Sorry for the delay, meant to start over the weekend when a couple things premiered.

Shows I plan to give a shot:

Person Of Interest CBS
Prime Suspect NBC
A Gifted Man CBS (This looks like show to watch with the wife.)
Terra Nova FOX (Yeah, I know better.)
New Girl FOX

Shows I'm looking forward to their return:

Fringe FOX
Survivor CBS
Castle ABC
The Mentalist CBS
Criminal Minds CBS (this could be the first casualty. It probably should have been cut after last season.)
The Walking Dead AMC
The Good Wife (This got really good at the end of last season. Really excited to see it come back.)
House FOX
Bones FOX
The Closer TNT (I'm loving the much darker storyline as this series winds down. It's actually on now, and comes back again in November.)

As usual, there is way more TV than I actually have time to watch.

I missed the premiere of Dinosaur Revolution due to the tardiness of this thread. Thanks a lot, Stele.

Gotta get a bigger HD for storage and an SSD. And a new video card. A 300GB VelociRaptor is no longer big enough for all the shows I need to record, and I may need a second capture card to get 4 channels recorded instead of 2.

For Irongut!

Wait, people watch shows other than Parks & Recreation and Community? Why?

Because those shows aren't on every day like they should be.

Here's a site with a lot of links to previews of shows with trailers (by network). It's on the CW trailers, but you can click the other networks.

Wimp. I have a 2TB recorded TV drive and 7 tuners (4 stream CableCARD + 2 ATSC + 1 ClearQAM) :p

But I am curious if a small OS SSD would improve 7MC performance in database types of tasks.

I'm afraid if I don't watch Sons, Ron Perlman will hurt me.

He won't. I missed the entirety of season 3, and Netflix won't get off their ass and release it on Instant Watch already.

The DVDs for season 3 just became available. I would be surprised if they hit Netflix before October.

Season 4 looks to be off to an awesome start, though!

Saw so many awesome previews over the last few weeks. My DVR will weep.

Are you sure I didn't save you some wasted time?

Spoiler:

The dinosaurs all die. :D

Fringe, Bones and Big Bang Theory are all I generally watch. Excited for Fringe S4 and whatever the heck season Bones it will be...

Shows I think I'll give a shot:
New Girl - While the pilot (which is free on iTunes) isn't great, I could see the formula working. It's hurt by the fact that it's on Tuesday which has become the day I don't watch tv.
Person of Interest - Ben Linus, you say? J.J. Abrams, you say? Sure, I'll watch a couple episodes even if Jesus is in it.
Suburgatory - It's between The Middle and Modern Family. It will have to be pretty terrible for me not to at least have in on while I read.
Terra Nova - I guess it's an interesting premise...and dinosaurs.
Dinosaur Revolution - Assuming I can catch up after missing the first episode.

I probably would have given Whitney a shot but it's after The Office which I don't plan on watching anymore. I'm saved mostly by the fact that I don't really like procedurals.

Yeah we ended up watching all of Better With You last year, laugh track and all...

I wish I were brave enough to take that chance, but I don't want to get on Clay Morrow's bad side. Anyway, Season 3 was a bit of a misfire--plenty of great moments, yeah, that usual "compared to the rest of what's on TV blah blah" excuse making, but it was a pretty big trip down from Season 2. Lots of stuff where the stakes and the players weren't sufficiently clear so it felt like a lot of wheel-spinning (>sad trombone<). Here's hoping 4 looks more like 2.

So, yeah. Community, P&R, Sons, Fringe, Archer, Sunny, Chuck, and Breaking Bad isn't done yet. I have to say, that's a hefty crop of unappealing new shows up in that list.

Awesome! New season of Survivor!

Also, new Amazing Race. What can I say, WhiteSabre and I really enjoy these two shows.

So True Blood is done and with it the summer season. As I look at the fall schedule this week, I see... well, almost nothing.

I guess I might check out Ringer on the CW, since I always enjoyed SMG. Not sure how much plot they're going to get out of this twin living the other's life though. Maybe there will be more to it?

So Ringer was ok tonight. Interesting enough to watch a few more. They've intentionally left a ton of backstory out there to fill in later as you get to know these people.

A couple of laughable blue-screen special effects scenes on the water that just screamed "this show is on the CW" but otherwise fine. They did a lot of showing off the two SMGs thing of course.

End of episode twist was obvious, if not from the general idea of the show, from watching years of tv and movies.

Spoiler:

If you don't see a body, a person isn't dead.

If Ringer gets a second viewing from us, it is purely because it is so bad it is good. It was the only thing on, so we gave it a try.

The premise is impossible. The writing is really bad. Most of the acting is subpar. Sara Michelle Geller has not aged gracefully at all, and is distractingly uncomfortable to look at because her make-up matches the over poor production values.

My wife and I really chuckled at one of the promo segments during the episode where SMG and another actor talked about what the show is and tried to make a case of it being film noir. I mean, I guess that what you would have to do to make film noir palatable on the CW, but it feels more like an excuse to get away with their poor production values.

We aren't really disappointed, because this show was not really on our list of shows to try.

My wife loves parenthood and I always watch bits and pieces of it with her. The season opener was pretty good last night.

I watched Wipeout once a month ago and caught it again last night. I just can't stop laughing during it!

I cannot stand Parks and recreation. I don't understand the appeal one tiny little bit.

New survivor tonight

I think Wipeout is a great guilty pleasure that feeds on the universal rule of funny. When people fall down, you laugh.

I'm not sure why we didn't tak to Parenthood. I figured my wife would love it, as she was huge Gilmore Girls fan. But this one just never made the cut. Not in a bad way, we just kind of realized each week that it was one of the shows on Tivo we never got to.

Those promos for The good wife are hinting at a pretty steam Julianna Margulies this season, which is not a bad thing, at all. The Good Wife is probably the best show on TV that no one talks about. Last season started slow, but really ramped up well.

It's also a great collection of actors. Alan Cumming as Eli Gold is worth the price of admission. It was great that they gave him some serious screen time last season.

I'm guessing you aren't a fan of The Office (US) seasons 1-3? Same writers, I believe.

Castle tonight!

So far I'm enjoying the new Survivor. Looks like it will be a good season.

BlackSabre wrote:

Agreed. It's such a great format, and they seem to tweak it in just the right ways to keep it interesting.

Man, Russel's nephew is a mess, though.

I missed Parenthood last week, so I'll catch up tomorrow after I return from work. I'm too excited for Castle tonight, so that's taking up all my attention perusing Youtube for random Castle scenes from the past few seasons. Bloopers especially.

But there are quite a few shows I'll definitely be tuning in for:

New Girl FOX
Once Upon A Time ABC
Suburgatory ABC
Pan Am ABC
Terra Nova FOX
Charlie's Angels ABC

And then my guilty pleasures just for kicks - and I've watched them since day one:
Glee FOX
Grey's Anatomy ABC
Private Practice ABC
Raising Hope FOX

By far though, I'm most excited for Castle, hands down. If you couldn't tell.

Definitely. Interesting how some of the other contestants already have a bad feeling about him. I also thought that Ozzie and Coach were a really odd combination, but it seems interesting so far. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that Coach will last longer than Ozzie.
