Penguincon 2011: It was Fedorable

Based on the Mini Con talk, we may need a west side and an east side car pool. Having our fine friends from Western MI coming over to the Detroit area doubles their travel time.

Anyone coming from the Detroit, Windsor, Northern Ontario area may want to hit me up. Toronto Goodjers can cross the bridge into my neck of the woods and we can pool the way down into Ohio. I would suggest that New York Goodjers driving, take that same route. Ontario is a much easier drive.

I've narrowed it down to 3 locations (2 really) and we should have a decision for you today or tomorrow.

I'm also hoping the website will be up this weekend for RSVPs and room reservations but that's dependent on quite a few things.

Soon, though.

We'll be here.

Some quick highlights:

Free shuttle from CLE
Rooms are $82+tax and will come with a coupon for 2 people to get their breakfast buffet
Indoor pool
game room
in-house pizza hut
Fun stuff in the area

We'll have plenty of space for the event as well. It's a good fit.

So get yourself a roommate to share the cost (please no more than 2 to a room if you can help it, we're trying to hit 20 rooms a night for Friday and Saturday) and I'll see you in October =)

OH. And don't make reservations yet, I need to figure out how they'll know you're coming for our event =)

They'll give you a group code to use in that Group Code field on the reservations page.

As of right now, my wife isn't planning on coming, so I might be down for a roommate.

YAY for details!

I got our space from 6pm Thursday until 2pm on Sunday.

THURSDAY?!

Yeah =)

The party won't officially start until Friday afternoon but, if you're in the area or flying in, you will have the opportunity to get there early and set yourself up, help us set up, and there will be a party of some sort that night. I can't promise you penguincon will be in a position to foot the bill for the party, but I'd certainly like to.

So, if you feel like grabbing a room for an extra day, you're more than welcome to come, hang out, and get some more precious, precious game time in.

And the party will be at a fun place, promise.

Sweet! Time to put in for some time off

Well, that's if I can afford a room... us early arrivers need to talk about how we want to split rooms.

Nice, looking like an awesome time.

How sophisticated would you say the security is that will protect our registration info?

I meant to put "It's super effective" at the end.

Dang it.

obirano used Sympathy Post!

It's not very effective...

Fainted was better.

After having this thread idle in my browser for months, I've finally read through it. Tagging for future participation.

Oh, and congrats on the proposal, Crispy! I should read GWJ EE more often.

I heard something about an SC2 tournament I'm going to have to practice for. Honestly, Lady K and I were thinking about coming anyway, especially since she grew up in the greater Cleveland area and most of her family is still there. She worked in Solon for a while, too, although I will confess I've only been there myself once and it was over thirteen years ago.

Right off I-90 is good, though. And only about two hours away is even better. So, okay. We're in, providing nothing major changes in our situation between now and then.

Awesome, glad to have you =)

RSVPs and reservations should be open soon.

My wife has tentatively agreed to us attending.

that is tentatively excellent.

It will tentatively be good to see you again, Stengah

Sorry gang, looks like I'm going to have to bow out for this year. A bit a of a financial storm on the homefront.

You can't cancel! I don't even have registration up yet!

Since I live to make TB feel terrible, we've got some exciting announcements today.

Announcement the first: We shall be having a metagame running throughout the length of the tournament. Competition? You bet. Prizes? Possibly! Street fights? We can only hope. We'll have an achievement system running throughout the show. Doing well in one of the few official events will get you points. Generally being awesome or noteworthy will get you points handed out by our steadfast and honest staff who absolutely CANNOT be bribed. Nope. Can't be bribed for points.

Nope...

But what good is individual achievement? Well, quite a lot, I guess. But there's something bigger going on here. So, announcement the second: Teams! That's right, you'll be assigned teams based on location. This is the real game going on. Initially, people will be put on red, green, blue and gold teams but we'll have you name them soon. Those teams are the reason you're going to try and excel at some games. Help your team win! Shame the others! If no one cries, I'll be most upset. Oh and your team will be on your nametag and you T-shirt will be the appropriate color. Sweet, no?

And last but certainly not least... registration is open. Go sign up. Please let me know what you're bringing (TV, 360, board games, etc). And reserve those hotel rooms!

Remember I said something about a T-shirt? Check out the registration page.

Any questions, post them in here, hit twitter or shoot me an email.

I look forward to seeing you guys in a few months =)

I weep weepy tears

I registered, but the email I got was all wrong. Literally all the options except for the text boxes showed up as the wrong option.
