I am leaving my server up and running right now if anyone wants to hop on.

Connect to 74.140.167.201 to join up.

That's awesome!

I wish I'd known sooner that npcs just needed their own room and not a completely separate house.

I heart the grappling hook.

I just realized that you can move downward through platforms.

I feel really stupid -_-

Tamren and I were on and right before he left there was a goblin invasion. We headed west to find them and they killed Tamren, then he left. I went back to the spawn and a goblin army was there including magic users. Unlike zombies they can actually open doors. The magic users actually teleport around so you could not run away. Also I climbed up to the 3 rd level path near the stairs above spawn and some goblin army guys were there including magic users also. I jumped out since I was toast the whole time, not sure if they can damage buildings.

Well, I spent some time trying to install Terraria in a virtual machine so I could put up a little semi-dedicated server, but the dumb game requires hardware accelerated video to even launch. Le sigh.

malor, just play on Erik's server for now

Man the spawn area needs some defenses

How do my torches stay lit underwater? HOW??

Step 1, build platforms in the immense shafts that have been created

That does not stop the goblins.

I'm looking to buy a four pack, anyone want in on 2 of the spots? Done.

Managed to fight off a gobbo invasion all by myself! I looked it up after the fact and apparently I killed over 150 of them. I ran out of ammo in seconds and I couldn't use my sword because of the lag. They kept teleporting onto me and getting a free hit. Luckily I had a boomerang, so I just smashed them down until they stopped appearing.

I scored 3 pairs of rocket boots

Anyone want to trade?

Erik, is that a lightsaber™ in your inventory?

Yeah pretty much. They call it a phaseblade, but we know what it really is. It even makes the lightsaber sound when you swing it.

It's probably a callback to Diablo II where the elite version of a Crystal Sword was called Phase Blade and the unique Phase Blade had the name Lightsabre

So my younger brother (who was going by Reed by the looks of it) was messing around on the PC, started playing Terraria, and joined Erik's server I hope he didn't cause too much damage.

If been kicking around in single player and am having a good time, I'll try to get in some multiplayer here soon.

Also, I've been using this. It's a Terraria Trainer/Resolution Launcher that lets you edit a few variables too make the game easier, or more difficult depending on what you want. I really like the mini-map as it's super useful. Some of the variables only work on single player though so, ymmv. Anyway it's worth downloading for the resolution edit alone I think.

May I have an invite to the steam group, please? My steam profile is in my sig. Thanks.

I was wondering who Reed was.

And thanks for the trainer/launcher. I'll be all over that.

It's only a cartoon.

Actually i played a lot with him yesterday, we were exploring this super deep complex and he was pretty cool so no issues here.

I played with him awhile with no issues. The two of us sent a goblin invasion packing. I had just assumed he was a goodjer using his real name.

Could I get an invite to the group too pretty please?

So I just picked this up yesterday and I am tagging this thread to read later.

There was an update today, mainly perfomance and bug fixes, but they also added a new type of bomb to craft. It is neat.

My server is back up and patched for those of you who want to hop on.

I made a depth meter and got down to 1700 ft before I ran out of wood for torches (I had like 600 gel though )

I finally got into the groove of the game this weekend, and made myself a little stone bunker not too far from what appears to be a pretty extensive cave system. So far I'm liking it, though I find it kind of fiddly at times - breaking out backdrops with the hammer in particular. It's not quite as streamlined as Minecraft, and there are a lot more monsters.

I thought that at first, too, but you can craft/find better tools that greatly speed up all the fiddly bits and make it less an issue. Also, once you play on multiplayer you won't complain about there being too many monsters on singleplayer, anymore. Singleplayer will seem like a vacation.

The hammer is definitely a tool you want to upgrade early. I went: pick, sword, hammer, armor. It's just too tedious breaking down those background walls with anything less than the silver tier.

Ha! "Making me appreciate how good I've got it" wasn't really what I was thinking of.

After 6 or so hours of single player play, I finally took a gander at the Wiki.

Oh dear god.

QFT. I've spent 20 hours and just saw my first boss and lava today. I also saw my real boss and he said I'm fired.
