It's just that, random. So you could go up against a noob or against an expert.

Nice game.

I wish I would have realized that when the walls are like that, the rockets go right though. A lot of my rocket strategy was based on that.

Hmmm, trying to add people to my friends lost, but can't figure out how...

If you're talking about the half-high walls (windows, desks, whatever), you can fire rockets into those by firing while crouching.

Nope. In the match that I played against Tykl (257251), the boundary walls are transparent to rocket fire. I didn't realize that until my rockets started going through them.

They went over the walls because they are half-height cover and you were standing when you fired your rocket. Sometimes the animation looks like it's going through the mesh, but gameplay-wise, they went over.

I've had a few random games. They don't quite feel as intense as when you get to play against friends though. They are good for learning though. Especially hostage. I made the mistake of taking the hostages to the wrong exit and lost me the game.

Oh. It's more that there *are* no boundary walls. If there's not a wall drawn there (i.e. it's just the edge of the "floor"), there's no wall. Which is a little weird, considering you can't move past that edge (except in game modes where you finish by going off of edges.)

Primed and ready to go, Mudbunny. Looks like we've both lost a rocket dude.

Tkyl, I didn't get a chance to see our game yet. Will take a look tonight. Lunch time disappears around this place so fast!

I challenged you to another match. And this one has the potential to be a blood bath on the first turn. :)

Holy crap, you weren't wrong.

Is there new server info that I could update the OP with?

GG Tkyl. I think I got lucky on that first turn.

Want a rematch? Maybe some hostage? I haven't tried the other modes yet, so I'd probably practice those before going up against you in one of those.

Yeah, I'll play any kind of match, though I prefer the dark modes.

Ok, I'll probably jump on at lunch today and set up a new one. I've only played dark mode too. Half the fun is guessing where your opponent is and figuring out what he's most likely to do.

I'm thinking Dark Hostage at this point.

GG Mudbunny.

Also, you don't need to crouch in the open as it doesn't make you less likely to be hit or increase your accuracy. I originally thought it did, but it doesn't.

If you're moving, it does. If you're standing still, it doesn't.

I was crouching because someone earlier in the thread mentioned that crouching would make the rockets explode against the outer walls. But they don't. They just go through. As a result, once my machine gunner died, and all I had left was rockets, there was little likelihood of me winning.

I meant your assault guy. He was crouching and walking towards cover.

Wait... crouching and walking increases your accuracy?

BlackSabre wrote:

Yes, because you're going slower. Alternately, you could be standing up and aiming while moving to get the same bonus. (Crouching and aiming do not stack, in terms of accuracy bonus though.)

Hmm, good to know.

Anyway, I've set up 3 new matches. All dark hostage. One for Tkyl, oMonarca and mudbunny. I get stuck being the guy who has to prevent the hostages escaping in all of them. I think because I issued the challenge maybe? I much prefer being the rescuer. Anyway, games are up and will see how they go.

Mudbunny... in dark hostage, you can choose where you put your guys. You are given usually a few lines, then you can place your guys anywhere on that line. If you like, we can try again and swap sides or try some different mode?

When I watched the tutorial, I misunderstood it. I thought it was place guys, Prime, then the first set of movement orders. When it is place guys, first set of movement orders, then prime.

OOPS.

Ah.Yeah, I was wondering why they were just standing there in the open. I was like...hmmm...

That's ok, I stuffed up my first hostage round by telling my guys to exit to the wrong area.

EDIT: Sneaky, Tkyl. Very sneaky. Think you've got this one.

Hey guys, saw Sabre and bunny both challenged me. I've tried to play both, but I just don't have the patience to look at stuff meticulously and plan good moves. I just A+move and keep building probes.

Spoiler:

Too much SC2 made me unable to play slow at the moment.

Sorry guys :S

Is it bad that I intentionally sacraficed one of the hostages to be able to take out your sniper?

Yes. Yes it is. I hate you and it was a bloody nice move. I thought I had that one once I had your assault guy.

OK, so who is up for round 2? Game name and I'll send you a challenge. I need some more games.

Challenge me up again!!

Sweet. Will send you a challenge later today.

I have a free copy of the game to give away. Claim it here and it is yours.
