Goodjers of Landroval (LOTRO)

I've taken a quick look at the Spring Festival stuff. There's not all that much great stuff to get, though if you still don't have your 8 racial dances now's a good time to get them. There's also a fish-slapping emote that must be mine at any cost.

The maze is kind of annoying, even with a map. It sucks how they don't let you do everything at once when each run is a bit of an investment (especially love how when you finish the maze you need to run all the way around the edge to get back to the quest givers). I've instead been focusing on the Duillond activities. Namely, shrew-crushing.

Seriously, that's how Elves celebrate Spring. Stomping on shrews with special shrew-stomping boots, including ENORMOUS versions for stepping on huge shrews.

Crush 160 for the "Shrewd" title!

It's a bit frustrating at first if you aren't quick enough since it seems everyone in the universe is better than I am. Fortunately you are only able to squish 10 shrews per round and there plenty available so as the round goes on and everyone else hits their limit it gets much easier.

Just make sure you're the one who gets the Enormous Shrew. Only one per round and it's worth 5 spring leaves.

The shrew stomping tends to get easier later in the festival. Fewer people still trying at that point.

Just a quick survey: How many of you pay for a subscription to the game or buy Turbine points (or whatever their store currency is called)?

I grabbed a lifetime sub back when they ran a special at $200.00. I think I'd played 3 months at $10 per month at that point and knew I would be dabbling in it for a long time. Seeing all these new folks coming in may even get me back playing. But all my good toons are on Brandywine. It would be nice if I could send some gold over to the poor toon on Landroval (at least I think I have one there, will have to look).

Anyway, I've not purchased any Turbine points yet either.

Since I'm so invested with multpile toons, I pay for a month or two as needed. The mood only hits me every few months to log on, but my toons are well past the free play stuff. Never actually priced the points.

Ironically enough I found the Gamers with Jobs site while looking for a LotRO founder with extra referrals so I could buy a lifetime sub. Almost 2 years ago now I think and I have been addicted to lurking and listening to the podcast ever since

We're probably going to keep playing LOTRO for the forseeable future. I looked at Rift and thought it looked like LOTRO with slightly higher rez. I think it will be either Old Republic or Secret World that pulls us away but until then there is a glut of content available on LOTRO to keep us busy.

Ah. I'd been wondering who the heck you two were that's always ignoring me when it's just the three of us on.

Yeah. We're not antisocial we're just generally running around killing things and chatting so I forget to even look at the chat log half the time.

What's your character's name AnimeJ?

OK, here are my names: (I had overstated their levels in my post above.)

Urmin, Male Dwarven Champion, lvl 7
Arthilthien, Female Elven Hunter, lvl 8

Alrighty Mars, the server is saying your toons don't exist. Are you sure you are on Landy, only other thing I can think of is that you aren't out of the tutorial starting zone with either toon yet.

Mother Fletcher's Franks and Beans! I'm on the wrong world. At least it's early on in the game. Time to delete and re-role.

I'll let you know the names when I roll them up.

Is there a place in-game where I can "accept a clan invite," or whatever the verbage is? The kinship tab in the "Social" menu isn't helpful for such things...

Oh thank goodness. I tried adding you five times today.

New Elven Hunter Jinara, still in intro area.

Added to friends list, will look for you tomorrow.

If you have a lifetime sub you've likely been accumulating turbine points for the last several months. VIPs (including those with lifetime subs) get 500 turbine points per month. I haven't tried this myself, but you may be able to use points to switch a toon to a new server - worth looking into.

Right now i believe all server character transfers are cash only ($25) and they aren't allowing transfers to Landroval.

I believe you need to be online in order for an invite to a kin will go through.

Yeah, I can't invite you until we are both online (or another officer is online.) I've been trying to get online a little bit more, but I got distracted last night.

Ah, thanks, gents. Again, I haven't been exposed to many MMOs and, in STO, I think it comes through the mail system.

Speaking of which, after I completed the Introductory shenanigans, it told me I had mail. Took me a good 15 min to figure out how to actually check my mail, as I was doing it all within the GUI interface, looking in places like "Social" and "MyLOTRO."

Eventually, I turned around in the environment and found a mailbox. Me=Fail.

Is there a time that is best for me to try and log on? And can I add you as a "Friend" without you being online? CasualAlcoholic and I hooked up last night, but he added me and then I added them. Not sure if that was dependent on both of us being on, though.

I'll be on after 9:00 CST tonight, likely, and then maybe put some time in tomorrow night. I'll be shutting 'er down by 10:30 CST, though. Unless you plan on being on at a different time, in which case I can probably switch my schedule around. I don't really plan on hooking up with anyone immediately or anything, but it'd be nice to see who else from the Kinship is online at any given time. (i.e. I'm in no rush to get this done)

I looked at Rift and thought it looked like LOTRO with slightly higher rez.

Surely you mean "WoW" above? The last thing that Rift resembles is LotRO...

As someone who is not a big MMO player, I agree with the statement. The sad truth is that most MMOs today look almost identical, and play very similarly. The differences are only found when you get in depth with them; not from your first impression. Rift certainly doesn't break that mould, as good of an MMO as it might be.

I can usually be found on either Fachirgrod(60 Hunter) or Malhadui(mid 30s Warden). No worries though, I'm just chatty when it comes to MMOs.

Ugh. I was going to log on last night to try and get everyone in, except I fell asleep on the couch.

Tonight is (or it might be tomorrow, I can't remember) kin night, so there will be many officers online to send out invites.

I made it in, no thanks to your lazy ass. No worries from my end, at least! Though I will remember your lack of caring for all time.

Ok, now that you are in Eldain, the first lesson you must learn is to never let an opportunity to blame Psych for any and everything, pass you by, so with that in mind I fixed your quote.

Eldain? More like DISdain! I'll be here all week.

Is crafting worth the effort or is it just as easy to purchase good gear? I'm concerned about the time spent crafting vs. gear found questing. I don't want to spend a lot of time making stuff that I'll be able to find lying around or pay for by selling loot obtained while questing. (Wow, that's a sucky sentence.)

Just so we're clear, can I blame Psych for the ills of the world, my constant coughing, and Bryan Adams? ...'cause if so, then I think we're going to get along just swell.

Yes! Especially for Bryan Adams.

And welcome home.

Mars, crafting doesn't really pay off until the end game and even then it can be hit and miss. If you don't enjoy crafting you can safely skip it and not really suffer any major consequences. You might consider picking the gathering professions as you can always sell the low level mats on the AH pretty easily. Many people pick the Explorer(?) profession to start as it will let you pick up ore and wood and let you dabble at leather-working.

Who is Bryan Adams, and why is he my fault?

Psych wrote:

This is Bryan Adams. He is your fault for no good reason. I'm just told to blame things on you, and as I'm a rookie in the kinship, I do what I'm told.
