Tough week for Pitt as they drop a spot in the ranking and have a couple of handful of recruits jump ship to other colleges.

Sorry DS and Redhwk. I waited for as long as could and decided to roll the league this morning.

Auburn will get their lickings tonight.

Will Kansas beat Oklahoma and finally get ranked this season. Tune in to find out!

Of course, you may all be laughing at me when OU puts 50+ points up on my defense.

It happens, and the outcome is about what I figured with my starting QB out (and then losing my 2nd stringer in the game) and Oregon States inflated home field advantage

Kansas goes to Norman and eeks out a 21-14 victory over #10 Oklahoma.

The highlight of the game had to be in the fourth quarter, where after forcing OU to punt with more than 4 minutes left, and holding on to a 21-14 lead, DJ Beshears ran the ball 13 times. It was with just under two minutes that coach Jay Hawker received a text from Notre Dame coach Fire Sloth that said simply, "don't fumble..."

Luckily, second string HB, Beshears, is better at holding on to the ball than starter Toben Opurum, who was lost for the season to injury a few weeks ago.

NCAA FB 12 preview at OperationSports. This part sounded fun:

zone defenders will also shift their coverages based on where the receivers actually are on the field -- novel concept. If the offense sets up with a flooded right side of the field, defenders on the left side will actually move to protect the farthest portion to the right of their zones. It does not mean they will abandon their coverage area, but rather they just now notice that the closest danger will be coming from the right side.

Also...

As far as tackling and other physics-related contact goes, the developers are trying their hardest to remove the much-maligned "suction" from the game.

And THIS:

Custom playbooks are in the game this year, and the interface to tweak your selected plays is really intuitive. Beyond just picking plays, you can even switch the three plays you see on each page of your playbook. So that means while you are in a game, you can flip through your playbook and know what three plays are on each page of that playbook.

Custom playbooks!!! FINALLY!

I'm lukewarm on the custom playbooks.

I actually like trying out different team playbooks, and the strategy involved in the advantages and disadvantages of each. But more than that. I'd hate to see the playbook become a big giant collection of money plays from every formation. That's why I always figured they avoided it.

But overall, I see nothing that makes me think they are going to ruin my favorite football game in a long time.

You know what I'd like? Logs of every play called in text files that can be used to analyze data on what plays are being called. I'd like to use that to scout my opponent in the same way I would look at game film. If I see what plays he runs out of which formations, I can create something to stop it. This leads to more head games that we can play with each other.

And if not a direct feed of the game, I with there was a simple Gamecast to view a game as it is being played out like you would see on Yahoo or ESPN. Update each play with who and what, as well as a current box score.

That'd be a nice feature that didn't involve too much extra bandwidth.

I liked the customizable playbooks in APF2k8. It was nice to be able arrange plays in your playbook so you could find them, plus take out plays that didn't fit your style.

Yeah, it's fine. I was about to come on and say you should roll it as I was getting sick of waiting and wanted to proceed to my next game.

ehh. Waited around for 40 minutes, even sent DS a text, got no response.

lol, what?

Oh, that's funny. I got that text (because I'd given redhwk my phone number last week so we could try to connect) and I thought it was from the Portland S&T last night. That's a bummer. I called the number back and no one answered. I assumed that was bad cell reception at Ground Kontrol. That's funny.

LSU wins 77-0 win against Auburn. Auburn gave up 21 points on turnovers. It was not a pretty game as Auburn tried to run an option offense with one of the slowest QBs in the SEC. The LSU second stringers made it into the game at halftime.

ND defeats Navy 62-7. One stupid mistake leads to the first score of the game, the only score by Navy. Starting QB Crist went 13-14 before being pulled in the second half. He technically completed all of his passes if you include the one to the other team. Cierre Wood gained another 153 yards on the ground to go with 69 receiving yards. He scored 3 TDs.

Kicker Ben Turk had touchbacks on all but one of his kickoffs, many going 9 yards deep into the end zone. He also kicked a 57 yard FG to go with the 55 harder from last week. I saved that FG and a kickoff as highlights!! All this with only 4 mph winds.

Next up for ND is the big battle with #2 LSU!!

LMAO! You uploaded your touchback. Priceless.

Leroyog wrote:

Hey, that was only one of about 9 touchbacks!! With a 4 mph wind at my back, they all went to the backline of the endzone. Into the wind they only made it about 3 yards deep.

Of course, if that were online versus a human, they only would have gotten to the 20 due to the lag in the kicking game...

3 games left to go.

I hope everyone had a good weekend!

I ate a lot of food yesterday. It was awesome.

New Mexico falls to Boise State. It wasn't close.

I think I might have set an indoor record for ham consumed. I made a root beer glaze with mine that's pretty damn tasty.

Root Beer glaze you say? I'm interested in this. I'm not a fan of brown sugar glaze but I love me some root beer.

If DS is done with his recruiting, we can move forward. Are you done with recruiting DS?

No, definitely loves me some brown sugar.

BROWN SUGAR!!! HOW COME YOU TASTE SO GOOD?!??!
YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! WOOOOOOOO!

My recruiting should be on auto. As poorly as I've done I've taken to popping in and manually recruiting when I want, but otherwise leaving it to the computer.

No problem. I will roll the league tonight when get home!

Firesloth...in anticipation of the week rolling, when is a good time for you this week? My availability is in my signature. Thursday night is a no go for obvious NFL draft reasons.

I'm usually not available until 10:30 or 11 pm, and that sometimes depends on the boy actually going to bed.

Tonight *might* be a possibility, although I suspect I'll be working at that time. You'll also be fighting against Counselor for a chance to beat up on me. Tomorrow or Friday are both possibilities. How late will the draft run on Thursday? Also, who cares about the draft this year?

I do, I'm a draft nerd. The draft probably runs till 10:30-11pm. We could play afterward.

Rolled. New thread coming!
