Plus we continue our exploration of the game closet with reviews of Mercenaries and Arcanum. This week's featured Musical Artist is Dax Baumgartner. Go ahead and give it a listen. I spent my last three hours last night replacing a half-ton 1700 horsepower electric motor.

Quit your whining

Good show again, just like every other week.

And damnit, "Podunk Stomp" is still awesome.

Good show indeed. Shawn, you're not the only one with that same damn problem in Arcanum. The dungeon part of this game just pisses me off..

He will eat your SOUL!

A good show! Nice selection of music for "the artist showcase", too!

Speaking of "5-minute speech" pieces -- it has already been suggested previously that you probably should look into "live GWJ employee profiles". This can be a whole friggin lot of fun. Certis and Fletch interviewing someone -- that's like David Letterman and Ali G combined!

You're definitely correct in that sense, for sure.

You should start with an audio interview with ColdForged. One can never get enough of a grown man screaming "c*ck!" in one's life, if you ask me.

Good show!

Regarding Ads in games... I personally hate them! Aren't there enough of them on TV, Movies, Internet, Radio, Magazines or even on the streets? Seriously, I think if companies could broadcast advertisement to out mind while we sleep... they would certainly do that. (Ref.: to Futurama)

I'll go one step further and say that the past employee profiles should be guest co-hosts for the show. Not only can it be pretty damn funny, but you never know what kind of talent you will find.

Quiet response to this week's show, obviously we need to talk about camel toe more often. Or maybe games that are less than five years old

Next week I'm going to have a ton of new stuff to cover, you will be both shocked and AMAZED. WoooOOOooOOoOOoo.

Glad I'm not alone in that, I was starting to think I was crazy and I was missing something really obvious. Like a switch that makes the golum fall down a trap door or something, guess not. Did you ever get past it?

You're definitely correct in that sense, for sure.

I find your lack of bloopers disturbing.

On a slightly modified note, while the music is again outstanding, it occured to me listening this week what a great job GWJ Radio Team (read: Russ) does of mixing the show including the music. I don't know how else to put it, except to say the show just flows.

Thanks for another entertaining show. Unfortunately, playing through FOs made Arcanum unbearable for me:( I couldn't even get pass crash site... sigh...

Yes I did, eventually. Just summon some creatures to fight for you.

Fallout talk is always good! although I do agree with you on the camel toe subject.

Agreed, The music is great as always!

Very slick production, top to bottom. I think Fletcher's nailed it. Great discussion. And the music's excellent. Bonus points for the Sesame Street Martian impersonation. Yipyip.

I did miss the outtakes.

I'm finding myself looking forward to these webcasts more with each new week. Keep the same quality coming so the addiction will continue. It's nice to have something entertaining to listen to while I do other nonentertaining things.

In Fallout, you're pretty much limited to what you can carry. I'd recommend unloading guns so you can keep either the gun or the ammo, but not both. Some items will sell for quite a bit.

In Fallout 2, things are a LOT easier. You can't carry much more personally, but you can get some super-strong allies (like Marcus the Super Mutant), which make good mules. Just be careful of their weapon settings and what you give them. I was usually cruising with Marcus and Goris, and Marcus loved to whip out a minigun and blow Goris away. In Fallout 2 you also get that car, which has a nice big trunk.

One of the sidequests in Fallout 2 is this huge old military base. It's really dangerous with lots of big robot guards but there is sooooo much loot in there. Toward the end of the game I'd just make expeditions down there to pull up as much high-quality loot as I could carry (high end guns, fusion cells, etc.). I could just keep going and going and never run out of stuff to loot.

You'll make the game a lot easier for yourself if you max your AP as much as possible, BTW. Max your Agility (I think) right in character generation, then take AP boost perks, even the ones that just give you AP specifically for moving. Also look for weapon upgrades; the Magnum Revolver is a great pistol and when you upgrade it with a speedloader it only takes 1 AP to reload. AP is the key to Fallout. With a lot of AP and good aim you can take out groups of enemies before they can even hit you.

Gosh, thanks. I am the Night Rider! I'm a fuel-injected suicide machine!

Yeah. Guess we were just perfect this week. Either that, or I didn't have the time to go hunting for them. Which, if you think about it, is almost the same thing.

On a semi-related note: sorry about the lack of music track listings this week. I'll try to get those up in a day or so for posterity. Big thanks to Dax for his music this week. I'll also try to get bio or website info from him so y'all can hunt down more of his work. Ian is about to give birth (or his wife is - one of the two) and I'm in tech for The Nightmare Musical from Hell, so Team GWJ Radio is a little preoccupied this week.

Also, I've been informed by numerous persons that a 5-minute max for Radio Submissions is a bit insane. For everyone. So I'm going to officially change that max to 30 seconds.

Also, also, not sure how official this is yet, but Radio will be coming to you at a "special time" next week. I think we'll be on Thursday instead of Tuesday. Not sure if that's going to be permanent yet or not. Sorry 'bout that for all of y'all who've got set podcast listening schedules and all.

Thanks to all for the kind words. And thanks for listening. I'm busy as hell these days, but producing Radio is a bright spot in my otherwise dark, dark world

So I only have to fart into the microphone for half a minute rather than five? Well, my anus will certainly appreciate it.

If you can do that without sh*tting yourself, I am interested in hearing it. Come to think of it, I'm interested either way.

Oh, and you can check out Dax and his music over at www.daxmusic.com. There are a lot of cool demos for your listening pleasure, including some great rock stuff that he didn't submit to us.

I'm loving this show, you guys are doing an awesome job. I was just wondering what song started playing around 4:20-30. I believe you were saying what you were going to talk about. The intro to the song kinda sounded like the HGTTG soundtrack.

Edit: Also - hi all

That would be the ol' Podunk Stomp, as written and performed by yours truly. Glad you liked it.

You guys are really putting it down now. Seemless (nearly) conversations and a good depth on each topic. It's fun to watch Fletch's editing skills evolve right before our eyes.

Enjoyed the show once again.~ This comment brought to you by Oops I Crapped My Pants!

Thank you for that

I want to join the lovefest for Podunk Stomp. Awe.Some. I did miss the xylophone GWJ theme though. It just makes me smile. What's better than a xylophone? Nothing. Except maybe a xylophone with a cowbell.

Another great episode guys. Looking forward to the next one, but I think come this Tuesday I'm going to experience some distress. I'll take two xylophones and try to wait it out.

Do I get the award for most xylophones in a single post? How many Shawn points? Oh, and what do I do with the damn things anyway?

Maybe for Tuesday I'll try to put together a little sumpin' to tide y'all over. Maybe with xylophones. Maybe.

**EDIT: Yeah, okay. So that's not gonna happen. Exhaustion hits like a frying pan in the dark and Fletcher decides he wants to sleep, drink have sex and play video games exclusively for the next 48 hours at least. I am, apparently, only human after all.

Quick update: We are back on track for a Tuesday 3/14 show. Thanks to all for your patience. Work really kicked my ass last week, Ian's whole "reproduction thing" apparently required his involvement and Shawn's weakness in the face of cold and flu bugs is well documented. We were all, therefore, pretty well out of commision.

We'll try to avoid leaving you guys hanging in the future, but owing to the nature of our enterprise here, a week without a show every once in a while will unfortunately be an enevitability.

Also, Dax Baumgartner, the featured musical artist from Episode 21 just checked in with a link to his website Dax Music Productions. There's a lot of cool stuff there, including a friendly dog! Check it out.

But his part was done nine months ago? Can't he produce music on a laptop in the delivery room?
