When you cry manly tears of manliness

Totally understandable. Anyone saying otherwise gets a free boot to the head.

Those, sir, are indeed manly tears.

Man, that's brutal. You have my deepest respect and understanding.

No words. Should have sent a poet. No poet. Thank god for emoticons.

That is rough. I'll be praying for you and the family.

This made my eyes water; possibly the manliest of tears.

My god... How many times did they have to replay that impact? The best reaction is from the dude in the blue in the background.

So my log pile was crying yesterday....

Be wary, it's very dusty in that thread...

Kung Fu Panda, just when Master Oogway turns into a flutter of blossom leaves and departs this world.

My 18 month old daughter stood up, and in the cutest voice ever said "Bye turtle, bye", waved at the screen and then blew him a kiss.

It got a little dusty...

The last episode of the first season of Boston Legal was kinda heartrending.

Walking into Memorial Hall (at the Canadian War Museum) and just feeling the peace and solitude that it provides.

Ultimate Fallout #1

Spoiler:

This is the issue where the funeral for Spiderman/Peter Parker is held. Walking into the cathedral, Aunt May is crying and is cobsoled by a young child who was saved by Spiderman at some point in time

"Do you need a hug right now?"

I lost it at that point.

Also, and related to the above

Spoiler:

The last words of Peter Parker. He had just beaten the Green Goblin by picking up a cube van and clubbing him with it a couple of times, before being blasted by the explosion. Aunt May walks up to him and asks "What did you do boy, what did you do?"

Peter replies:
"It's OK. I--I did it.
Don't you see...it's OK. I did it.
I couldn't save him.
Uncle Ben. I couldn't save him.
No matter what I did.
But I saved you.
I did it.
I did...

The ending of The Crystal Eye by Deborah Chester managed to get me. It is the last book of an interesting sci-fi trilogy with no human in it. Don't let all the anthropomorphic animal creatures turn you off, you don't have to be a furry to enjoy this series

anybody say it yet? no? okay. harry potter and the deathly hallows parts 1 AND 2. I've already gone through it in the catch-all so I won't list the moments. But damn. Wizard's life is rough.

Who'd have thunk a Cracked article would be suitable to post here.
8 Tiny things that stopped suicides.

I particularily like number 2.

Number 2 got me. Good old Aussies.

That reminded me of a story about a guy in China who rides his scooter back and forth over a bridge all day trying to save people trying to commit suicide.

There is a podcast for number 7 as well at The Moth. DMC tells his whole story and it is really good.

If you hadn't seen it elsewhere, a Russian plane filled with KHL hockey players went down yesterday. Numerous articles and tweets from affected people have threatened me already, but this one just totally did me in:

I can almost guarantee that is Karlis Skrastins family. Apparently his wife is pregnant with their third child. He was one of my favourite players.

This is a picture of his daughter:

I hate you right now, Vector. *dust*

I hate myself as well. I wasn't going to post anything but after reading that article I figured it was appropriate.

I knew I shouldn't have read that. I knew I shouldn't have even clicked on that link. But I did, and was completely gutted. f*ck all y'all.

I didn't discover Storycorps until recently, and they recently put up three stories about 9/11. The last line he says in this one is just... whoof.

"Always a Family" and "John and Joe" are similarly heart rending tributes.

Darn, unfortunately he's taken the story down and the google cache doesn't have it either.

So, my dad and I were crying manly tears. I had prepared sauteed peppers and onions forsome hot dogs and sausages. My dad, being the magnanimous gent, cleaned up. Seeds, stems into the trash. Dad then takes a pee, unaware of the hot peppers he just handled. I being fully aware, scratched my eye an hour later.

Sweet f*ck that is wrenching.

Those are the manliest of tears.
