Venture Bros. Season 4 (and higher) Catch All

f*ck.
But if it means I get one more episode on the quality level of everybody goes to hanks then f*ck it, its worth it.

Bring back 24 and get rid of Sergeant Hatred. These are my demands which will probably not be met.

It's been so long since we heard anything, I'm not terribly surprised. Annoyed, though. That, I am.

This coming Sunday (28th) there is a special airing about Shallow Gravy (Hank and Dermott's band).

Also there is this.

I'm fine with Sergeant Hatred but I have a feeling that he'll be reduced to a secondary role now that him and Princess Tiny Feet are back together.

It's almost time to make a Season 5 Catch-All.
This past Sunday was the 2012 Halloween Special. Fret not if you missed it, it is on again Thursday night (i think, check local listings).

You can also watch it on Adult Swim if you don't have a rinky dink cable company like me.

Too bad they've changed their service so that you have to be approved by your cable company to watch online their online videos.

Remember the good ole days when whoever ran adult swim seemed to get the internet, and they'd do things like premiere eps early online? That was sure nice.

Those bastards!

Season 3 was pretty awesome like that.

Aww. I don't get any rerun of the show. I hope they advertise like crazy when the show comes back on air so I'll actually know when it's on.

I'm stuck in the hospital amidst starting chemo. The only good thing I've had to really lighten my spirits is the Halloween Special, which was fantastic and I've viewed several times this week. Doc and Jackson still have it. Tons of great jokes, amazing twists of references, and more of that character-driven stuff that also allows us to enjoy this as more than just a clever parody. This show has so much heart it's stupid.

Spoiler:

Seriously, that was some solid speech, Dr. Orpheus. Lucky you, the sincerity got dampened a bit by that Hellraiser-derrived "pleasure toast" thing, which was hilarious and deeply disturbing. Meanwhile, Dean is dismayed to find out about his clone heritage and its played pretty straight, save for ball-sniffing pets and the beer/peepee line in the tag. The range these guys can play, I tells ya.

Changed the title, may as well quit making threads for each season. Alas, Season 5 begins May 19th at midnite, check your local listings.

I need to look into how I can actually keep up with this season. I kept up with season three through the adult swim website, and I think I just outright bought the season four dvds. It's been so long.

I doubt it'll happen, but I hope for the return of the traitor Phantom Limb and his cold, precise revenge. He's possibly my favorite extra minor character.

I don't usually do it this way, but the aforementioned "watched the Halloween special in the hospital" post saw me buy the episode through iTunes the day after it aired so I and a visiting friend could watch it. Otherwise, I've been getting the episodes via...um, magic, and I don't feel bad because I buy the DVDs, bought a bunch of t-shirts back when the Shirt of the Month Club was going during season 3, etc. etc. If Doc and Jackson take issue with that, they're entitled to come stab this 31-year-old boy with a disease to death. Honestly, life was best during Season 3 - AS/CN used to put them up for streaming on the site every Friday afternoon *before* the Sunday TV airing. My old web dev job was a hoot then - half the staff would stop everything and watch together, and the remote folks would chime in via chat. Alas, they're not so much about the whole eps any longer.

Still! May! Woo!

Oh, and just to brag: I'd been sitting on this awesome promo poster dating from around the time of the show's original roll-out (remember the "Cockpits! Booby traps!" ad patter?) for years, but only just recently got it together and framed the thing:

Don't let the funky gotta-avoid-blinding-glare-from-the-ceiling-fan-light angle of the photo fool you. 14"x16" glorious inches and it's f*cking boss, hoss.

That's an awesome poster, ianunderhill. Reminds me that I still need to get this thing framed....

Problem being that the size is so non-standard that I need a custom frame, which means more money than I want to spend at the moment.

Damn you both and your awesome posters.

In all fairness, I think WipEout's is classified as a print. And if it's not, it should be.

Also: what I wouldn't give for prints of the Season 2 DVD box art. All of it. It's my favorite.

What they said. You lucky jerks.

EDIT: I've never been able to figure out which movie posters they're referencing in that print (also the cover to Season 1 DVD I think). Anyone know?

I'd always figured it was just a series of stylistic pastiches and not really in reference to specific films. Would love to find out I'm wrong, though.

That's also what I figured. Just old action movie send-ups.

Is that print done by Bill Sienkiewicz? It's very reminiscent of his style from Elektra and a couple of Daredevil graphic novels.

That's what I thought too, but the style is so dead-on, I almost feel like there's some specific posters they're referencing. But it would make sense if there's nothing in particular they're paying homage to.

A quick google search would seem to indicate that. I don't have it in front of me right now to check for a sig.

I really hope that the Halloween special is going to play the week before the premiere or just before the new season starts.

I believe the Halloween episode is actually considered the 4th or 5th episode of the 5th season.

There has been an update to youtube by AS, the new series now premieres June 2nd at midnite. You can watch an 8 minute history/recap of S1-4 of the Venture Brothers below!

For those that my be interested, they will be doing the t-shirt club again for this season.
