It's a good thing that Fletcher has that VOICE MODULATOR (hint hint) so some unmentionable people won't know that he's continuing on with the radio show.

It is a pity that we are losing such a charismatic personality in our Radio, but I am immensely glad for Fletch. His immense talent is acknowledged by the outside world. A tremendous validation.

I also hope that he will give The Escapist a kick in the pants which is really needed, IMHO. Despite all the accolades The Escapist gets from the haughties and fickliest of the ever-intellectual gamers' demographics, I just find it inexhorably boring. They're talking about trite, obvious things, and it just pains me to read one artsy screenful after another about something that would be best summed up in one paragraph blurb.

Our (or now, rather, their) Fletch, however, got this activity down to such a science, that he can talk about trite and obvious things for half an hour, and still make it immensely entertaining, fresh, witty, and fun. That's what separates them from the eggheads over at The Escapist. Talk about talent.

I am glad for Fletch that he moves to this vaunted outfit, and I am glad for that outfit because there's now someone who's going to show them how it's done properly. The only party that is left in the lurch is ourselves, the Radio-less Goojers. My only hope is that maybe The Escapist will eventually produce a podcast spin-off. Theeez eeez The Free Escapist Radio, the aoooudio extension of The Escapist, the only web site that loves you and your momma!.

That, or maybe The Escapist eventually buys out GWJ. IMAGE(http://www.smileyhut.com/scared/fear.gif)

That, or maybe The Escapist eventually buys out GWJ.

Scary.

Anyway, Congratz Fletcher! Thanks for all the time and effort you've put in here. You will, of course, be missed. I know your influence in our gaming lives will continue in whatever form you find most appropriate.

Congrats Fletcher! I hope "the man" won't keep you from posting on the boards.

The intarweb will sorely miss one of it's better gaming podcasts.

Happy for you, yet sad for me... This does not compute. In any case, good luck Fletcher. Hands down, the best gaming podcast on the interweb, and one of the best all around. Maybe someone can edit his voice like they did with South Park's Chef... Yes.... Yeeees....

So many "Your Mom" jokes, so little time ...

Thanks to all for the grats and well wishes. This has been a crazy month and I now have a long-distance relocation to look forward to. Yeehaw. Still, I'm tremendously delighted to have been given this new opportunity and enourmously proud to have had the chance to work with the folks at GWJ for the past two years, and of the work we have done here together.

I don't think I'll be vanishing from the face of the forums entirely, so this isn't goodbye exactly, just ... well, actually it is goodbye. I'll miss Radio and the unflinching weekly deadlines (oh wait ... still gonna have that ...hrm ...) and most of all, I'll miss sharing my thoughts and my art with you all, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the months ahead have in store not only for me but for this site as well. So maybe it's not goodbye after all. I need a synonym for "goodbye" that doesn't mean goodbye exactly. sh*t. I'm screwing it up already. Did I pack my thesaurus?

Anyway, you guys are in great hands here. I hear that Lobo is already working on his singing voice and that Kat and The Fly are practicing a "routine." Not sure what that means, but it sounds sexy. If it's not, blame Shawn.

Oh man, what a bummer. Maybe you can get The Escapist to do a weekly radio show and get Shawn to do it with you. I guess I'm left with Gaming Steve and Gamespot.com's podcasts now.

Agreed 100%. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Fletch will bring to The Escapist.

As for the show, it's been a pleasure working on it over the past few months. Like all good producers, Fletch has a real flair for bringing out the best in those with whom he works. I'm going to miss those weekly emails requesting a knockoff of some random disco tune, and the subsequent attempt to figure out how the hell I'm going to pull that one off.

Hopefully the show is somehow reincarnated in the future, but if it isn't it's still been a fun ride. GWJ FTW!

Ian FTW.

Aw, group hug!

Hey, who grabbed my ass?

Color me suprised, I never knew the Escapist had physical offices, let alone some so large that they required janitorial services. Fletch, do you prefer "hygeine engineer", or the more traditional "custodian"?

Sigged and quoted for truth.

Let me echo all the congratulations and bittersweet goodbyes that everyone else has beaten me to the punch in saying. Though it's a shame that GWJ Radio is on indefinite hiatus, at least it isn't for anything bad. Here's hoping that they don't get some loudmouth, talkative airhead to replace you, Fletch. Now back to Oblivion...

Deep Sadness.

It is the end of an era. I echo everybody else's sentiments. Awhile back I missed 7 weeks of work for paternity leave so when I got back I had tons of RADIO to listen to all at once. I feel like I'm losing some good friends I was just getting to know. Bless you in your new move and your new job. Live the dream!

BTW, you can never talk about Oblivion too much.

Here's hoping that some kind of podcast will be reborn in the near future.

Congrats, Fletcher!
I'll certainly be missing the radio, but I'll look forward to reading you in the Escapist. How soon will your words grace their digital pages?

I haven't listened to the podcast, so I'm not completely sure what's going on, but I take it that Fletch is leaving us for a magazine of some denomination? Doing radio or print?

Either way, congrats, I'll miss you.

Neither, actually, he's going to work at that new-fangled online thingy, The Escapist.

Ah. Well, and I've listened to the relevant part of the podcast too. Working at the escapist should be fun! While I've heard some bad stories from other writers who've worked for them, none of them were staffers, so I'm sure their experiences are isolated. I'm thrilled for you and can't wait to hear how everything turns out.

Too bad about the end of gwjradio though. I'd help if I could; I did radio, so I have the voice...but I have no idea how the production end of things works. I'd just trip over the wires, really. But, if anyone steps up to bat on that end, I'd be glad to volunteer some time for voice work.

GOOD for you, Fletch! Bad for us, great for you, and for the Escapist. We'll miss the Radio show, but I assume you'll still be around the forums? Be sure to stick around and throw sticks at us non-gaming-employed plebes.

Edit: yeah, nothing to see here. Move along, move along.

So, does that mean the end of the gwj podcasts, since they were produced by Fletch?

Unfortunately so. As Fletch hints in the 'cast, there is a chance that the show may be reincarnated in some form at some point, but GWJ Radio as we know it is done.

Yeah, I got farther in the broadcast and answered my own question...so edited my response.

I'm not suprised one bit, I knew it was a matter of time before some evil corporate guys in black suits came and snatched you away from us. Before you leave, please tell me the secret of that buttery sweet voice. Do you gargle once or twice in the morning?

Just kidding. I will now rehash (I mean it) what everyone else is saying and congratulate you on the new job. I look forward to seeing you in the Escapist.

Certis, what the hell am I supposed to listen to at work now? Mex, Rat Boy, how's your radio voices?

Damn. Well, I guess you can say they figured a way to break the continual Oblivion Love-a-thon. Still, thats a bit of a kick to the jewels what with Fletch leaving and all. Sorry to hear the radio shows leaving. My evening commute will go back to sucking again.

Congratulations Fletch! You deserve it!

BTW-That is one SLOWWWWW download.

Semper Fi, GWJRadio and Fletch.

So who is going to be the next President of the "Outdated GWJ Computer Gaming Club" now that it's leader, poster boy, and bathroom attendant has left the building??

Congrats Fletch.. even though I don't even know what the Escapist is it *has* to pay better than this place. Good luck on your move and new venture.

I'll take the nomination, Mayfield.

While the rest of us point and click our way through the internet, Flether is in it. He walks around the pantheon of sites and his will is data. In the future our children's children will speak of the Fletcher myth. Shhh, is legend.

So who is going to be the next President of the "Outdated GWJ Computer Gaming Club" now that it's leader, poster boy, and bathroom attendant has left the building??

You'll find Lobo two doors down on his 800 mhz P3 system

All the well wishes for Russ are much appreciated, it definitely relieves some of the completely irrational guilt I feel about GWJ Radio taking a break. We've also gotten a ton of supportive email too, which is always nice. It's too soon to even think about details of how to carry it on, we'll just have to wait and see for the moment. With E3 coming up so quickly, we'll be waiting at least until that's done before there's any new developments.

We will leave the Podcast feed code as is, so if Radio is back in action at some point, your podcast programs will pick it up!

Somehow you managed to pack a whole lotta gaming love through that small podcast feed. I'm going to miss that special voodoo and hope you can find a way to bring it back some day, in whatever form. Certis, I am dead serious when I say that you blabbing about Oblivion for 30 minutes each week would be great. But I understand that you want to maintain a certain level of quality and that might not be acceptable to you who are in charge at GWJ, especially for attracting new goodjers who may have missed the former podcasts. But I would vote in favor if that were a possibility.

Congrats to Fletcher and here's to transitional periods and new opportunities!
