If you could have one unreleased PC game RIGHT NOW, what would it be?

SC2: Heart of the Swarm please!

Diablo 3 in close second, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution in third.

I'm glad I'm not the only Blizzard fanboy around here

Does "A good graphical battletech MMO" count?

Heh. That one does need to bake a while longer. Eve and WoW took years to get good, though.

I'll say Deus Ex because not only do I adore post-human settings but it's also near enough to an actual release that I won't have to dig through this thread years from now and cry.

It's not like they get a pass from me or anything. My hate for what they did to the Warcraft series with War3 and WoW knows no bounds. We're talking like, burning with the fire of a thousand suns stuff here. I loved Warcraft 2. Then they went and ruined it.

They stayed true with Starcraft 2 though, so I'm hoping Diablo 3 turns out ok.

Also: Honorable mention for Battlefield 3, which I expect will absorb at least a couple hundred hours of multiplayer time from me.

Easy Peasy...Skyrim. The titles in Bethesda's flagship sometimes don't hold up well, but I've never been anything less than blown away when playing them as new releases.

Another vote for Fallout 3. I had some trepidation about it coming from Bethesda (my only experience with the time was the too-buggy-to-play Daggerfall), but now that Oblivion is here, my fears are gone. Certainly I hope that they nail the atmosphere and dark humor of the series, but I now have a goodly amount of faith.

The funny thing is, I've put maybe 10 hours into Fallout 3. Should have gone 360 for couch comfort, not PC for the mods I don't use.

Yes, I said Duke Nukem Forever. It will come out and it will be great. OKAY!?

No, its not OK. None of us are destined to play DNF in our lifetimes. Now your great grandson Mr. Viridian will get to play it and will give it a review of "Meh, its the kinda of game my great pappy would have loved, but it doesn't have enough unicorns for my taste."

This particular exchange made me smile.

Edit: On topic, Thief 4 please!

I'm still waiting for Dungeon Keeper 3.

It's amazing how many of those old games are still not out. I'm looking at you, Blizzard and Valve...

Skyrim.

Oh, I just thought of something. If I can wish for a game that's not actually being made, I'd sure like a sequel to Dreamfall. Terrible game, but an amazing story that was left half-finished.

Ooh.. the original thread pre-dates me. Today, I'd say: SW:TOR, Crusader Kings 2 and L.A. Noire 2, whenever it's out

Edit: And, like Coldstream says above, a new Wing Commander or Tie Fighter game.

EverQuest III.

While The Old Republic looks neat so far, I would love to see SOE head back to the old days of Norrath, maybe show us the enslavement of the Iksar and the rule of the Shissar. I have been a big fan of the lore of EQ ever since the first game. Also EQII is my current favorite MMO, so I trust they will continue that trend. Hope I'm not wrong.

Having just finished The Longest Journey and Dreamfall this week, I'd second that. I kind of wonder though if Dreamfall would be any good without The Longest Journey. It seemed to mostly expand on some of those ideas and play fan service. There are some very interesting ideas that have great potential, but the whole game was basically waiting for stuff to happen (except for the one side story no one really cared much about).

Best necro ever!

I'll have one Mass Effect 3, please.

Skyrim and Diablo 3.

And, one day in a beautiful future, another Wing Commander game.

Edit: I woke up early this morning and realised that out of all the future games, From Dust is the most exciting and the most scary (please don't suck, please don't suck!).

I'm wondering how long Funcom are going to chase the MMO dream before they allocate resources to singleplayer games.

Guild Wars 2. I'm ready to give up exclamation and question marks!

Those are good observations. It's been a few years since I played it, so my memory is a bit hazy, but I strongly agree with you about nothing much actually HAPPENING in Dreamfall, just a ton of setup. That's part of why I was so angry about the game after buying it. Between the lousy gameplay and the half-written story, I felt that I'd been cheated out of a good chunk of cash. (I was pissed off enough that Certis made some snide comment about nerdrage.) It was particularly galling when the original had delivered such incredible value.

Whether or not it could stand on its own, I'm not sure.

The MMO project has got to rank up there in the all-time Bad Ideas category. How much more of a blatant cash-grab could you imagine?

Gabriel Knight 4.

Nobody said it had to be a game that's actually in production, right? I use 'unannounced' as my escape clause.

Interesting perspectives in this thread. Today, I think the game I'd most like to have right now would be ME3.

I wish both SC2 expansions were out so we could put all the talk of changing the game behind us. It sucks that the game won't be allowed to truly stabilize for years to come.

That's the one for me. Enough with the teasers and race weeks, I just want to play already!

Blizzard and Valve are two companies I wish would release their games (Episode3, D3 + expansions, SC2 expansions), draw a line under them and move onto new projects. I can understand the safety of established brands, IP, etc, but if they're as good as their reputation says, then I want that talent on new ideas.

Agreed, good sirs.

Shogo M.A.D. 2, No One Lives Forever 3, and pretty much anything else from Monolith that isn't F.E.A.R. I don't hate FEAR, I just think their other work was better.

Also: Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Alan Wake, and all the other games which would be perfectly fine or even better on PC, many of which were originally slated for the PC.

Games that will never happen, but would be nice (and have reasons for existing),

Physchonauts 2
Jade Empire 2
MDK3
Some New Giants / Armed & Dangerous guys game.
The Undreaming: The Longest Journey (my title, I think "Dreamfall Chapters" is a terrible idea.)

Games that are being made, but are probably terrible, but I would like to play anyway,

Tomb Raider
Fallout:New Vegas (GOTY)
Fallout 4: The Fallpocalypsingificationer

Games that will probably be good,

Mass Effect 3
Bioshock Infinite

EDIT: And a totally unrealistic one,
A Hellboy point & click adventure game. I don't think the style would work in a 3d setting. Definitely not in a TellTale crappy 3d setting.

I don't think that counts since it's probably not in development. I would really like to see that game though, but I'm not sure the Monolith of today would make it into what I want.

I want this one too. I spent several months getting my Hall of Monuments in GW1 to 30 pts. Now I want to play with the loot I unlocked.

Definitely Diablo III. Seems like I've been waiting forever!!! The next Blizzard MMO would come a close second.

Diablo 3, Deus Ex:HR, Rage, and a new Ultima CRPG
