Need more Lions activity. Durant is solid but come on!

They've signed CB Eric Wright, though that deal too won't be official until later today.

Anything is an upgrade I suppose. :p

I hate to say it, but it's a great move for them. They can install the 'running QB' offense and not miss a beat when Vick gets hurt.

Yeah, but his glass ego won't last long once he gets showered with Philly-style boo birds. Wait, did that sound too much like *Legion*?

This gets talked about a lot, but McNabb did very well and certainly seems to have a fragile ego now. I think QB's in Philly may get beaten up by the press/fans, but it sure looks like the t
eam knows how to keep them performing.

VY couldn't handle crowd heat in Nashville, he will drive off a cliff the first time Philly gets in his sh*t. McNabb's ego is nothing like VY's.

Looks like Dareus and Locker signed.

Roy Williams to the Bears.

Jonathan Joseph was the one guy I really, really wanted to come to Tampa. I guess they're sticking with Talib, at least until he goes to jail.

Braylon Edwards and James Jones need to head to Chicago along with Roy; they could be the first team to actually have a negative catch rate for their WRs.

McNabb's problem is with not being "the Man" and not being treated like "the Man".

In his entire time in Philly, Andy Reid made sure to treat him like "the Man".

Ever since the Eagles sent him packing, McNabb has not received that treatment (coddling, one might say). He appears perplexed that people aren't falling all over themselves for him. He's still convinced he's a top 10 QB, even a top 5 one.

And, of course, a large amount of McNabb's time in Philly went more or less smoothly because for most of his time there, McNabb was good. Unlike that new Eagle QB, who has never, ever been actually good.

Oh, this is too good. It's so Bengals.

Johnathan Joseph listed on training camp accommodations sign in Bengals camp.

Joseph, of course, turned down the Bengals and signed with the Texans instead.

I don't know of any other Johnathan Joseph in the NFL and the rest of the players on that list are all DBs so it's hard to imagine that they meant someone besides the new Texan corner.

Problem is, both of those guys are a catch % upgrade over Devin Aromashodu.

Oakland has DHB and Johnnie Lee Higgins, I don't know how they haven't pulled it off themselves yet. Stupid Louis Murphy.

As a Ravens fan, I'm glad to see him go. Suck it Cincy! You've got to pay and win games to keep talent around.

Jags finalize deal for Dawan Landry.

Meanwhile, charges dropped against the NFL's least attractive wife, Michi Nogami-Stabby-Stab-Marshall

Only because Kurt Warner retired.

The Jags are having a nice week for that defense. Tampa, of course, hasn't signed a single free agent who wasn't on their team last year. Yes, build through the draft, but, uh, you know, one guy would be nice.

Nnamdi to Philly. Shocker!

For about five minutes after I heard the Jets and Cowboys were out I had visions of Awesome-wah dancing in the Texans backfield. Then Schefter (and Philly) crushed my (admittedly far-fetched) dreams.

Whoooooooooooooooooooa.

Philly will have a hell of a secondary.

And Babin, and Lee, and Higgins. Busy day for them.

Wow

After we signed two other players, I knew we weren't going to pay up for Nnamdi. Still very positive, though. And Texas A&M got a 2012 commit yesterday and a 2013 commit today, so it's been a great 24 hours for my football teams adding talent.

Ugh I hate the Eagles...

So Samuel goes from being the star to being 3rd string? I would not be surprised if he is traded.

Jags sign CB Drew Coleman. Not a big signing but a good nickel corner for a secondary who could use one. Definitely an upgrade over the random rotation of guys that played that role last year.

Normally I'd agree with any Brenda-Warner-is-oogly talk, but she is still identifiable as a woman.

He's in New York, clearly everyone hates his teams.

As always, Vic was right. Well, almost right.

No per-team spending limits are in effect until 2013.

While the league owes the players no less than 99% of the salary cap, individual teams have no floor (not even the 89% floor) pushing them to a minimum spending limit. The difference has to be paid out by the league.

The only part Vic got "wrong" was that he was informed there was a one-year lifting of the salary floor, when in fact it is two years.

Oh, but there's another wrinkle. That 99% of the salary cap figure is actual payroll, not cap numbers. So, signing bonuses - which for cap purposes are prorated over the length of the contract - count in their entirety for 2011 with regards to that 99% figure. So, teams don't in fact need to all average 99% of cap space usage, just have payrolls that meet that number. For 2011 this will be easy, as this is Year 1 of the new cap.

Anyway, the lack of any sort of floor explains why the Glazers have no free agents for Milkman to enjoy.

Giants, Yankees, Rangers

But there IS one team I hate more....Cowboys led by Jerruh the owner.

Cowboys suuuuuuuuuuuuck!

Unfortunately, however, the Cowboys just fired three Longhorns, and still have two Aggies (Martellus Bennett, who I met in an airport security line, and Stephen McGee, who got some nice playing time while Romo was out). So it's getting harder to root for Cowboy humiliation.
