GWJ Online Boardgame Group

Likewise for me. What games are you looking to play tonight?

Could someone send me a group invite? I've wanted to try 7 Wonders since hearing about it on the podcast.

I'm up for anything really. Was kinda going to see what others wanted to play.

Joined the group. What're people using to chat? Vent? I see that they recently updated the Mac version but have never used it.

Can I get an invite to the group?

It's Monday. I've watched the YouTubes you linked and I'm hoping to find more specific rules to review for Wednesday. What's the plan? Start time at 8pm EDT. Get in Vent and where else? Steam group chat? Channel GWJ on Brettspielwelt? Overexcited. Need to go take some deep breaths now.

EDIT: I always forget to check the official websites for rules:

Ventrillo for chat, because then we can split off tables as they get started. 8PM start (I may be a little bit late this time but will shoot for it).

Please add me to the group: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/7...

Tagging for later interest!

Well, I'm working on getting setup on jeuxsurunplateau.com for playing 7 wonders. Still waiting on that user confirmation email. From looking at the boardgamegeek.com thread on it, it seems lots of people were having problems. If we are in fact using jeuxsurunplateau.com for playing 7 wonders, I suggest people try signing up ahead of time.

Edit: I see this BSW thing is being used. I'll have to go investigate that.

Eek! T minus 23 hours. I've gotta do my homework on these games.

The user confirmation email for jeuxsurunplateau often goes to spam folder - check there, it went there for me. I'm happy to play there as I speak french, but I understand the language barrier is a pain.
As for BSW - Just download the client and create an account - we can guide you through the BSW interface on gamenight. It's finnicky but when you have people who know it it helps.

Don't worry too much about learning all of them - focus on one or two if you don't have time - Seven Wonders and Pandemic are the easiest IMO.

Crap. I wanted to get on tomorrow, but I've got to go for a pair programming session in my 5th of 6 interviews for a job I really, really want, right after I get off of work. Looks like I won't be home in time. Maybe next week.

7 wonders on BSW is easy enough my 7 year old plays. Just saying.

It's boardgame day! HOORAY!

Now to read rules all day and wait.

Hm. Don't think I'll be able to make it tonight - girlfriend's plans fell through so we're hanging out. Next week for sure. If people want to play late-night (After 11PM EST), hang out in vent - I'll be game.

Oh, and added.

I will likely skew a bit late tonight as I'm on the west coast, but I should still be on around 8PM EST.

If people are interested in an online "play-by-email" version of Tikal, I started up another one at http://www.spielbyweb.com

Game Name - GWJ-Tikal-2
PW - GWJTikal

This may have been covered already, but what site/service are we going to use to play these 3 games today?

I think I saw upthread that we're using BrettSpielWelt - I think it covers all three of the games on tap.

(And yeah, if work allows me to leave at a reasonable time, I should hopefully be online for this tonight.)

Christmas-morning-excited about this. I'm expecting to be on at 8 sharp. I also joined the Tikal game mudbunny started (2 posts up).
I've played Pandemic (love it).
I haven't played San Juan, but I've played Puerto Rico.
I've never played 7 Wonders, but I've read through the rules.
Obviously, I don't really have anything important to say. I'm just burning off some of the excited anticipation.

UPDATE: So excited!

I'm going to just stay at work and play (or at least observe) from my laptop and my work computer. I've got BSW installed and have goofed around with it a little bit.

If you want to maximize your game time, fire up BSW and just go into the room for all the different games you might want to play -- that way all the art will get cached.

Also, DO download the actual BSW client from the brettspielwelt.com front page. It's the same thing (just the java, in executable format) but it will better manage the cache of artwork and such.

One note: when we get into games tonight, we generally have one person start the game and then tell everyone to type "/hook gwjrabbit" or whomever. A few notes.

- names are case sensitive.
- when you hook someone, you often get dumped into a wierd looking room with a table in it. If you get there, you need to click on the door or the table (I think) to the actual game itself.

Can I get an invite to the group please?

I'd love to hop into the weekly games if I'm able. I've also got Memoir '44, and would be happy to play against anyone.

Tried this, but for some reason it went all crazy-looking. Not sure why, but the display was throwing up wacky squares of varying colors. I'm running 2 ATI 4850s (crossfire'd), on an e8500 cpu using Win7 64-bit.

Oddly, the online client works just fine.

Haha, that's pretty much how BSW always looks to me. You just get used to the interface after a while

Man I hope not. I'll try and put up some comparison screenshots, because while the online interface was ugly, the downloaded client was definitely having some sort of video-card/driver glitch.

Had a blast playing my first two games of 7 Wonders. Thanks all - can't wait 'till next week!
