GWJ MADDEN 11 LEAGUE 2.0 (XBOX 360) WEEK 10-11

Look im not trying to ruffer feathers here i just made comments that i think should be made or consider. I think the commish indiana does a good job here with the league. I also think the schedule is decent but it does need tweaking just a bit. Again there should be communcation between the players of the league. When i first got here it was put out in no settle therms that you had to have communcations to be apart of this community. Now things have fell off a bit and that is to be expect since the summer season has now come.
Also maybe the league wants to continue to run the way it is and that is fine with me. I just thought that after each and every season that things might need to be review to take a good look at how the season fair and to see if there is a chance to improve the product for all players that continue to be apart of this community.
It seem that this post did strike a interest in the community and that is good and with that maybe ideals and thoughts can be share. To bring about change can sometimes be good we not saying to mess with the concept of the league but at least open up the vision of the league to allow it a chance to grow.
We understand you want a community that is good and true but lets not fool ourself we must adhere to the now in all madden communites inorder to flourish and to continue to be the best. That just my humble opinion peace ALC

Also that games should be play with in a 24 to 48 hour time frame. Regaurdless if it either a human or computer opponet. The league should at least be playing 2 to 3 games a week. Yes i know we have jobs and responablities but we should be able to get our games in to show our commitment to the league.

I know I don't play in the Madden league, but this is the polar opposite of what I want out of a GWJ league. The main reason I enjoy playing with folks here is that we adults with far more important things to do than play games. But we love them, so we make time, and understand when other stuff takes us away.

Tb be honest, this is exactly why I bailed on the Madden league in the first place. Far too many Madden guys have come in that have no attachment to the community, and instead of fitting in, they try to make this league more like all of the other leagues many of us tried to avoid in the first place.

If I wanted more dedicated leagues, they are easy to find. But they are also annoying and filled with kids I don't want to play. They also churn through members and have no real sense of camaraderie. The drive to fill the league brought in plenty of guys in the madden league I would never play against. The small size of the NCAA leagues allowed us to focus on guys from the community much more, and there was less drive to lure in players just to fill slots.

I thought I would chime in, as I think we may finally be getting enough sports gamers on the boards to maybe have some good leagues. But I'd sure like them to have more Goodjer flavor than the riff-raff I can find anytime over at Operation Sports.

That's just my 2 cents.

So let me understand this JAYHawker you are ok that it takes a guy dam near a week to play his game against the computer. Or dosnt say nothing dont try to get intouch with his human opponet and leave the league in limbo and then gets piss when the league decide to let the week play out. Yes we all have been in league that get carry away and seem to move to fast and take the fun out of playing games. But as a madden player you should want to meet the challenge that is why you compete. I dont have problem with the way the league is set up but lets face facts playing the cpu shouldnt take 3-4 days to do. Now a 24 to 48 hour window to play a human opponet shouldnt be a problem. At this rate it will take dam near 4 months to play a season none less the playoffs. That makes you think that with that long period guys dropping out which hurts the league. I just think something need to either be suggest or atleast brought up to see if things can be better for madden 12. Ideals dosnt hurt sometime they help and if it can help the league remain competitve then isnt that what we all want. Thanks ALC

First Hi JayHawker welcome to the Madden Forum

Second I agree 100% I don't want the league to be like the cram leagues simply because it is not a community like You have have said . I have been in those leagues and though you face a challenge for me personally I found it yet challenging there wasn't any since of rivalry's or community...just a bunch of people tearing each other down saying either how awful the other player was and just unfriendl smack talking and I won't have that.

Third I have no plans on changing the rotation time. I have been in those leagues and though you face a challenge for me personally I can't commit to getting my game in every other day with my third shift schedule. So that isn't planning on switching to less than a 4 day sim rotation.

As for communication yes it has slacked and that is due to me as well. Simply put we all have lives other than Madden...It is the Summer so a lot of us are vacationing...some of us are working a lot more and others haven't changed their previous schedule but no matter what things have changed... I will be Making a permanent Forum instead of a new weekly forum starting this upcoming week. It will have the remaining Games as well as the Standings. Playoffs are coming up and those usually fly by. Once the Playoffs are over we should be within the week of the release of Madden 12. Timing is everything so expect there to be more communication through out the next month or so.

Thanks
Commish

League rolls tomorrow at 7 am est

Spy Still needs to play so if he plays before I go to work tonight I will sim otherwise Just get it done before tomorrow morning and I will sim it then

Cool. I'll boot it up when I get home and see where we stand.

I'll get it done after the baby goes to bed.

off to work we will roll in the morn

Game played.

I will say this...I like playing madden...but when you factor in working full time, keeping up with my extracurricular schedule, taking classes for re-certification, taking care of errands, sharing the TV and Xbox, and supporting a household it gets heavy real quick. Just seems like there isnt enough time in the day. I can get a 4 day sim cycle if its against CPU...but trying to match up two people who have equally crazy schedules...then add in time zone differences and or holidays...its just short of a miracle that we get 16 human games played in a week. As much as I hate to, if the sim period gets any shorter, I will have to drop. I enjoy the "challenge" but I recognize Madden is just a videogame and my real life will always take precedence over that. As Jay said...thats part of the appeal of this league. I dont mind it taking a week to play a week. Also...I agree with Indiana that teams should be left when they are chosen. I like seeing my team evolve along the way...If you want to switch inbetween seasons, thats cool...but it should be done before the draft and anyone who starts with a team should get to keep it if they choose.

That all said, Yeah Indiana is doing a good job and yes, it blows that my running game is wracked with injuries. I just JUST got Mcclain back and then BAM Frisch hits a 60+ yrd td run and the very next series, breaks his elbow and thats it for the season. gay. I did draft a replacement HB from FA and dropped one of my 5 SS....still...rather have Frisch.

I am also good with a 4 day rotation. Has worked so far. My issue has been when it drags to 6-10 days

I'm fine with the current set up. Although I have a feeling my xbox is going to die soon, pretty sure it is the Hard Drive and since I'm saving up to go traveling to the States in September, if it does die, I might not be able to replace it.

Look to all the trailblazers of the league i never said that i had problem with the league if you read all my post comments i say i had no problem with the league. It just seem that you would want to try to play atleast 2 games a week. But i have no problem with this league and i do miss the chance to play in it as i now sit on the sidelines. But it seem to have spark conversation when i suggest certain things but that ok isnt that what forum are all about.
Look guys the league is fine and if ya dont have a problem with it neither do i. But during this summer season you always have thoughts and ideals that you want to express. Just like coach herm edwards said and it makes sense before you hit the send button be sure that is what you want to say. So if the ideal of team draft lottery or any orther that i brought forth offend you then i aplogize. But i do have one question i came in as the titans with madden 12 will i have the chance to pick another team or will i have to be stuck with the titans again. Can the commish or any orther member set the record straight and thanks ALC

ALC,
I don't think anyone is offended. I think most folks are just expressing their opinion. All of what you have said is valid. However, I think the limiting factor for most folks though is time available and trying to match schedules. Like you I would like to play more games because I love football, but I don't know if I could realistically play 3-4 games a week. Track history shows we don't always get the best comms in scheduling with one game, I can't imagine three.

Managed to play my game without my 360 blowing up. Yeah. Negitives are that both my good rookies are out, no Williams RE smashing up the Ravens next week and no Jones TE to throw to when Miller isn't open.

for shame...looks like I am without my star RB and my primary kick returner....and you are out two as well....should be a good matchup. Looking forward to it.

If you want to choose a different team you can...like zell had said you can always change teams at the end of the year as long as its before the draft. Just let me know...
