Myth II Game?

So Coldforged got me all excited about Myth II again, there's a new 1.5 patch out and online play thanks to PlayMyth. Then he chickened out, possibly fearing my m4d sk1llz.

So does anyone still have Myth II sitting around? Let's get a match together. If you have Myth II, say what night would be good to play and we can get a game together.

I don''t have it but I would go buy it again to do that exploding thrall level co-op again.

This is the first I''ve heard about fan-made patches for Myth II. What does it do? And be warned, I really suck at this game.

I think I still have it, but got really sick of it, so I''m willing to let somebody have it. PM me if you''re interested. I''m not 100% sure, so don''t get your hopes up.

And, no, this is not a call to ressurect the ""Trades"" forum.

It updates it to work on modern OSes such as XP and Mac OSX. Implementes OpenGL support, netplay that''s not dependent on bungie.net and adds alot of tools for mod and map makers. There''s probably other stuff, alot of bug fixes.

I can''t believe nobody is jonesing for some Myth II action! *sigh* Now I feel

I can''t find the game anywhere for PC, although Microcenter still has copies of the Loki Linux port lying around. I think they also have the Wolf Age port as well.

I was going to buy it on principle, since these games seem to be going up in price.

Is the game any good?

I will stab you mercilessly if you don''t buy Myth II and play it.

I still have my copy. Myth II was one of my first online experiences and is still one of my all time favorite games.
The Mods, particularly the WW2 mods are/were fantastic.

I''ll see if I can find my copy and I''ll install.

Just when I thought your avatar couldn''t get any more scary.

Ok, I picked up Myth II Worlds at Microcenter for 2.99. That good enough for a game?

Put it on the calendar.

How about I put one up for Monday night?

That sounds good to me. Just opened up the box, and found Myth
II Soulblighter, plus the two worlds CDs.

That seems likek a helluva lotta gaming for 2.99.

BTW, there were like 100 copies at Microcenter. I''m sure I can hook you guys up with copies if you want them.

Okay, game is up! Carnage at Madrigal!

Hey guys, PMA Bloo here, I''m one of the admins over at playmyth.net (webmaster, db stuff, etc) Just wanted to say that I''m going to try out the Game Calendar over at www.playmyth.net I''ve been keeping an eye out for a good calenaring solution, as I haven''t got much time to build one from scratch, and since the backend is based on postnuke as well, should fit in nicely. (with about a zillion modifications due to order/clan support, a who''s online, buddy online list, ranking system and other stuff)

In the last year we''ve served up over 500,000 games of Myth (The Fallen Lords, Soulblighter and The Wolf Age) we support the entire series. If you''re looking for a CD for any of the games, try ebay, there''s always a lot around there.

Is the creator of this mod around here? I wanted to say thanks, and mb I''ll have some Qs about this thing.

Bloo-

Welcome aboard, and all sever related info, talk to Pyro. He''s the guru.

Ok, I''ve tried justabout everythign to get Myth II stable, and its still crashing. Compatibility isn''t working.

Any ideas? I''m basically down to trying wineX, see if it runs that way.

What I had to do was install fresh from the CD, install the latest v1.4, install openglide, configure everything, then install the latest 1.5. For some reason 1.5 crashes in the configuration first time around.

Yeah bloo I made it for GWJ, it''s at http://gamecalendar.sourceforge.net. It works very well, the only possible problem you could have would be performance, but if you''re using PostNuke then that may not be an issue yet. Let me know how it goes!

Ah, I did those steps backward. 1.4, 1.5 then openglide, crash-ola. I''ll try it your way.

You know what''s sad? It''s the original Myth multiplayer that I remember playing unto death so much. I was of the opinion that there was no higher form of gaming than playing King Of The Hill on For Carnage Apply Within. When Myth II came out, I actually created a conversion of that map for Myth II, placing every one of the trees and tufts of grass in by hand. Just loved it.

I really never played Myth II multiplayer itself that much. Odd, huh?

OK, I installed the game and I''m going to give it a try again. I never got very far the first time but maybe I''ll make good cannon fodder or something.

*bump*
Curse you Pyro, for giving me a new addiction!
I''ve been totally caught up in Myth II since I installed it a few days ago. I don''t know why I ever passed this one up the first time around.
I bought the Total Codex"" package a few years ago because I thought it looked fun. I played the first Myth until I found it too hard and put the set away.
However, your raving and threats of stabbings prompted me to try number 2 (I passed it up because I wanted to finish TFL first) and it''s great fun.
Once I get a bit better at it perhaps you can laugh at my multiplayer skills.

Looks like a interesting game. Never seen anything about it other than the name, might check it out if someone can pull me away from Full Spectrum Warrior.

Maybe when I get my internet back we can try another game with some of the new converts! Or maybe I''ll just play multiplayer myself

I have yet to get it working, but then again I have yet to try the secret handshake method either. Maybe sometime this weekend I''ll have time.

Well, I got it installed, patched up with Project Magma''s 1.5 patch and I played the tutorial and first mission. So far so good! Is there anything else I should be looking to install for Myth II?

Its been years since I played, however I dug out my copy and installed the 1.5 patch. Time to load up the tutorial and re-learn it all over again!

Hey, you guys wanna play a game this week? Tuesday and Thursday are good nights for me, but I can also make it Monday or Wed.

Thursday is Raven Shield night you heathen. I vote Tuesday!

Stone him! Stone him! Cast him out!

(Thursday-Night Raven Shield is sacrosanct!)

I won''t be able to play Tuesday (Alien Swarm night!), but hope to join some other time to see the mad little dwarves blow me to bits.

DM, you hosting somthing over on WSA we should know about?

Just the usual Tuesday game night. We rotate each week between UT and BFV. This week is UT and we''re choosing to play Alien Swarm. You are most welcome to join if you''d like to play.

Ok, I''ll jump in on that. Now, I''ve got to remember what my password is for WSA, and put on some sunglasses to get past all the NEON. Geez.
