The 2011 Post-PAX Party

PAX is nearly upon us. It’s three days of intensive sensory bombardment and the high-point of each year. Its conclusion usually gives way to the post-con blues. Most of you will immediately fly back to your normal lives, careful to hide your secret identity from Bill in Accounting (that guy’s a dick).

But, for those of you who are not returning immediately, there is the 2011 Post-PAX Party. We can stave off those blues a little longer. My family is happy to host it; here’s the information.

It takes place on Sunday starting at 6PM. I realize that PAX technically ends at 7, but some of us will have peeled off early. You can RSVP for this by simply replying to this thread. Once you do, I’ll PM you with the PDF driving instructions & local map.

What you can expect

Fun. I’ve connected a whole mess of classic gaming systems everywhere I can find a screen and a pair of speakers. We have a bunch of board games on hand, but feel free to bring your own. That’d be wild. There will be tables, and also a spot in the detached garage for larger playing spaces.
We will be providing some base-level munchables, plus coffee, tea, bottled water, etc. No full-blown cooking can happen (we lack the space), but it's quite easy to heat things up in the oven or microwave. You’ll certainly want to bring whatever food and/or alcohol you prefer.

It goes without saying to drink responsibly, especially if you expect to be driving anywhere later.

I'm in, though I won't actually have a car when I'm in Seattle, so finding my way there might be a bit of an adventure, depending on how far out you are.

Yellek and I should be in.

Have a friend I'm dropping off at the airport at 7-ish, but I'm game for after that!

I'm in!

I most likely won't be able to make it, since I've got a long drive back to Aberdeen and work early the next day. I wish I could, it sounds like it will be a good time.

In, but I'll almost certainly be late--I'll call/text someone to make sure it's still going by the time I'm able to get over there.

I'll be there, had a blast at the one at Jonman's last year. Looking forward to yours as well.
How's the public transit in your area anyway? I guess there is always a cab...

Same for me. Perhaps a group of us can carpool together, or share a cab.

Same here, I'm sure we can sort something out.

Okay, first batch of PM's will be on their way shortly. Seattle has decent public transit, it's just that because it's a Sunday, it might be tricky. If you are able to carpool, that's great. A cab should be relatively inexpensive, especially with everyone sharing. I'm sorry to those of you who can't make it! I understand that everyone needs to get back to regular life, though.

I should be there!

I'll be there! I will try to bring a little food as well. I'm not much into beer, but is there a place around that I could get some cider?

A cab share sounds great. Perhaps anyone taking a cab or public transit could all meet in a certain place at PAX to see if we can group carpool up?

I'm in.

I'm in this year, and in for car-pooling etc.

I have to be heading back up to Vancouver around 6-7pm, so if folks need a ride out there, I can drop them off at The DocBadWrench's on my way up north, but you'll have to find some other way back to where you're staying.

I have room for me +4 in my car and I don't mind driving folks home afterwards.

I'll have my board games with me all weekend:
-Pandemic
-Forbidden Island
-Puerto Rico
-Ca$h n Gun$
-Dominion (vanilla, no expansions)
-Le Havre
-Citadels
-Lost Cities
-Ticket to Ride
-Twilight Imperium

I think Yellek and I are staying downtown so we may be able to carpool.

What would be a good carpooling spot? Ideally it would be near the convention center of course. But it would need to have space for people to park, even just a quick stop to pick up people.

Caught up! Depending upon how things shape up, I'll be able to take a few folks.

That would be cool! I'm also okay with sharing a cab of course. Your bus system confuses me a lot and also scares me a little...

Put me down as going and can volunteer to carpool up to 3 people as well.

If anyone's interested in cabbing together (or has room and is willing to drive back to downtown) feel free to PM me for my email/cell info so we can coordinate. Alternatively Twitter or meeting up at the S&T are both viable options.

For anyone looking to share rides or a cab. There is a water fountain on the ground floor of the convention centre near both escalators and the doors. How about we all meet up there at about 5:30-6:00pm and group up?

Sounds good to me!

I have a card table and 4 folding chairs. Should I bring them?

I think we're good, Krylez. But thanks for the offer.

Thanks for hosting this! By the time I was freed up to go, it was late and I was tired. I'm excited for more Seattle-area meetups though; I think Edwin had noted a high concentration of goodjers just in his neighborhood.

Thanks for hosting this docbadwrench! Was a ton of fun. Also many thanks to Krylez for introducing us to the deeper end of the strategy boardgame pool and getting us home at 2am
