Hard Reset - Coming September 2011 - Catch All

hey! that barrel he shot exploded!! that was so cool and never done before.

Lol. That's the same thing I thought when he shot it. The video'd be better without him transcribing all over it.

I was interested in this game from when I heard former Painkiller devs were on it but after seeing that video, I'm totally sold. Something for the new gaming PC to sink its teeth into!

Looks like a cross between Blade Runner and Dead Space. I get it isn't done yet, but it seems to be a relatively static, dead world. The car thing seems to be disappointing. They're static bombs just like FO3. I hope that the world is more alive when they release the game.

I think it's meant to have the retro feel and not really innovate on anything. Whats wrong with that?

If this is basically sci-fi Painkiller, I would be very happy. Old school is often fantastic.

The original Painkiller was my GOTY runner up (after HL2) for 2004, I had soooo much fun with it. I'm hoping Hard Reset can recapture some of that magic. I'm also eager to support PC only titles. Hoping this one does well.

Why the hell does everything have to always be so dark? I love the idea of Blade Runnerish world, but I want to see it! Dark tunnels and jumping boogeymen are NOT cool. If I want to stare at a black screen, I'll just turn my monitor off.

Have you seen Blade Runner recently? It's a very dark movie. Hard to see almost anything in it. Otherwise, I agree.

Yeah, but Blade Runner was dark because of the limitations of the movie budget. A living, breathing world can be assumed to have some daylight.

Speaking of Bladerunnerish... anyone seen this? - http://www.dont-nod.com/category/pro...

3rd Person Action/Adventure | Release date : Fall 2012 | Platforms : PS3 / Xbox 360

Neo-Paris 2084,

Augmented reality and memory manipulation have taken control of peoples’ lives.

You can now digitize, buy, sell or trade your own personal memories. The last remainders of intimacy have been swept away, in what appears to be a simple extension of the development of social networks and geolocation at the beginning of the 21st century.
The “surveillance society” has been accepted by the citizens themselves, in exchange for a few technological benefits. It is a reality that no one even thinks of challenging anymore.

This memory-based economy gives an immense yet uncontrollable power to a handful of people…

Blade Runner inspired Paris

Why do robotic hordes always get such a bad rap?

Gotta say, rewatching that 7 minute gameplay video at home and at 1080p was much more impressive. Seems fun.

Reminds me of TimeShift. Mostly for the visuals and city designs. It looks like a future with a bit of retro mixed in and that was one of the things I loved in TimeShift. Then again SteamPunk, which is what TimeShift was pretty much, and CyberPunk, Hard Reset, are both very similar genres. They take a time period and exaggerate them.

Must say I will keep my eye on this and might get it but all this has done has made me want a TimeShift sequel just that much more.

Giant Bomb put up a quick look of the demo.

Painkiller + Upgradable Weapons? I'd buy that for a dollar. Or possibly even 40 dollars.

Blade Runner was a dark palette, I'll grant you that. But! Just because it is filmed at night, it doesn't make it annoyingly dark. In BR you can see everything that you need to see. No amount of action is ever hidden or sneaky or jumps at you from a completely dark corner.

In several minutes of watching that guy initiate some lightning bolts, I have not actually seen a single thing he was killing. Just some blobby movement illuminated by the lightning bolts. Maybe it was his movie that was somehow too dark, but I couldn't see a damn thing in that preview. It gave me zero desire to actually try and decipher what the world is supposed to look like from all that blackness.

Release date: Sept 13, price: $29.99, reports bluesnews.

Pre-orders on Steam start at 1pm EDT today, at 10% off, $26.99.

Besides, Flying Wild Hog is on your side. My last question concerned the boogeyman of DRM. "I'm a gamer as well as a developer," Zych said. "And I hate DRM. So no DRM."

"No DRM", despite steam, the only place it's available... As much as I like steam, call a spade a spade.

I'll give you a spade, Scratched. Right to the face.

I was indifferent going into this demo, the gameplay looked a little too simplistic, but nope, nu uh, it is really awesome. Seriously dope.

Seemed decent. Feels "right" for the most part. Not sure how deep it is from this, but there were lots of upgrades to be had. I liked the grenade launcher.

I didn't realize there was a demo out for it. I'll totally be trying that tonight.

Good to hear. It looked intriguing and it's a great price. I'm definitely planning on grabbing the demo in a little bit.

Using the energy mortar to stop two charging walkers and then unloading with the machine gun felt really badass. It helped that my blaze of glory exploded two adjacent cars.

Just finished playing through the demo and, yup, pre-purchased. The most important thing with a pure shooter like this is that it controls well and feels smooth and responsive. They nailed that.

Hell, for $27, you can't possibly go wrong!

Did the same thing with the GL. It was like bowling.

Weird that I've gotten so used to reloading and crouching that I looked around in the key binds for longer than I should have trying to figure out where they were

I just pre-ordered as well. I wanted to anyway, to support a developer who believes in the PC platform, and believes in gamers. Will this game be pirated? yep. But will I be punished for having the audacity to buy it? Nope.

Loved the demo, btw. I had it on Ultra everything, and the textures, lighting, particle effects, dust/smoke, etc, all top-notch.

Just played through the demo as well. Random thoughts:

- Main menu animations are too long. Just go to the damn page.
- Intro video was hard to make it through, it was pretty bad.
- Guns feel awesome.
- Blowing stuff up feels awesome.
- The different gun modes is a strange design decision. Why not add more guns so I can select them with 1-10 for easy switching? I feel like it's going to be weird and complicated trying to switch between 2 guns with like 10 modes each in the heat of battle. Heck I was having trouble choosing the grenade launcher in that last fight.
- The game ran and looked great at max everything.

The trailers on the Steam page look pretty cool. I'm definitely going to try the demo tonight.
