Firefly to DVD?

Section:

AICN reports that the now defunct Firefly will most likely be released on DVD with the last couple un-aired episodes included. Not only that, it will probably have the episodes *gasp* in the right order!

No release date yet, but Fox Home Entertainment will be releasing. It sports the entire season, including the unaired eps, in 16:9 glory and, most likely, in the "correct" order. With lots of goodies.

That's not official confirmation or anything but it seems pretty likely. Who knows, maybe DVD sales will be high enough to encourage another network to pick it up..

Could a been a great series, if only they'd given it time to develop or catch on. It was one of the few things I've seen on TV that had dialog that would consistently make me laugh out loud.

I'm always shocked and dismayed at how much these seasonal compilations of TV shows are. I bet this is like 40bucks or so. Soprano's was like 75 dollars. Madness.

Hell if I figured enough DVD sales would get this show back on the air I would by 10 of them myself. Unfortunatly that will probably not be the case so I will just have to be happy with planning the demise of FOX! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU SOOO MUCH!

Stay far, far away from the Star Trek and X-Files season compilations then. You want to talk about madness...

I don't see anything unreasonable about the prices of series compilations on DVD. A full season of an hour long show like this is 22 episodes * 45 minutes a pop. Your looking at 16.5 hours of entertainment. Factor in any extra's they include and its a perfectly reasonable price considering a 2 hour movie goes for $20.

I'm willing to bet that they'll charge a hefty price for all six Star Wars movies (and I'll be that'll be the only way to buy the "Classic" trilogy).  Bastards.

You're not trying to curtail our whining consumerism, are you, Sinatar?  Eh? <brandishes a knife>

A two hour movie goes for $20, including all the packaging and extras, of which you get about the same amount of in a compilation. It costs them about 40cents to press and package any addition DVD in the box which would suggest that you should be paying about $2 more for each DVD in a set but instead you are paying closer to $10 and often times much more depending on how popular a series is and how much they think they can gauge you. These days for the series I really like such as 24 I just suck the episodes off my replay and push them to DVD myself it's not hard with the tools out there to be pretty automated but it is slightly more work then just buying them. If they cost less I certainly would buy more sets of things but as it is I find them to be a rip-off.

I am going to have to disagree. It really depends on what compilations you are talking about. For example up here in Canada you can pay between 24-32 bucks before taxes when buying a DVD movie. I bought the last two seasons of Buffy for around 54 and 60 dollars. Which averages out to around 10 bucks a DVD in the set and I got way more actual show (which is what I am intersted in) plus bonus features!
