so missed by a couple weeks, so count me in for next year...
Hmmm, isn't waivers broken? I thought we had it set up so that once the initial waiver period for each week ended, we could have open free agency for a couple days until the next weeks games?

Free agents are locked until after week 1.
Got ya.
Grump has been keeping tabs on other league sites and has noticed that ESPN has added some features (specifically, bidding waivers) that we rely on for our leagues.
Of course, we hold our draft for this league there every year because Fleaflicker has no auction capabilities. So now we're wondering if we should evaluate ESPN as a possible new home for the league.
So we're throwing this idea out there: since we're all signed up for ESPN and our league exists there, what about running our league in parallel on the FF and ESPN sites? Basically we would be the testers to see if ESPN is where the GWJ leagues should be hosted going forward or not.
Besides auction drafting, ESPN offers much more in the way of mobile phone clients.
So, we throw the idea out there to you - do you guys want to do some site evaluation? I imagine we wouldn't necessarily need to do it all season if people really don't want to duplicate their efforts across two sites. Even doing it for just the first few weeks would give us a good picture of what using ESPN on a day-to-day basis is like.
FF would still be the only league that "counts" for this year.
I'm always up for evaluating new things. I will attempt to duplicate all of my actions and moves in the ESPN league.
I'm in a league at ESPN and have been using it for 3 years now, I believe. Maybe 4. Anyway, I like Fleaflicker better for in-season stuff, like signing players. It's less cluttered and confused.
The one thing I do like better about ESPN is their Fantasycast thing is more interesting to keep track of fantasy points on gameday. But that's just me.
Sounds fine to me.
Just to be clear, FF is the 'true' site, and if there is some discrepancy FF would always be the site used for determining points, transaction timing, etc. Correct?
Edit: oh, and the new ad thing that you can't avoid when looking at player news in Fleaflicker bugs the sh*t out of me.
Fleaflicker's draft interface is terrible. I haven't used ESPN in a couple years outside of our auction drafts, but I've always thought Yahoo was the best.

Yes. FleaFlicker would be the only thing that counts. ESPN would be like an Olympic demonstration sport, or Whose Line Is It Anyway - the points don't matter.
We would just want people to mirror things as closely as possible just for the sake of making the test as accurate as possible.
Regarding us using ESPN for our test league. There is a player claim I just put into Fleaflicker(which will be processed on the 15th), I then put the claim into ESPN as well(which will be processed on the 9th). I'm a bit hesitate to put it in as it will reveal the player I'm trying to grab for next week thanks to the really long wait this week. Is the intent for the ESPN league just to show us these types of situations?

This pretty much sums up my thoughts, but I am willing to run my team concurrently on both hosts. I'm in another league on ESPN, so it's not much extra trouble at all.
