X3: Terran Conflict

To be a trader instead of a producer, you need a good TS equipped with jumpdrive and about a 1000 energy cells. Also, it helps to max out trading software, and it really helps to have a network of advanced satellites, one for each sector you want to trade in. Doesn't really matter where, though I tend to place them as close as 0,0,0 as I can. Then using the buys and selling software, find a deal, jump to sector, go to station, make deal, and every once in a while, stock up on energy cells to keep going. To me, however, its easier to let the trader mk 3 operate than to do it myself.

cap a super freighter xl, buy TC MK3, trade....repeat....billionaire

Though I feel obliged to point out that speed is more useful than cargo capacity to a MK3 trader.

true. i actually find that dolphins are the quickest capped, so i go for the largest of those, but if a diff one crosses my path and wants to fly the realm in his suit ill take it. i dont know the exact specs on whats the best to cap for MK3, but whatever i get will do

Yep, my Mistral TSs make way more money than any of my other UTs.

Accoridng to the Stats compendium, the mistral sports a max 130 m/s speed, 10.6 m/s^2 max accel, and a 4000 cargo capacity, with only the demeter prototype even close, at 130, 5.8, and 3900. The speed matters when getting from the gate to the station, and leaving, while accel is how fast it gets to max (I know most people know this, just formulating my thoughts). In the end, though, speed is a big factor, but not the only factor. In truth, I don't know the breakdown of weighing cargo cap vs speed as a function of time, as far as money making goes, but there you are. Cap a mistral or a demeter prototype.

So far I got my humble merchant to about 0.5mil. I got about half of it from scavenging after a major attack of the Kaahk on Ore belt. The brought a destroyer (M2) which exterminated all the opposition. I was flying my little discoverer running at about 345m/s avoiding the battles while scavenging all sorts of missiles. It took the mining corporation a while to kill it. The eventually brought a Cerberus (M7 ) and somehow managed to kill the Kaahk destroyer .

I think the Kaahk destroyed about 2 mines . There are many people who want to build all sort of stuff in that sector but I'm in such an early stage. I'm mainly doing some asteroid scanning and sending my mercury to do all sort of trades Maybe I should start looking into the "used car" market .That's another way to make some quick cash especially if i can find a banged up m4/m3. repairing a TS/TP can sometimes take too long. At some point I may get an TM and jump drive to do some ship recovery or something like that .

Too many options but I need more cash.....

Never underestimate the Kha'ak. <.< >.>

So I cashed in some tickets to get the X3 DLC, and I wouldn't be surprised if a future scavenger hunt requirement comes from this game.

That's all I got.

I've suspected as much based on the new achievements in the 3.1.1 patch. (One for destroying 20 ships with PBG's (AKA, "those ****ing space flamethrowers), and another for destroying a solar power plant.)

Cool.

Redeemed my ticket yesterday. Need to dust off the old save? Or start a fresh game and just check out the new sector?

How is the DLC? Pretty much just another system, or is there more to it than that?

NOW!!!!

Any thoughts on today's ticket?

As someone who loves mods too much to bother with vanilla, only option is starting a new game or importing a save, and disabling all my mods.

Not sure it's worth the hassle.

Has anyone played with the ticket reward mission? Is it worth the tickets or should i get TF2 sunglasses?

As far as I can tell, the ticket mission

Spoiler:

just gives you a Solar Power Plant for free when you enter the new sector.

Seems like it would be really great on a new game. Maybe good on my old game too. Hadn't really checked out the sector too much to see what else is around, if anything.

I do think it's a sector with only one gate, so that might be a nice place to hole up with a complex out of the way.

Not sure who's space is it in either, dunno if you can put illegal goods there or what.

I basically just jumped over there and finished the mission then quit. Too many other games in the pile right now for me to dig in.

The link to the PDF map in the main post seems to be dead. Anyone have a current link (or the file to repost somewhere)?

Aw man the russian site is down? That thing was awesome, had a searchable database of ships and resources and stations. So useful.

Thankfully someone made one hell of a spreadsheet that has most of that stuff all in one place, including a map with shipyards, EQ, bases, and even derelict ships marked.

This should probably be linked in the OP, it's damn useful.

No, it's fine.

For printable maps, I like Roguey's for its clean design, though the way it shows the Terran sectors is a bit disorienting. There's a different option in PNG format here.

(Speaking of Roguey, if anyone is still playing Reunion, I liked his mod for that game. It's sort of a "vanilla plus" thing that adds more ships, sectors, and missions, without changing the game balance too drastically.)

Tagged for when I set my computer up tomorrow and finally launch into space...

ninja edit cause this one was awesome as well.

Is it possible to play this as a lone wolf, without building a fleet and bases, and just go out exploring and fighting pirates and hauling goods? Not finishing the story but ignoring it and just being a ship captain?

Totally. In fact the only reason I think people follow the plot is for the rewards.

I completely ignored the story and put in over 100 hours into the game.

I feel like I could return to space.

I feel like I could go to war again.

Alright, because I don't want to have to worry about building fleets and bases and whatnot. I think I'm enabled.

u dont feel the need to build a fleet now, but my oh my, u will soon

May have been posted here before but bares repeating. The X-Tended mod looks pretty cool.

I really miss Elite. A lot. I want an open universe I can just go do sh*t in.
