I've been watching a view MP videos. I am interested by the points system (although I have fears that they could facilitate a rout by one side), but the visuals ... does anyone think that the animations look bad? It seems to me like perhaps they're missing frames of animation for the soldiers' movements.

Still thinking about ordering. Filthy enablers.

when watching the MP videos i'm watching the reticules... didnt notice the animations

That's a funny joke.

Ordered on 360. Amazon's credit offer is now 15 dollars, btw.

Steam doesn't tell me it has pre-downloaded so it can get unlocked. Am I missing something?

It looks like there's no pre-load so Steam servers will be hammered tonight.

Ya lets hope its not like the MoH launch and its like 4 hours later before people could play.

It's pre-loading now. At least it is for me.

I'll be getting this on the 360.

Or maybe not. 5 hour campaign for a storyline billed as epic as it has been? Hmm...

Yep me too. 9.8 gigs wow.

I bought it for the MP. Many FPSes, I don't even play the SP anymore.

Thanks for the heads up!

Let's not act like length is a requirement for a well told epic. Plenty of movies accomplish the feat in two hours.

Not saying this will be, and I've never seen it billed as "epic." Just well told and original.

Still, yeah. I wouldn't buy a FPS for five hours of singleplayer either, not without multiplayer. Hi Bulletstorm! Thankfully, the few reviews that are out are praising the MP.

Understood. Maybe I haven't heard much about Homefront, but what little I picked up focused on the intensity of the SP campaign. In fact, I had assumed (wrongly, apparently) that this was primarily a SP game. It seems odd to have a very serious game that deals with the invasion and genocide of US citizens by a real, existing country and then to have a MP component. That seems.... off.

There are some MP videos out there; I watched a couple on gametrailers today. They show what looked like CoD's shooting and gun mechanics, with a Battlefield rush-like mode, with some new twists on how perks and bonuses work. With the Amazon deal on top of it ...

Servers must be getting hammered. I'm topping out at 130KB/s.

I started playing the single player and the camera feels weird, its like my guy is short.

Word. I doubt I'll even try the multiplayer, but I've heard good things about the maturity and dark themes, deaths being meaningful, etc, emotional story, etc. A FPS with good single-player content is becoming a rare animal, so I'm glad to give them the benefit for even trying. We'll see! And, the awesome Metro 2033 pre-order bonus is making me even less worried about my purchase, even if the Homefront campaign is short.

Then again, I usually triple or quadruple the average 'reviewer play time' - most recent example for me was Singularity; I think the average reviewer quoted 6-9 hours, and it took me over 25 hours (Steam reported 31 hours, but I allowed a few hours for the occasional ALT+TAB I did while playing.), Bioshock 2 took me 36 hours, and so, 5 hour campaign probably means 14-20 hour campaign considering my creeping-around, goggling at everything play-style, and that's fine by me.

It feels like I've been waiting for this game forever...I'm not a huge FPS guy but the very first trailer with Clinton and fake Kim Jung Un. It was brilliant! I think I'll be picking this game up for my PC. Found it for $43.99 at buy.com There's also a deal for console versions

Yeah, since when is the average American 4 foot 3 inches tall? I get that the camera is chest high for the game, but when you can't see over a barrier to shoot there's something seriously wrong.

Uuuuuuuuugh. That drove me crazy in Killzone 2 and 3. Running up to a dude with the view leveled and realizing that without aiming upward I'm staring into his chest just makes me feel like my guy's a midget or I'm running around on my knees or something. Totally bizarre.

IGN's review is up, and I take issue with it. Note that I watched the video review, didn't read the written one.

He praises the storytelling, atmosphere, feel, and multiplayer. The only negatives I heard were graphics not up to par with "Crysis 2 or Killzone 3," the campaign's length, and...I guess that it's a FPS? He said it tries nothing new for the genre. Personally I think having a good story is novel enough, but oh well.

Anyway, I was expecting an 8.5 based on what he said in the review, and he scored it a 7.

I guess graphics are pretty important to that guy. I also don't get harping on the campaign length. Maybe it's because it's supposed to be good? He said he was left wanting more. The last three CoD games can all be done in five hours, MoH in less. Eh.

Looking forward to playing when I ger home! I will be playing on the PC until 9:30 because Homer decided it was a good idea to have a TF2 scrim tonight...

The graphics arent on Crysis 2 level, but i like that. It makes things feel more scuffy? Not sure how to explain, but nice and shiney models would've felt off. Plus it helps performance. Biggest complaint really is not know what it takes to unlock things in MP. Some things are listed and give you a lvl you need. Others nothing. When its locked you cant even get info on the object. Map areas are very well done.

If you're talking about scopes and camos for weapons, those are unlocked by getting kills with the weapon. If you go to the service record, somewhere in there it will show each weapon and your current kill count and needed kill count for the next unlock.

Definitely tagging this baby. I want to know GWJ's reactions to the game. Can it dethrone DoD:S to me?
