3DS Catch-all

Are you making the same mistake I'm making... in that 'triple tap' actually means 'hit all three punch buttons at once'?

I've tried it both ways!

Well, I got to try one. About an hour ago, I used one for long enough to edit my Mii on someone else's system, which might have been five minutes. And ... I still feel like I have motion sickness. Ugh.

Yeah, my status on my online card refers to headaches. I got them on day 1. Not so much anymore, but as I predicted I won't have it in 3D much. At the very least my eyes are working hard to comprehend what they're seeing.

Still waiting for my Amazon shipment, but at Best Buy yesterday, they had a cabinet *full* of systems. I'm sure the 3ds has sold well, but it sure doesn't look like another "can't find one in the store for 2.5 years" item like the wii was.

The Wii during launch week could be found. It was AFTER people played it.

This thing will be huge. I think it will out sell the DS.

Edit: more than 650,000 units sold during day 1. It's going to be huge.

I've already turned the 3D off. I just don't care to try and keep the system in just the right position. I keep getting slight double vision of submarines.

I can't wait to give the other features a try once I get all the WiFi data sorted out.

I thought it was capped at 100 coins?
Yeah, I want that Metroid picture too.
I just don't like the idea of carrying around something so valuable all the time.

How long does it take to have someone show up on your list as a confirmed friend once we both enter each others friend's codes?

Not very long at all. Especially if they happen to be online when you enter their friend code.

How long does it take for this beast to charge? Sheesh! I thought it would at least arrive close to full!

Ok, finally got mine and set up. I'll add everyone up to now as Friends.

When I first turned mine on, it had 3/4s of life in it.

I got some time with SSFIV. It's gorgeous, but I suck so bad at fighting games it's sad.

Might I suggest the timeless tactic of 'jump backwards and kick'?

It's capped at 10 coins per day with an upper limit of 300 coins max I think.

Wait, what are the coins for? Do one-hundred grant you an extra life?

I think In theory they'll be used in any games for unlocking extra stuff. (For example, I could forsee them maybe using these as hint coins in the 3DS layton game, or converting them into rupees in Zelda, etc). That's assuming they make proper use of them of course.

Right now you can use them in the street pass thing to buy puzzle pieces or hire 'heros' for the little adventure thing they've got going.

Hats are involved in the latter.

I picked up a Mii named 'tbone' while wandering around the city yesterday, apparently having come across him twice! It's like some kind of adorable social disease.

Got my first streetpass action too, I guess from either the cafe I ate dinner at or the Gamestop nearby.

^^ Why does that sound so...naughty?

Swap a few nouns and it could sound like I got the clap from a toilet seat, maybe? And the word action.

Yeah, but who gets action at Gamestop?

Welcome to the club! It's sad I had to put it on Easy just to beat Guile

We should create a lobby of GWJ suck at some point.

I could not beat E Honda for the life of me last night, but man do the striations of his muscles look good in 3D.

I'd be up for some Street Fighter.

I haven't gotten around to adding everyone, though. Damned Pokemon gets in the way of everything.

I'm completely up for some Street Fighter.

How does this Street Pass feature impact the already dubious battery life?

I had the system in my coat pocket at work today in sleep mode for 8 hours and the battery indicator was still at 100% when I got home. The thing in sleep mode seems about as solid as the DS, so StreetPass is reasonable in that regard.

Frankly now that I've had it for a few days of my normal routine I think a revision would need a lot more than a better battery capacity for me to buy. The 3DS needs the teat less often than my iPhone 3GS. As I've said before, when I travel long distances I tend toward sleeping or reading books, not playing games, so this is working fine for me. YMMV, but yeah.

I've found that I definitely have to pace myself when playing games. I love the 3d effect, but I am definitely getting headaches and motion sickness. Nothing bad enough where I want to stop playing altogether, but bad enough to warrant frequent breaks.

The system is designed not to be turned off.
