Pokemon Gotta Catch-Em-All

I would love an Oshawott! All I have that's really of value is Archens, but I could also give you pretty much anything else that came up before the electric gym.

Do we need to do the friend code thing to trade one on one? Mine is 3696 9578 0826.

I don't really need much at the moment. I just managed to snag a female Archen, so I'm good there. If you *have* to give me something because of how it works, just go catch a Lillipup or something. =)

Oh, and I have Tirtougas now too.

Plural? because I'd also love one of those. If you have an extra female one that would be awesome. I'm planning to get into breeding so I can hook up my RL friends.

Blind forgot to add the link.

Here's the spreadsheet we're using to file/find friend codes. You do need to exchange in order to trade one on one.

The process for trading with a friend over wifi is

-Talk to the middle clerk upstairs at the Pokemon Center, connect to wifi
-Once you're in, go to the computer at the front of the room and tell it to search for trade partners
-Assuming the person you intend to trade with is online and in that room also, they'll be transported to your room

From there you can battle, trade, etc.

It's a shame that it's easier (kinda) to trade with strangers than it is friends, but alas.

Nuh-uh.

I added you on Steam, but I so very rarely use it. Just lemme know when you wanna trade.

I'm in the room now.

omw. sorry, had to go help a friend pillage stuff from their office.

Er, so I see you there but I can't seem to interact with you.

And yeah, I bred some tirtugas and I think I still have a female.

Awesome, And I was trading with Blind, who may have been invisible if your not on his friend list.

Cool, once we're done, I'll add everybody else. Also, right before I jumped into our room, it looks like I got a female Snivy, so I should have some of those soon too.

EDIT: Lillipup is so god damn cute.

Awesome, And I was trading with Blind, who may have been invisible if you're not on his friend list.

Edit: Great trading with you Blind, Atras, and Necroyeti.

Evil Blind set me up with a female Tynamo. It's apparently a real PIA to catch so I'm going to start breeding them for everybody along with my Archens.

Necro also gave me a female Tirtuga, so I'll start breeding them as well.

Really? I saw a ton of them in that damn cave and caught one the first time I met one. Maybe I'm just lucky.

BTW Blind, you get that Vullaby yet? I have a few old school pokemon I need to trade with someone to get them evolved as well (in particular a Clamperl so I can get it evolved to Gorebyss) if anyone's still around. If not, tomorrow is good too.

Tynamo's are 2% in that (chargestone?) cave except for the basement floor where they are 8%.

I must have been hitting that 2% a lot then, I could swear I ran into about 10 or 15 of the fuggers. ^_^

Alrighty, I think I'm enabled. Other than the pokemon exclusive to each version, what's the difference between the two?

Version differences.

Hey Yonder-- I'll take one of those Tynamos once you get the breeding program up and running, if you've got some to spare. Would love a female, but either sex is fine. =)

Ok, I'll start breeding them up this evening. The gender ratio is 50/50 so I should be able to guarantee you a female.

I've read the wiki on breeding, but still not sure I really grasp exactly how it works.

You place two same egg-type Pokeys at the daycare and after 'X' amount of steps they have a chance to produce an egg, and then you wader 'X' amount of steps with the egg in your backpack before it hatches? Is this correct-ish?

Yeah, basically. The species of the baby will be the same as that of the mother, which is why females are important. However. the baby can inherit moves from the dad, so you can create some sort of unholy abomination through selective breeding. I believe there's also a way to pass along natures/stats, but I haven't got that far into it.

EDIT: http://serebii.net/games/breed.shtml

Yeah, that's exactly right. I would only get into breeding once you have the bike. After you do it's not very time consuming.

When I was breeding my Archen I went out and caught a male Pidove to leave with her. Since they were different species and the same ID (both belonged to me originally) I had the lowest possible egg chance of 20% every cycle (256 steps). That's still enough that biking all the way back and forth in front of the day care gave me an egg every 2nd or third time I passed them.

Once I had five eggs I went on a long cycling trip up and down that sky bridge to give all the eggs the 7000 steps they needed.

Does anyone have fire pigs boning down? I'd like to get my hands on a baby fire-pig wrestler thing.

Unfortunately that seems like the only thing that we don't have a female of in the collective. I had a RL friend that is starting up soon and I'm going to try to talk him into restarting the game until he gets a female fire pig.

This is my method exactly. Well, that and playing Bronze. (Substitute in your favorite non-twitch game.)

No Vullaby yet, sorry Dhelor. I got distracted with catching legendaries and the 3DS yesterday.

Does it seem weird that now there are around 600 pokemon but we can still only store 300 in our boxes?

240 actually.

I think once you're able to get the full 649 you'll get an upgraded box.

I have a hand on a friend's DS at the moment. Should I be able to put my cartridge in their DS, and start a new game in order to get a female Tepig, then sprint through to beat the first Gym, give the female Tepig to a random goodjer, and then take my cartridge back to my DS, load my original saved game, and then trade for that Tepig from the goodjer so that I could start breeding them?

I can't think of a reason that shouldn't work, but I already have like 40 hours in this game and don't want to mess it up.

The game save isn't on the cart?

ELewis17 wrote:

It is on the cartridge, but we should be able to have more than one save game right?

Really I wonder if you could do all this without the Friend's cartridge, although using it would give me a different friend code.
