Time Flies When You're Playing in the Pile

Pages

In honor of the 4 year anniversary of doing these threads (see the Google doc, June 2007 was the first recorded), I suggest we should all play a game from 2007 that's in our pile.

If you're interested, m0nk3yboy, has the 12 month pile plan thread over here.

A quick reminder, in order to be considered "Pile of Shame" the game needs to be at least three months old. Otherwise, it's just a new game you haven't gotten to playing yet.

Also, if you are curious about some of the previous threads, Pick's of the Pile, etc... Please go here and check out the Google doc I setup.

Let's get on to the games!

This month's Pick of the Pile is

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

"In 1945 in New Mexico, a blast from a nuclear experiment in Manhattan Project reveals a strange crystalline structure, from which a winged creature flies out. In Calcutta 1996, Lara Croft is approached by Larson Conway, who introduces her to Jacqueline Natla, who wishes for Lara to find a piece of an artifact called the Scion, located in the Peruvian mountains. Lara, having searched unsuccessfully for such an artifact with her father in the past, agrees to go." (wikipedia.org)

I've got Episode 1 on there, but I'm going to find something from 2007 to through on as well.

Put me down for Darksiders yet again. I only have a little bit to go. If it doesn't happen this month, it won't happen. But it will happen.

For the 2007 anniversary, put me down for Half-Life 2. I played a chunk of it a while ago, and (heresy!) I decided I'd rather play something else.

I'm also going to work on Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare. It might not seem like it works with the 2007 theme, but I've heard rumors that the original concept of Red Dead Revolver involved zombies in the Old West, and that came out in 2004, so I'm all set! Right? Right!

Didn't see the 2007 thing. Put me down for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the only unfinished SP game from 2007 I could find on my shelf. My thumbs will be hating you soon enough.

I did notice that Modern Warfare 1 (360) is from 2007. Anyone up for taking a trip down MP memory lane with me?

I can't decide if I want to do The Darkness or Bioshock 2.

Anyone else want to boost The Darkness? I would need someone to play 500 matches with me for all the multiplayer achievements (250 wins for me and 250 wins for you:)).

No, but I will play some BioShock 2 MP with you, just because it's pretty good.

The Darkness - that is from 2007!

Anyone want to help a brother out with some achievements and boost The Darkness? I would need someone to play 500 matches with me for all the multiplayer achievements (250 wins for me and 250 wins for you:)).

I'm only partway through Deus Ex so it has to come over. Should finish it this month though.

Someone have a list of what came out in 2007 somewhere?

ETA: Ah, here we go.

OK, looks like the original Assassin's Creed came out in '07. It's on my pile so I'll add it as my anniversary game.

Obviously I need to carry over Infinite Space (DS) - I think I'm at least 80% done.

My 2007 pick is Bioshock (PC/multi)

If I beat Kirby's Adventure (NES), my beaten percentage for that platform will finally top 50%.

I'll surely add at least one more during the month, but I don't know what yet. Perhaps Elite Beat Agents (DS), maybe Syberia (PC), World in Conflict (PC, 2007), The Wheel of Time (PC), or something completely different.

I think I have a grand total of 3 games that released in 2007 that I have yet to beat. SSX Blur, Titan Quest Immortal Throne (expansion) and Picross DS. None of which I'm in any hurry to beat. Oh wait, I stand corrected. Odin Sphere. But I can't muster the determination to go after that one.

Instead, I'll be working on Gotcha Force (pile worthy in 2007 by a long shot -2003 release so 2x the age). More games to be declared soon.

I'll keep plugging away at Fable III. Hopefully all that money I won in Fable Coin Golf will help me get the millions of gold I need.

As to 2007 games, I... Uh... I don't have any. I may need to buy one just to participate. Maybe Bioshock, since I've been wanting to finish that one, but I might be doing this "clear the pile" thing wrong.

Homefront campaign

Ha! It qualifies now!

On the list, HA!

Edit - Ep.2 came out in 2007. Sweet, knock both of these bad boys out this month.

I was planning on finally getting through the latter two Crystal D Tomb Raider Games so this fits nicely with Tomb Raider : Anniversary Edition (2007 I believe). And then Underworld as well.

Quintin_"I don't get the whole 2007 concept"_Stone

Oh, like I read the OP of these threads?

It's academic anyway, I just finished it.

I just beat Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (from GameFly) a few days ago. If I had waited a few days, it would have counted. I don't have anything else from 2007 on my list.

Anyway, put me down for Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time for this month.

I'm also starting Baldur's Gate again, but considering the length, that's not going down for a while probably.

Put me down for Enslaved on the 360 again. Got about halfway through it last month then stalled out with Terraria.

Well, I'm done getting married/relaxing in Costa Rica, and have no plans for major life-altering events this month, so I think I can carry over and even finish (!) Baldur's Gate. Assuming that happens, I'll keep plugging away at Far Cry 2.

Sorry about not doing the 2007 thing correctly, but a 1998 title balances it out. Right, guys? Right?

I'm in a bit of a gaming funk right now, however my wife and I should be able to finish Lego: Indiana Jones 2. We're halfway through already.

Registration is open!

And the server is already struggling under the flood.

I’d consider it a personal favor if you just create a new account now and wait to start adding games until things have calmed down. XD

I'm probably 2/3 of the way through Chrono Trigger (DS) right now so I'll put that on the list. I don't know if I even own a game released in 2007 but I'll go dig through the pile and see.

Put me down for The Witcher. That was 2007 and it's on my pile.

Let's do Burnout Paradise for 360. I've beat the ps3 version before, and already have my B license again, so... Yeah.

Let's also add the vanilla Borderlands campaign as well.

Please put me down for:

Dragon Age 2
Shogun 2 Short Campaign

Those games came out in early March, so I can claim them now right?

OK...

I was going to put down Fable 3, and Mini Ninjas, but the 2007 thing has me intrigued...

*goes off and reads from tanstaafl's link*

OK, looks like I've nine titles to choose from in my 360 pile;
Crackdown, Shivering Isles, TombRaider:Anniversary, Overlord, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, PGR 4, Orange Box and Naruto: Rise of a Ninja.

There's only three I haven't started, so working on the other 6 will definitely help my completion % (I'd like to get up to 60% by the end of the year). Shivering Isles, I'm a little over, Blue Dragon will take too long.

I might throw it open to the group for suggestions. Crackdown, PGR4, TR:Anniversary, or The Half Life bits of Orange Box I have yet to finish?

The Witcher - Quintin_"I get it now"_Stone

Smartass.

Crackdown was a lot of silly open world fun in its day. Half-Life is one of the greats.

I was thinking one of those two myself, just for the variety of the gameplay.

If you're talking about achievement completion percentage, Half-Life is not the way to go. The Orange Box is a completion percentage ruiner.

In keeping with the anniversary theme - and since I never did finish it - I will be adding Clive Barker's Jericho to my pile picks this month. Leaving behind some of the titles I have been dragging for a couple of months now so as to focus on only one or two titles, I will also add Mother 3 as there's only 3 chapters of it to go.

Hooray for the Pile (thread)!

Okay, I give up on Darksiders. I turned it on today, and I was in the middle of the portal-shooting part. I remember shooting a ton of portals already, but I guess I have a lot to go. But now I don't remember what I'm supposed to be working toward, specifically, the environment is no help, and I can't even tell from looking at guides. The game's not worth putting in the time to get past this part. Put a mark of shame next to my name for it for the month, whatever, I'm out.
