Saints Row The Third Catch-All

Loved, loved, loved 2. Looking forward to the facelift, 2's graphics really doesn't hold up.

I was kind of thrown by the freaking ALIENS-style dropships hovering around at the end. I wonder if that's a continuation from the Red Faction crap they've thrown in over the years or if they're just saying, "yeah, it takes place in the near future, deal with it." And then sunglasses descend.

Does that mean anything for the kinds of vehicles you'll see driving around, or the kind of weapons you'll find? Or is it tightly restricted like it was in Saint's Row 2, where there's one company with a couple prototypes they've built and everyone else is still using contemporary tech?

I always viewed Saints Row and Red Faction as inhabiting the same universe, with Saints Row chronicling Ultor's rise to power. You could throw the State of Emergency games in between those, as well, as they're near-future and also feature Ultor as the evil omnipresent corporate overlord.

They've pretty much confirmed that Saint's Row and Red Faction take place in the same timeline. There's a mountain on Mars called Mount Vogel (same last name as the Ultor head in SR2) and Ultor creates the first generation of Red Faction vehicles, which are worked into the storyline. Not sure about State of Emergency or just how much you can read into it but what first looked to be a simple easter egg has been cultivated into something more. That said, the two games are so distant in terms of time, theme and space (literally), I can't imagine anything in Saint's Row dramatically changing Red Faction.

It's also really hard to imagine anyone running around Mars with a giant Gat head and a dildo sword. (Prove me wrong, THQ! Prove me wrong!)

That would be so much better than what they did with Red Faction Armageddon.

Is there anything a dildo sword can't make better?

Dildo gun fight?

You're right, it's like grandma always said, never bring a dildo sword to a dildo gunfight.

I saw a developer interview where the guy (you know, that guy there) said you can pick whatever you like as your skin tone. Dark, light, brown, peach, green, silver, whatever.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm currently re-re-replaying Saints Row 2 because it's so damn awesome.

I've probably watched the CG trailer over twenty times now. It's too good. November cannot come faster.

Here's a pre-E3 preview that I found. Last night I saw the same guy doing a gameplay demo on G4, but I can't find it online.

Lean over this chair here.

It'll be educational.

Found a gameplay video from yesterday. Lots of DDTs and groin shots.

Here is a deeply absurd seven minute preview. VTOL jetplanes, people-cannons, beating bystanders to death with dildos and 'Apoca-Fists' and, of course, dancing and costumes.

I never 'got' either of the first two games, I think I didn't really give them a chance. But seriously, this looks deeply fun.

*Giggles like a child*

Oh, so THAT's where all the fun from GTA4 ended up...I was wondering

Yep, it was a day one buy before and now it is even more so somehow. So awesome.

I'll want to see how their in-house PC port is running before I put money down on it, that said, I don't think the external PC ports for RFG/SR2 would be at all representative of how SR3 will run.

Can I say it again? Really? Thanks.

I am very excited for this game.

I want that more than I want ME3 or Skyrim.

I can't wait to see the achievements related to firing people out of a giant cannon.

That demo was awesome!

That demo was amazing! I actually laughed out loud a couple times. Man, I've never played a Saints Row before but that just looks like too much fun. Hopefully the PC version is a good port.

I thought the dropkick followed by Max Relax pose on the pavement was a highpoint.

The VTOL jet was pretty cool. And I like how they just give you a tank for mayhem now.

It's videos like the one above that make this an easy day 1 purchase for me, and I buy very few games when they first come out.

I do hope their multiplayer works out better in this one. I loved playing the second one with a friend, but it broke frequently.

I saw that demo reel during GameSpot's E3 coverage and it insta-sold me on a Day One purchase.

The sound the cannon makes when shooting people out is classic.

November is just crazy for the amount of releases that I want to get.

Lookin crazy good

Will they have a real PC version or just a poor port like before.

CD Projekt was responsible for the Saints Row 2 port. Violition have said outright that they will be creating it themselves.
