Sword of the Stars 2

Chris Stewart Interview here.

Updated OP to reflect game is pushed back to sometime October 2011.

Tagged with no other input except that I'm liking what I'm seeing.

I enjoyed the first game quite a bit, so I am definitely going to keep my eyes on this one.

I've been jonesing for something like this for some time now. I am still leery about picking it up given my schedule, but this looks so good!

Per the Paradox Blog this morning:

NEW YORK – October 10th, 2011 – Kerberos Studios and Paradox Interactive will unravel more mysteries of the universe for Sword of the Stars II: The Lords of Winter, sequel to Kerberos' hit 4X science fiction strategy game. But only for a selected few brave ones.

Today Kerberos and Paradox announced details on how to sign up for the limited closed beta. Only a few spots will be available and this will be your only chance.

Sword of the Stars II: Lords of Winter offers an evolved version of the original six races from Sword of the Stars and its expansions. The game will reveal the deep, dark secret of the Suul’ka.
Boasting an all new graphics engine and incorporating new ship details that allow for new fleet strategies and tactics, Sword of the Stars II is poised to revive the 4X space genre and is scheduled for release on October 28th, 2011.

Nice. I'd sign up if I knew I'd actually play it.

That's great news, I'm really looking forward to this!

October 28. Very nice. Very nice indeed.

Yes!

Updated op and applied for the beta!

What is this about a Liir/Morrigi Race Pack DLC if we pre-order? Aren't they core races that everyone should get?

Pre-order Sword of the Stars II Lords of Winter and get Liir/Morrigi Race Pack DLC FREE

That's ... surprising to me.

Edit: On the forums someone was saying that it's skins and perhaps some audio.

Edit: Edit: Confirmed, just skin packs.

Yeah i think people are initially impressed that the game is priced at $40 instead of $50 and the liir/morrigi immersion pack is included with pre-order from gamers gate, no word on steam yet. All thats known from whats shown on gamersgate is that its different ship textures, people are still trying to find out the full deal with it.

SoTS2 is now available for pre-order on gamersgate, listed at $39.95!!

I actually hope they figure out how to do some good DLC with this game. They deserve the extra cash, and the game could be more fun with little DLC touches.

Like hats for the Suul'ka.

Pre-order is up on Steam! $39.99

"Pre-Purchase Sword of the Stars II: Lords of Winter and receive a free copy of the Hiver & Tarka Immersion Pack DLC!"

SotS 1 Complete is also on sale for $5 as a promotion.

Yeah, pre-ordered SotS2. Because I am a giant tool. Like always.

Bunch of screenies up on bluesnews

But a useful one. Preordering as well from Steam.

Are you still a tool if it's an indie developer? Maybe it makes you hip or something?

Sale lasts until Oct 28... funny.

Apparently I've decided that this will be the strategy game I invest my time into for the next 6 months - 1 year. I pre-ordered.

Well, in this case I think it makes me a giant sentient alien tool from before the dawn of time.

This I can support.

Any sort of preview/review content anyone know about? Anyone playing in the beta with some some Non-NDA breaking thoughts?

Heh. Can't wait until Friday to hear more?

Well, you know, it's such a slow time for releases. Can you blame him for wanting a bit of info about anything?

In all seriousness, I think SotS2 is going to go under the radar with some other games like Stronghold 3. I'm already planning for the first Steam sale as being the "true" release that will actually get peoples' attention.

Well, for people like me who don't care about sequels to shooters, SOTS2 is definitely front and center on the radar right now.

Was checking GamersGate this morning and saw what I thought was my key. Instead it was my key for the "Immersion Pack"

Got all excited there for a second.
