I'm going to play around more with the online dynasty settings tonight but I think I have a great plan if it will let us do this.

2 conferences with 2 divisions. 3 teams per division. We lock the rivalry games in. Then go to the BCS bowl bid screen and set our conference champs to play.

BAM!

Awesome idea Leroy!!!! Thanks!!

BTW, did you know:
-The Beatles broke up
-The Cold War is over
-I was being sarcastic, you're a bit late on that idea
-And I couldn't think of more timely and relivant events that DON'T make me sound like my father
-That I have a dentist appointment in 2 hours and karma is a b*tch

I hope Rutgers never wins another game again.

Leroy, I think that is the best idea I've heard. I'm glad they made everything so customizable.

Yeah, I like that a lot, actually. You could actually get 9 human games a season. And you could almost assuredly get two more if you make the championship game and a bowl.

Are we all OK changing the landscape of college football around to put random teams in our created conferences? If that is the case, I will be able to be Hawaii in the BCS league and hopefully find someone to become my school's rival! None of you will want to make that cross ocean flight!!

I have no issues moving teams into other conferences.

I think it sounds kind of fun.

It's our world!

I know Michigan/Hawaii or Hawaii/Kansas will become great rivalries. Perhaps even Rutgers/Hawaii in the 15-hour-flight matchup would do the trick. I hope we can rename rivalry trophies.

The only issue is this...it will take forever to get through a season. On the other hand, anyone who can make it through that murders' row of games should be a strong contender for the championship!

That's my biggest concern too. Unfortunately, EA hasn't given us the "Playoff mode" option

I drove through Marshall a cole of weekends ago. Pretty country out that way. Tudors biscuits FTW.

I'm Marshall Alumni....and yes very pretty country...kinda on the slower side of things...and Tudors are second to best (My grandmother makes the best biscuits ever).

I do think that it will take a while to get through the season, but it will make the games all the more meaningful. We will also have a lot of time to explore the new dynasty options offline on our own before any of the other leagues shake out.

Maybe we won't want to get through too many seasons.

Eh, just the opposite of last year. Remember when 5 years in all the teams were dropping to Bs and Cs and there were no good teams left? Now it's skewed the other way. Probably some over-correction from that.

You know they'll be adjusting that tuning pack or whatever sometime soon.

This is the problem. It's all sliders to EA. It's like developing a bunch of spreadsheets and putting a football video game over the top of it. It goes out of whack in one direction and they change the sliders behind the scenes until the option is less effective and recruiting fundamentally changes. They need to rewrite this mess at some point.

Last year it was because one problem. The game did not generate enough P's and K's. So even elite teams were getting D's for Special Teams. The teams themselves were fine. And EA said they fixed this in a patch, but never did. In our 3rd and fourth seasons in our online league, you could count on several games a year where teams were missing multiple XP's, and could not hit a FG to save their lives.

I think the problem with it this year is that the game is tuned to their core audience: Teenagers that want to feel like every decision they make is awesome. So progression is made simple.

It's not really that much of a deal breaker. It's just kind of annoying. It could really break the Coaching Carousel mode, though.

I've played some with Kansas and SMU, the two teams I had in leagues. SMU, my team from the 2 Star league is now a 3 Star. Kansas is a 2 Star team now.

When I played Mizzou with Kansas, I got smoked. Mizzou has a great offense, and Kansas features Toben Opurum, my starting HB last year, at DE, and Keeston Terry, my star freshman WR at FS. Yeah, they are winging it this year. But I ran the ball pretty well out of the spread. But I threw a ton of picks.

But then I played #19 Texas A&M with SMU, and we played a nice tight game. My offense struggled, but then I never did learn to run the Run and shoot worth a damn. I ran SMU, with their bruiser HB, Zach Line, in either a One Back or Multiple formation offense.

On straight All-American, the game is tough. The main thing I think needs to be done is to bring down the INT's a notch. But I think we should wait and see how well we adapt to the new pass defense. It is tougher, but I think we may adapt and throw less picks if we give it some time.

One of the reasons I don't like starting a league too soon is that what we need in our first week of play vs. week 6 can be very different. But eight minute quarters produced a nice 120 plays or so. Well, as long as you don't use the Super Sim to skip playing defense.

Yep, once again Super Sim is broke. Each play runs as through the clock stops on every play. The CPU can go on a 12 play drive, running the ball on most downs, and eat up 1:30 of the clock. So if you sim defense, you will run a lot more plays, which not only jacks the stats, but makes it one hell of a lot easier to mount a comeback, as the CPU can't run the clock out at all. Since this was the same last year, I don't expect it to be fixed. But I only sim defense when I playing random games and practicing my offense.

I will fly our cheerleaders out to Hawaii with our team for the Rutgers/Hawaii "Camana Wanalaya" Bowl

Is there a post-game luau? I don't think the boosters are going to like paying all this money for a team that will not win the GWJ-East Conference.

Kush/Leroy,

You can go ahead and fill the leagues as you see fit without holding a spot for me once you guys get it rolling. It looks like it will be longer until I can devote serious time to a league (based on my current class schedule). I do look forward to checking out the offline dynasty for a while. I'll be around and check on the league's progress as well as other stuff on the boards. Have fun!

I mentioned on the other board that I played a little RtG last night. What I also did was download the Fairdale Kings roster set. I will have a metric ton of playing time between Thursday-Monday, so I intend on playing some RtG, as well as Dynasty mode and testing online league play. I may create the league by Sunday/Monday, and start handing out invites.

I still don't know who gets any remaining spots, but I will do some research on that this week as well.

Have you decided how you want to approach picking teams?

6-star schools are completely off-limits

That's as far as I've got
If you have a favorite school (IE, you with Michigan, and Firesloth with Notre Dame), I have no problem having those people playing with those schools. I'm trying to avoid Johnny Nobody signing up, and saying "I want to play as Alabama".

No, that wasn't a knock on you. If we get past the first couple of seasons, within reason, I will allow new users to play with big schools. That said, 6-star schools will not be used. They must be earned

Johny Nobody sounds pretty awesome :p

I'd like to get Michigan and then get moved into the Big East to tangle with you'z guyz

Guess I'll stick with TCU. Need to get that Fairdale roster loaded in and get some practice in though. Only played a couple of games so far.

I will come up with some structure for the league, I'm thinking 2 conferences, with two sub-conferences in each. We will have a conference championship, and then the winner of each conference will participate in a bowl game. You will have 2 rivals that you will play each year, and play two teams outside your conference. After 3 seasons, everyone should pretty much have played each other.

If we're going to have 2 leagues, I think maybe we should have everyone sign up now, and start filling the 2nd league. The main league already has 9-10 users, and if we can get enough people, we might be able to have 2 full leagues.

Spynavy, are you still interested in running the other league?

Well, Notre Dame is a 5* prestige school this year. I call schenanigans. (Actually, ND should have been a 5* school last year. There is an argument to be made that they're better off this year after playing well and ending strong last year.)

Whatever. I'd like to play as ND, but I'm happy to pick another school, too, if there's a desire to go more low brow.

I'm having to decide what I want to do. My preference is to usually just suck it up, take Kansas, and try ti improve them. But all that time in the 2Star league makes me really want to take SMU for a ride. They are up to a 3*, their QB is pretty good, and Zach Line is a beast of a HB.

Kansas is a lowly 2* now. They don't have a decent QB, and their defense is pretty much horrible.

But then, I might like to just play with a big boy team, and not start out so far behind the eight-ball.

This sounds pretty cool to me. Although it's even more incentive to find a stronger program to roll with.

Hmm. I see TCU is 5-star this year. Depending on how we decide to move forward, I would be OK with going to (shudder) Texas A&M, Texas Tech, or Houston. Like Jayhawker, I just don't want to be stuck with a 2 or 3 star team while everyone else is playing 5-star ball.

Although, rumors about the progression issue could lead to some interesting S2 and S3 shenanigans.

Michigan is 5* as well.
