NFL 2011 Post-Lockout, Pre-Season Thread

I don't know, 6'4, 220+, running a 4.4 who can actually throw a football where he intends to sounds pretty unique to me.

As for it being pro-style, I seem to remember them looking an awful lot like a spread team, some belly option thrown in there.

The biggest problem I see for him is that he had a penchant for holding the ball too long because he trusted his legs too much. When he did throw it, he completed 65% last year. Not a great TD/Int Ration, but I've seen worse than 25-11. I just don't see him being much different than a lot of other QB's coming out of college. They are still learning to play the position. The difference here, to my mind, is that very few are as talented as he is. If they can teach him to use the pocket, go through the progression, and get rid of the ball...you know, coach him, he has the talent.

Yeah, the Raiders have been a mess, but their last couple drafts have made a lot more sense. This may be Al falling in love with the Athlete, but it's a better gamble than JaWalrus. Pryor is in shape, and is at least smart enough to give lip service to the right things when he F's up. If he works out, you have a veteran backup you can move. If he doesn't, he was cheap.

Besides, we should all be rooting for him. Just think, a game with Pryor and Tebow both playing. It'll be enough to give Merrill Hoge a stroke.

LMAO, thanks for that.

Also, As an Eagles fan, I approve of rooting for despicable people, and throwing batteries and Santa.

Eagles fans throw Santa?

Lord, you people are worse than I thought.

That was a typo there, Danimal. He meant "Satan".

To be fair, he had it coming.

Cheated a tad but still ended up a Packers fan

Football related Giants lose CB Thomas for the year on a pretty innocent looking play. Just shows how fickle the game can be when it comes to injuries. Looking bad for them though as piling up injuries before the real football even starts is never good no matter the position and player.

Well, if he is dumb enough to let them get their hands on him....yes

and

The New York Giants ended up losing two cornerbacks in one game as Brian Witherspoon learned on Tuesday that he has a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Less than 24 hours after losing Terrell Thomas to a torn ACL, the Giants suffered yet another blow to their thin secondary when they learned about Witherspoon's season-ending injury.

Wow. Are there any CBs left on the market? Chris McAllister?

Dear Eagles,

We need a CBs, you have plenty.

Sincerely,
The New York Giants.

What?!? It COULD happen

I was thinking the same thing until I remembered that you're the Giants.

Still... got a good right tackle? An extra middle linebacker? Maybe we can talk.

I am neither a Giants or Eagles fan, but I was thinking Kiwanuka for Asante Samuel straight up.

You're a 49ers fan, who allowed you to HAVE an opinion

*EDIT*
I apologize to all other 49ers fans, I'm just ragging on Shag.

You beat me to it.

You mean you can't just say, "oh fudge it", tuck it down, and run for 30 yards like in the SEC?

Also, thank you San Francisco for not signing Daunte Culpepper. They signed Josh McCown instead.

Now both the teams I cheer for have a McCown brother on the QB depth chart.

Truly, this day is the pinnacle of a lifelong dream.

As for Tebow, my perfect world is the Redskins trade for him. They need a QB and love big names, right?

MAKE IT HAPPEN, DANNY.

After Saturday's violence, the 49ers ask the NFL to suspend the annual preseason game.

I was offering what I thought was a sensible trade for both teams. Make your comments about the trade and not my team A-hole!

Now the Giants lose Defensive Tackle Marvin Austin as well. What the hell is going on over there?

Players are intentionally hurting themselves so they don't have to get humiliated by the DREAM TEAM.

Or possibly Tom Coughlin is beating the sh*t out of his players. Izzat happening again?

As somebody that had to watch four years of Adam Weber in college, I've got to say: BURN!

Kerry Collins unretires...and joins the Colts.

Not exactly the worst move Indy could have made. Now, if the article read "Ryan Leaf Unretires to join Colts", then that would be, as the kids say, some funny sh*t.

I just read a report on ESPN that Terrelle Pryor won't appeal his five game ban unless it's what owner Al Davis "wanted him to do." Then I noticed that Pryor's agent is Drew Rosenhaus. Color me unsurprised.

Personally I think it's the right stance to take. Appealing the suspension himself makes him look like a whiny diva, but at the same time there's a good case to be made that the suspension is a power grab by the commissioner.

I'll be interested to hear how the five game suspension is debated too, purely from the perspective you mentioned Jolly Bill. The part that struck me was that it was Drew Rosenhaus who swept in and is now representing Pryor. That guy can pick 'em.

/bitter Eagles fan who watched Rosenhaus talk to the media for six straight months over TO's contract a few years ago

I saw Drew Rosenhaus walk Meet DeSean Jackson coming off a plane in Philly before he showed up to camp. The guy is all over. As long as no more TO-like ridiculousness is happening on the Eagles I'm happy to ignore the guy.
