Earthquake? In Maryland? (updated to include non-Marylanders)

That was weird.

Yeah. I'm not sure how to process that.

Edit: Just heard from my little sis up in State College, PA. They felt it too.

Ditto for Chadds Ford and Lancaster, PA

Also, we have two threads on this now.

It was just a little baby 5.8 though. Originating in VA. Hopefully no one got hurt.

Earthquake at 3.7 miles below the surface, epicenter Mineral, VA. Was like riding a wave here in Frederiscksburg - freaky. Added quite a bit of atmosphere to my Deus Ex experience. Neither my cell or home phone are working.

Be safe.

All the folks in the buildings around me are milling around in the street now.

Earthquakes and hurricanes - yeah Virginia, we do it right.

We felt it in Pittsburgh. I have to admit I'm still a little freaked out because I haven't experienced a quake before.

Didn't feel it down here.

But some clients up there no-showed a meeting. I guess they evacuated.

That's an awfully shallow epicenter. Out here things are built to handle that sort of nonsense, over there not so much. I hope everyone's okay, too.

Good grief = after that little one, my heart goes out even more as well as my "you guys got balls" to the Japanese. That whole earth moving under your feet and swaying building is for the birds - give me combat any day.

Felt nothing in CT, though a few miles from us they felt it, apparently. Maybe I'm just really unobservant.

My dog looked at me like "WTF man"? I looked at him like "arent you supposed to get a skittery and howl when earthquakes are coming"? Both of us were complete epic fail to the other

Lot of people felt it up here in CT. Hope everyone in the area is well.

NYC here. Our building was shaking. Cell towers are out and subways are fubar'd.

That......was intense. It felt like a train was running by. You could hear the ground moving. My legs are still tingling.

That was something I have never experienced and won't forget.

Man, I've had it drilled into me since I could process language that The Big One was coming any day now, and I better be ready at a moment's notice to leap into a doorway or under a desk, because you could spit on the fault line from the top of the monkey bars, and it's you beltway insiders and New York intellectuals that get hit. Typical Federal Government!

Man, now I feel even worse for not noticing it.

DC here. My building shook like the devil.

Outside now.

Crap. Just realized now I likely won't get my Deus Ex Amazon delivery today.

Our house shook several times, and then there was a big shake that made the frame move, at which time we grabbed the dogs and ran outside. Probably 10-15 seconds or so. Stuff fell off of shelves, but no damage. Very scary. I didn't sign up for earthquakes on the East Coast.

Which thread do I post in?

Here it felt like a really badly balanced load was spinning in the washing machine. The kind that'd walk the machine across the floor. I yelled for the kids to stop jumping up and down before noticing that the feeling was more general, like something I felt plenty of times while living in So. Cal.

+1. Book, dishes, the whole house swayed - I thought it was a tornado or an airliner coming down. I was playing Deus Ex - immersion FTW.

The Maryland thread is only for the Maryland people! Wait a sec...

No sh*t. Hurricanes I can deal with. Earthquakes are for Californians.

Felt it in Brooklyn. They evacuated the building where I worked for 20 minutes. Just let us back in a few minutes ago.

I agree. No earthquakes or tornadoes allowed.

The only thought I had was "Oh shiznit, I'm sitting on 20k gallons of highly flammable liquid."

Probably sad that my first thought was I better not lose power this Deus Ex game is awesome.

Oohhh! You broke your cherry! /California

We had to evacuate the building here at Aberdeen Proving Ground. I thought that they just lit off a particularly big boom.
