I think just having multiple mics does wonders. That's our biggest problem right now.

It's an odd coincidence that I've decided to go back to Giant Bomb's 2009 Game of the Year deliberation podcast, in which two of their mics go bust. Yup - having a mic each certainly helps. I do imagine that a part of the problem with this scenario was that they weren't evenly sharing the mics that remained perfectly functional. Still, in my case (as with many podcasts), multiple mics/headsets is a necessity - the guy in Melbourne would have to shout pretty damn loud to reach my mic, and the guy just outside of Perth louder still :p

Short of it: buy another couple of mics if you can justify the cost. Having people in the same room is a big benefit in itself as it not only creates a more relaxed atmosphere that can open up nutty banter, but you also don't have to worry about the internet messing with your sound quality and are less likely to talk over each other. Getting a mic each would only enhance that.

As an aside, cheers to anyone else who may have clicked on the link to the previous episode. The last day has seen unprecedented traffic on the page, and it's greatly, greatly appreciated.

The hard part with multiple mics isn't actually acquiring the mics, it's actually getting them to work at the same time. You actually need a soundboard, or some software equivalents. We're still playing with some things right now, hopefully we'll get it working soon.

Ah, for whatever reason I had imagined you all with your own laptops recording separate audio streams to be mashed together in editing. A sound board is likely easier, thuogh :p

Newly discovered pro tip: talk about die2nite. Turns out that, although we're still trying to pinpoint the source, we got over 100 hits yesterday from the website of the German version of the game o_O

Soooo... I Hope You Die has stalled? If you guys had gotten an episode timed to exactly 20 minutes, then it would have been perfect for my exercise bike/make sure my knee doesn't dislocate again activity.

On another note, our webmaster seems to think that it should happen automatically via the iTunes update, but the PixelCast seems to be downloading sans a little graphic for media player / fancier mp3 players than mine to display. Is there an easy way to affix a jpeg?

Aaaand on a pimpage note, we say the word penis rather a lot in episode 34.

Yeh we've been holding some meetings on how to better the show. We're recording an episode tomorrow either way, but hopefully there's going to be some major format changes coming up as well as a more consistent release schedule. We're probably going to try to record some stuff over skype. The co-host lives 3 hours away from me, so meeting up to do episodes in person has proven difficult.

Edit: Also just got to listen to the new ep! Awesome episode, definitely made some great points towards the end on Bioware. Totally agree with you. They definitely seem to take the quantity over quality route. Keep up the great work!

Cheers.

I think we need to try and get Jess on again - she seems to be just the right level of crazy, and is happy to shoot her mouth off with comments that I would get in trouble for.

I've probably asked something similar before, but does anybody know how to ping iTunes to update when a new 'cast is uploaded on the main site? Our tech guy's decided to take a sabbatical away from the internet...

Man, I miss my podcasting days. Did one with Brad Wardell of Stardock and a couple of other Stardock employees, Kristen Hatcher and Derek Batting. Those were such a kick to do!

I have libsyn do it for me, so I don't know exactly. It's definitely something to do with your RSS feed. As long as your RSS feed is working, then iTunes will read it.

Some pretty cool news: My friend and I just got word that we're going to be hosting a panel on podcasting and social media at Killer Nashville, a mystery/thriller writer's conference here in Tennessee. Not only that, but they're going to let us record an episode of our podcast live at the conference. I'm pretty damn stoked.

That's the plan. Nothing like shattering our handful of listeners' expectations of what we look like by broadcasting our depressingly doughy physiques across the internet to boost our downloads!

I've got a podcast on business and marketing that I record while doing laundry every week, creatively titled: The Laundry Time Podcast.

http://laundrytimepodcast.com/

Not yet on iTunes. Going to fix that in a day or two.

Also, I am resurrecting my old GameFinance blog as a podcast. It's going to look at strategy/business/marketing side of the video game industry. Should be fun!

Figure this deserves a bump.

Slightly sad to see that I Hope You Die seems to have dwindled out of existence since February.

And with that formality out of the way, I've not done any pimping in a while. PixelCast 41 is fresh out of Skype and, despite the main topic becoming more of a ramble-a-thon than planed, it's probably the most entertaining one to come about in a while.

IMAGE(http://www.pixelhunt.com.au/home/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/pixelcast-41-graphic.jpg)

I've also started jogging again, so any new additions the the list here would be welcome if you're cool with me getting hot and sweaty while I sample them

I'll listen to it over the weekend for sure! Yeh, the new iHuD is still a ways off. At the moment it will probably be at least 3 months.

The DWP has started a new podcast, Core Elements... our first guest is Brad Muir of Double Fine, the Lead Designer on Trenched. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for posting. I'll be giving this a listen, you guys do good work.

Nice find. It also segues so neatly that I don't feel guilty for my own belated pimping (international relocations take time and remove internets from daily life), by which I refer to a PixelCast Stopgap that is mostly just an interview with Tim Schafer and Nathan Martz about Sesame Street...

I Hope You Die Radio is officially dead, and you can remove it from the list. I'm starting a new show this weekend. Hopefully the first episode will be out Sunday night. I decided not to do a strictly video game show, it's honestly too hard to get listeners that way. A lot of my friends don't even play video games, so I can't get them to listen. It might be a little bold to call the new show a "comedy" podcast, but that's really all we're trying to do with it. Really excited to record, hopefully it comes out well. I'll post as soon as it's ready.

A week from Friday, I will be recording an episode of our podcast on books and reading, The Library Police, at Killer Nashville, a crime and mystery writer's conference. I'm pretty excited.

This thread reminds me: Duoae, you still alive, man?

My new comedy show has arrived! Please give it a listen! http://glhp.libsyn.com/episode-1-dou...

Maybe one day I will link to the few music podcasts I did. The first two were pretty terrible, but once I got the hang of editing it was pretty cool.

I got a lot of feedback on the first episode, and I hopefully addressed most of those issues. I think this one is better overall. We also finally found out groove. I just hope Alex0313 likes it. Since we can't get girls to ever respond to our profile, we decided to dedicate an entire episode each week to a different girl on okCupid, in hopes that she hears it and responds! Let me know what you guys think/if this is a horrible idea.

http://glhp.libsyn.com/season-1-epis...

This week the gang finds their better third on okCupid, the beautiful and wonderful Alex0313. She just might be the one, and the gang tries to improve their matches with her using advanced okCupid technology, and by answering some questions. Other topics include Fantasy Football and Coyote Ugly.

I don't know if anyone here has checked it out yet, but here's the new episode of my show: "Good Luck, Have Podcast!"

http://glhp.libsyn.com/season-1-epis...

Season 1: Episode 3 "Mind Boobs"

In this episode, Bryan, Chris, and John get together once again to search out love over the Internet. Still recovering from the silent rejection of Alex0313, the gang regroups and attempts to improve their match with the beautiful and Jameson loving Catiemay04. Enjoy! ;))

I don't think anyone checks this thread anymore, but I'm going to keep posting my show here, because I'd feel bad about trying to draw attention to my own thread. Either way, new episode and new member. We have an actual girl as a member of the show now! Which I hope is the trick to winning the internet.

http://glhp.libsyn.com/season-1-epis...

Season 1: Episode 4 "Chippendales Rescue Rangers"

This week, the gang gets a new addition! The lovely and beautiful Yasmine joins the cast to offer feminine insight to the show. With responses from both Catiemay and Alex, the gang has to decide their next move. Not only that, but they also decide to message a new beautiful and awesome girl, heydelinquent, who might have some of the most interesting questions we've seen yet. This is not a week to miss folks. Enjoy!

Hooray! Shameless thread bumping for shameless self-promotion.

As is, I'm only doing it because I earnestly believe this episode is quality entertainment. Pinky swear.

PixelCast 48. Please download it

Felt like this week's cast, in which we touched on the underbelly (or worse) of the internet. We've talked about that before, but this week's used a particular meme (and Gawker article) to anchor a few other conversations. It's not just about the bad stuff, though I'd stay away if language offends, but the here is the link"

Using the spoiler because the link name mentions the horrible thing we discuss, which is NSFW. Still thought it was a pretty good talk and wanted to recommend it.

A podcast? I've got one of those! Self promotion? I love that!

We have no idea what the hell we're doing yet, but I think it's going pretty well so far.
