This is Gamers With Jobs Radio, the video gaming podcast for people who hate podcasts. This week, Russ and Shawn discuss the New Lara Croft's tight ... pants. Plus retro reviews of Fallout and Psychonauts, and an in-depth look at Layoffs at Atari and a controversy over Xbox Live Gamerscores. Also, some hot, new music tracks from this week's Featured Artist, our very own Ian "Podunk" Dorsch. Make it a four-day weekend. This is Radio, fool.

Is there a word stronger than "Filthy Skimmer"? Look right above your post, in the "links" section of the Radio page.

**edit: nevermind. My link was busted.

I was about a second from mentioning that before you backpedaled. I owe you a stern talking to, buddy.

Either that or the firewall at work specifically blocks all mention of toe

And yes I totally agree with you guys, smelling new games is a great time. Mind you I do get the odd raised eyebrow at work, but what do they know! The key is to not make it too obvious..

Awesome podcast guys, keep up the great work! I gotta listen to all of 'em now, since I just got into podcasts. Thanks for all the great stuff.

These shows get more entertaining every week. The music is awesome, Fletch and Certis are hilarious...and I'm learning oh so much about the gaming industry. I just have to add that Psychonauts is incredibly fun, and it was on the gogamer midnight madness thingy for only $9.90 about a week ago, you missed a great deal Cert.

Oh, and Happy 20th episode. I got you this:

=D I wish I had this show + an iPod at jury duty today.... ah well its a good way to start my evening after going though 10 hours of sitting in silence. =\

Really glad you guys are enjoying the show, the music guys are amazing and Fletcher does an excellent job putting it all together.

SillyRabbit gets 30,000 Shawn Points for the cake.

Fallout1&2 are probably my favorite games of all time!! top 5 at least, in fact I would go as far as to say that Im more excited about the prospect of FO3 Coming out then I am about Oblivion.

Psychonauts is worth it for "The Milkman Conspiracy" alone.

There's certainly a lot of good stuff in the game. The problem I have with it, is the same that many of these action-with-boss-battles games do, it reaches a point where the game becomes too frustrating to be worth the effort it takes to continue.

In case it makes a difference, I'm playing the PC version. Possibly the console versions are not so much trouble, but then again, I don't own any consoles...

I must have spent at least a dozen hours trying and trying to get through the "Meat Circus" area. How is that "fun"? From some of the comments I've read elsewhere, I'm not alone in frustration during the end-game levels.

I've yet to finish the game, either. I finally got to the final boss battle (according to the walkthrough I find I ended up needing to consult...another sign of something wrong in my opinion) and just cannot seem to work up the energy to go through all the try and retry and retry to get through it.

In my opinion, if the game had been capped off with an extended cut scene instead of the end-game as it stands today, I'd have had a much more positive experience.

My bottom line is that I must contest Fletcher's assertion that all gamers should play Psychonauts. Certainly not if you cannot deal with the twitch crud this game requires to finish it.

Having finished it myself I would say people that consider themselves hardcore gamers should play Psychonauts, but with no stipulation on beating it. They just have to make it to Goggalor.

First, Goggalor is indeed a must for any self respecting gamer.

Second, after much thorough and purely academic research I wish to pose the following theory: The shorts are not only tight but are specifically cut so as to promote the appearance of a frontal wedgie by way of a subtle dip at the seam. I do not think Fletcher is right that the camel toe in picture 16 was added in touch ups, but neither do I think that it was just a trick of the light. The shorts appear to me as though they are very intentionally tailored to present (be it genuine or not) the look of a perpetual camel toe.

Thanks for the back-up Zero, but it wasn't my assertion that it was CG. I was thinking it was more along the lines of foam padding, but a specifically tailored seam is an interesting theory. I shall ask the head seamstress at the theater tomorrow if such a thing is possible.

Also, Goggalor is the best level in any game ever. End of discussion.

I suppose the next question would be whether it's okay to play a game without the expectation of ever finishing it, presumably to enjoy the early parts.

Maybe it's me, but with a game that I've mostly enjoyed but haven't finished, it lingers on my machine taunting me. I really want to know what the ending is, so I can't just uninstall it; that seems like it's saying the effort I put into the game so far has been a waste. (I have been known to get so frustrated with a game's ending--see my whining on Beyond Good and Evil from a year+ ago--that I will give up and uninstall the game. I still feel petty for having done so. :()

I recently finished Indigo Prophecy, for example. I found the action portions annoying. I really didn't like having to focus entirely on the superimposed color circles and the left/right arrow banging slider instead of what was actually happening in the game. I also really didn't like the lack of any real game save control, forcing one to repeat long action sequences because you screwed up one later on in the same chapter.

I also started the game on "normal" but the only way I could seem to get through to the end was to reset it to "easy" for a couple of the sequences. Regardless, I wanted to get through to the end, and I'm at least in part happier for having done so. Eventually I hope that I'll be able to say the same for Psychonauts.

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. And good luck asking that question without being slapped (with a hand or a lawsuit), but do report back any findings you may happen upon; inquiring minds want to know.

Lawsuit? Have you ever been in a theater?

I worked at a movie theater during the summer breaks when I was in college. Does that count?

Not unless you and your coworkers regularly got together in a big room with a lot of lights and mirrors and stripped down and applied makeup to each other and put on elaborate costumes.

They said they wouldn't tell anyone about that, goddamnit!

Yeah personal boundaries are a lot more lenient around here. Almost to the point of non-existence. I could ask about the possibility of sewing a pair of shorts to accentuate a performer's camel toe in a room full of men and women, in cluding my boss, and no one would so much as bat an eyelash. We have far more outlandish conversations than that on pretty much a daily basis.

Alright the word from someone I consider to be an expert in the field of making unusual and/or custom garments is as follows:

You're talking about sewing the pants to create a false camel toe? Well, that's something we generally try to avoid, but I suppose if you really wanted to, you could do it.

There you have it. Expert testimony. I shall await my accolades.

Well done, sir. You are a scholar and a gentleman, and should be commended for your good deeds.

Hey, I got a music question. Who does that awesome guitar riff used in the breaks and at the end of the podcast, with the heavy cymbol action? That is AWESOME, and I want it! Thanks!

That is me, dood, and thank you for the compliment.

Download tracks over here. The first two on the list are from the show.

AWESOME STUFF, mate, thanks!

Best one yet, guys! The quality of these things is really starting to take off.. I am most impressed.

Dudes, I cannot beleive you didn't use FannyPack Crew's cameltoe as part of your soundtrack for this one.

Truly, that was a grievous oversight.

Instead of custom shorts, you could always use a cameltoe cup (Might be NSFW).

Oh man, I totally forgot about the cameltoe cup!
