"Left 4 Dead" Catch All

Still, it gets even simpler for us to have you post the link to your profile.

Not without a link to your steam id ;)

My name is my SteamID: XantaKlawz. It keeps things simple.

So for S&G I tried to search for you on steam and got:

No group or player records were found matching your search terms.

Need a link.

edit: nevermind found you in the GWJ group and invite sent.

Thanks for the invite.

Kickin' it old school! The simplicity was kind of refreshing. Too bad about the early tanks.

Yeah, we gotta do that more often. It was so nice to play a character that has legs. That and zombies are scarier when it's dark.

Evil mentioned he had some interest in this. Peeps still got this installed then, yes?

I'd forgotten how many trees there are. Smokers can just stand near the trail, hide in a tree, and pull away. It's hard to spot them.

I so wish they'd mod over blood harvest. One of my favoritest maps by far.

Here's the video from our game the other day!

I didn't get a recording of the first half of the first map.

Each next round is in the video responses.

Final score

So, seems to be some old school interest in playing this game again. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who still has it installed.

I still find myself liking the original better. Half the time it seems like L4D2 games end up with people grumpy from all the hyper-competitive behavior that game seems to breed, yet L4D games end with people joking and laughing. When you add that to the fact that I still like the maps better, and the Survivor characters a lot better, it makes me a happy camper when I see announcements for L4D Vs.

I am always up for L4D versus--but of course, L4D2 lobbies is what people generally start up.

So... uh... Dead Air versus tonight?

Next lobby I'll start will be for L4D1, tho no idea when that will be. I still love L4D2, but I do have a softer spot in my heart for the first.

I prefer all the older maps. Blood Harvest, Dead Air, and Death Toll are some of my favs. Heck, my least fav, NM, is the one they transferred over.

Sometime I feel sad for this thread... ignored and left behind.

Nope, I've just had a spark of re-interest lately as well. Headed over to this thread to see if anyone else was still playing.

Never removed it. Like Elycion, I still prefer these maps and characters. The few times I've started an L4D match there were usually sufficient joiners. I would rather have the weapons and SI from L4D2 in all the original maps (whenever that happens), but at the risk of sounding like a broken record - L4D still feels more evenly balanced and with generally better overall map design.

One might consider scheduling a game a day or so in advance so the interested can try to be online.

Disclaimer- I hardly play anything these days due to work but there are many who would read your newsletter.

I remember this game being good.

I would be down for a l4d1 campaign tonight or possibly vs this weekend.

I'm usually up for a game. If I'm not working away on something, of course.

How fun was that vs game the other night?

Extremely fun.

Thanks for talking me into the game, guys, though vs would have been even more fun-- I had to drop when the vs game was getting started.

It would be so nice of Valve to include a "gameplay mode" when they port the remaining maps over to L4D2 that allows you to use the original crew and special infected. Some of the spots in Blood Harvest would be lethal if a charger/spitter got in there.

My first preference would be for L4D1 and L4D2, and any further L4D games to be integrated into one game. It would also stop 3rd party campaigns being for either one, the other, or both. No community/playerbase split as it's just one base.

The second preference would be to port all the L4D1 stuff to L4D2 and offer anyone who has L4D1 a ridiculously cheap price on L4D2, effectively depreciating L4D1.

There's a few tiny details about L4D1 that I prefer, such as the UI and the character body being visible, but I'm sure I could get over them.

Blood Harvest was a lot of fun last night, I forgot how much I liked that campaign. The scoring system is still ridiculous though.

I don't think they'll ever be able to make "L4D1 in L4D2" possible—the world physics actually change significantly. Even if you put in a hunter-hunter-smoker-boomer mode (which I bet you could make a server mod to do), the L4D2 hunters don't work quite the same way as the original hunters. (And there are other differences, too.)
