It's based off personal experience. While I'm willing to fudge a bit on NDA issues, anything more detailed than what I've already said definitely isn't happening on a public forum.

They're not in friends and family beta yet, so it's still early.

Actually, friends and family beta has come and gone.

The EA corporate guy who said that recently must have been confused as Bioware devs have said that they are in a closed testing phase with around 2k testers, with more invites going out routinely.

If I had to guess, I would say they are on track for a September release, with an open beta likely tied to preorders this summer.

Yep at some point last year i remember a post about them seriously opening up testing around March.

Added the spoiler links for the Jedi Knight and Jedi Consular. They're from Darthhater.com and their hands on experience with the 2 classes.

So we have two catch alls?

The other catch all with be locked after the Sith guild is picked.

Nevermind

Anyone seen an article or something comparing TOR to WoW? Seems like there are many similarities, including the trinity. Seems like TOR won't try to be ambitious and player-driven in the way that some earlier MMOs like SWG were (although I didn't play SWG to know for sure).

I understand each class has two advanced classes; do each of those advanced classes have their own talent trees? It would seem so from what I'm reading about each AC being able to DPS.

My understanding is that you can go down any tree you want (within the advanced class choice), but only have a set number of points so you benefit more by comitting to one tree or another.

Thanks!

Also, in perusing Darth Hater, I just saw they have a podcast. Gonna check that out on my way into work this morning.

Well, since the Baadjer name for the Sith guild went down in a blaze like Porkins; I decided I'm going to use it as the squad name for my Trooper. Not sure why I am so drawn to it, but it resonated with me when I saw it. My Trooper will be a proud member of the Commando Baadjers, or something I haven't decided fully. I also need a unit number to go with it; any suggestions (I'm partial to 13 or 99, but units are usually 3 digit).

I'm hooked on Baadjer too... can my Bounty Hunter join your unit?

Baadjer!

I can verify that the friends and family beta is in effect.

I can verify that the friends and family beta has just started.

They announced that started 4+ months or so ago. There are supposed to be new waves of testing starting. Maybe they're still calling it F&F, but its a new wave a testing. Normally the F&F tag gets dropped after the first wave.

My bad. I meant that friends and family isn't over yet, still in effect.

Yeah sounds like there is some inconsitancey within Bioware/EA as to what exactly the current test program is called, but that is just semantics.

If this means you are testing the game [I believe that Bioware does allow you to state that you are in the testing program but nothing else] then you and Elycion are on my list.

I can say there's a beta, and I can say I'm in it. There, I said it! Man, that felt good.

Is this a good list or a bad list, ferret?

To dave010 and our other British GWJ'ers, this opportunity to play the game in London might be of interest.

With all the new info coming out got me to cave in and buy the Deceived novel. Starts off with the attack shown in the first trailer they released by the same name.

Probably shouldnt have its making me want the game even more.

I was toying with starting a thread for the discussion of tie-ins etc. for the purpose of getting in the mood, so to speak. I'd link various books, comics, etc. in the OP as suggestions rolled in. Thoughts?

maybe a link to another thread... the OP is getting a little crowded and only going to get more crowded. I keep going back / forth of adding another video.

That's what I mean - I'd update the other thread's OP to be a definitive list; you could just link that thread here.

Have Trandoshans actually been confirmed as a playable race? I can't find any info to support that. Also, you left out Mirialans.

On purpose... they werent on their race page. All the other ones have data pages setup. Each one (well except human) i have a link to their data page. I also left out a couple races that have data pages but havent been confirmed as player playable. Obviously when they start confirming this information i'll change the OP.

Miraluka. Sold.

Fantastic.

Ya i may pass on zabrak and pick this one myself.

I started the thread about ways to get even more geeked out for SWTOR here. Work in progress, yadda yadda yadda...

I would think that the Zabraks and the Sith purebloods would be switched in terms of possible classes.

Added the Dev Tracker to the OP

Great news, Bioware will be supporting multiple languages. Even Wookie.

Gotta be impressed with their thorough localization.
