Assassin's Creed Revelations

I think at least parts of Bushido Blade were pretty toned down (not exactly their "liberated" women), and wasn't there another realistic swordfighting game at some point? Way of the Samurai? Then there was that one that was based on real battles that actually took place, where you needed to target the weak spot on the giant enemy crab for massive damage.

Those are very different games from an Assassin's Creed, though. The other problem with a Japanese setting is getting the Assassins and Templars to Japan in the first place. The nation has been isolationist for most of its history.

This is the series where you have a fistfight with the Pope because he's misusing the wizard staff he stole from the dead aliens. I think they're okay with stretching the truth for plot purposes.

Well said, sir!

Less of a problem than you think. Realistically, there are two time periods where I think they would use: The Meiji Restoration period and the Sengoku period.

The Meiji Restoration is pretty easy to get both parties there: just make Commodore Perry a Templar. It's actually pretty great backdrop for the series, because it's a time of gigantic change, both culturally and in terms of technology.

Spoilered the rest for an argument for the Sengoku period:

Spoiler:

The codex map Ezio collected in AC2 had two assassin's icons in around Tibet and in the Phillipines area. I think these represent Vaults for the Pieces of Eden. In addition, there are some other markers, one of which is pretty much where Tokyo is today. It's pretty obvious that the implication is that there are things important to the Assassins in Asia. Ezio is clearly aware of it, because of the map, so it's entirely possible that one of his direct descendents could go there.

Plus, there were Jesuit missionaries in Japan in the 1600's, so they could just have some Templars go along with them.

Really curious to see how the whole duality between Altair and Ezio pans out. Great story, great concept and the AC:R trailers so far have been pretty kickass.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite trailer on the Citadel. :p

Looks awesome!

It's almost as if Ubisoft is reaching right into my pocket and taking my money.

Dub Step. Assassin's Creed Revelations. Together.

Really? I don't hate dub step, but man is it getting used in a lot of weird places as of late.

AC has always used music a little different than you would associate with the crusades/renaissance in it's trailers. The first trailer was UNKLE. It's only in game where it's traditional.

I know. Doesn't make it good See also Dragon Age: Origins using "This is the New Sh**".

Of course, there's the whole Giant Bomb created meme about Kanye West's Power being the ultimate trailer music that works with everything after it was seen in a Forza 4 trailer.

AC:R version:

Would it be bad form for me to use this as my signature, even though it's full of spoilers?

out of context, no one is going to know what this is spoiling unless they've already played; and therefore they aren't spoiled. do it!

Go forth and fight the assassin aliens with God's blessing.

I didn't really mind the use of it in that trailer, but if you want to see dub step used right:

Dub step?

Kids these days.

Ok, good. Glad I'm not the only one feeling left out of this.

People still listen to dubstep? How 2005.

New gameplay vid. Really looking forward to this. I'm hoping that Ubi releases this on the PC at the same time this time... but I won't hold my breath.

Mass Effect is just future Assassin's Creed. Think about it.

Power Sword = Hidden blade...

But where's the wall climbing?

What do you mean, there's been parkour since Mass Effect 1. Don't tell me you didn't know that. I can't imagine how you got through either game without it!

Did you not watch the new video? He's unable to climb!

Yeah. Arthritis. Ezio's seen better days.

The first piece of elite assassin's kit Ezio earns in the new game will be a step ladder he can carry around with him.

Two words. Moon shoes.

Well we know he can't climb... and we know he has a ton of bombs... but how could he possibly get to high places?

Hey, I remember in Monkey Island, Guybrush would simply carry a humongous ladder in his pocket and just whip it out (the ladder) whenever he needed it. Who says Ezio can't do the same?

Although given his age, maybe it should be a Zimmer frame instead.
