NCAA 11 GWJBCS (Xbox 360): Year 3 Championship Week, Bowl Season and Off-Season

Buoyed by a 28 point 2nd quarter, Notre Dame wins the National Championship by a score of 56-35. The game was very tight through the 1st quarter, which ended with the game tied 7-7. In the opening seconds of the 2nd quarter, Northwestern intercepted the ball and ran it back for a beautiful TD. At that point ND's Dayne Crist (QB) got angry and went on a pass-happy drive that culminated with a 1 yard TD pass. From there the ND defense stepped up and most of the breaks went ND's way.

Crist finished 28-36 for 431 yards with 6 TDs and 2 INTs. ND was without its star HB, but managed 101 yards on 19 carries, though a disproportionate amount came late in the 3rd and in the 4th quarters. Because ND's running game wasn't necessarily "on" early in the game with Cierre Wood out, they went with the hot hand in the QB Crist. Northwestern's vaunted secondary kept TE Alex Welch to only 1 catch, but Crist spread the ball around to 7 receivers and got good production from his running backs in the passing games as well as WRs.

The defense looked shaky early on, allowing Northwestern to cut through them like butter. But, they stiffened in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, in particular, holding Northwestern to 14 points during that crucial stretch in which ND scored 35. ND put pressure on the Northwestern QB through much of the game, even though they ended with only 1 sack and 6 tackles for loss. They were helped by 2 INTs. ND's P/K Ben Turk was crucial throughout, booming several kickoffs out of the endzone and kicking one punt that went 59 yards and missed going out at the 1 yard line by about a foot.

Great game, Shonuff...thanks for playing so late!

Oh, and for whatever reason, the connection worked flawlessly on the first try!

Thank you, Touchdown Jesus!

TD Jeebus to the rescue.

Congrats firesloth. One more game to go and then we can move on to the offseason.

Hoppa, tonight at 7pm PST works great. See you then.

Leroy and I both hate you both.

J/K, congrats on bringing Notre Dame back to glory!

Oh, you mean for the connection...I thought that was just on general principals.

J/K, congrats on bringing Notre Dame back to glory!

Thanks! As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm pretty happy about it...been playing football with Goodjers since 2004, and this is the first I've done particularly well.

It must have made you feel super awesome to see me win it in my first year

Yeah, but you didn't go undefeated. You lost a regular season game, where as Firesloth did not. I'd ask you who put that blemish on your record, but it's the same d-bag who's ass you kicked in the National Championship

I keep forgetting about that loss. It hurt too much.

Kush, your post made me realize I had forgotten something. I should have thanked all the little people who made it possible...like Leroy and his Tigers.

LOL!! I'm suffering huge losses in talent this year on both sides of the ball. Might have a pretty young team next year.

Me, too, actually. I'm losing my high-90s rated QB and a similarly-rated MLB. I think having such a strong QB was key this season. We'll see what happens next season when my QB is once again good, but not great.

Actually, that'll be an exciting challenge...Here's to the offseason!

I'm losing my QB, top two half-backs, top two WRs, top two DEs, top corner....../sigh

Don't give me this sob story. You will still play top notch opponents this year as usual.

I think I need some Sun Belt opponents! Maybe a couple of the FCS teams.....

Well, you did play in the SEC. What more could you ask? Bunch of patsie schools in there. I mean, Kentucky? Really?

Interesting that in the lead-up to the bowl games, there are two MAC teams in the top 25 BCS rankings, CMU and WMU.

Kentucky....Auburn...Alabama....what a bunch of scrubs.

DS, having to set up another console in the office. since some family dropped in out of nowhere. Applying updates and recovering gamertag right now. Be on ASAP. No headset either

Ok, in and ready when you are.

Except you have like 20 five star recruits on the bench. Pipe down with the crying...

Ok, Hung out for a while, did not see you come on. getting a bit late for me to start a game.

we can try again tomorrow or I can drop so you can play CPU.

Today should work fine. I had major family drama yesterday. Sorry I didn't get back until today. I'll be around today after work.

OK, see you at 9.

I'll be on in roughly 30 minutes. Heading home from work (I work about 10 minutes from work) and I'll need to settle in before I play. See you soon, Hoppa.

We are now at the players leaving stage. If anybody wants to try and keep someone leaving that is not graduating. Go ahead and try. When everyone is ready we will move on. I am keeping it at three days unless everyone wants to move forward.

I will also drop Jayhawker (Kansas) and Coolbeans (Georgia) from the league and we will roll with 10. 3 human games for Season 4 and if anyone has concerns, please let me know.
