So I finally watched this yesterday and wow am I impressed. Much better than I anticipated. I know it had some good reviews so I was expecting a enjoyable movie, but it was the first movie in wuite awhile to really exceed my expectations by so much. I was totally enthralled.
Are there any plans to do another movie with another of the books? I sure hope so.
Saw it in the theatre and absolutely like it. I''ll definitely pick up the DVD soon as well. Great atmosphere and acting.
I watched it again with my wife last night. It is a great (maybe even underrated?) movie.

Man, it must have been Master and Commander night, as my wife and I also watched it for the first time last night. Excellent film. I too would say it was a bit underrated.
Money can't buy you happiness...but it can buy you a boat big enough to sell right up next to it!-David Lee Roth
I watched it last night too.
You would think that they would do a sequel because the first movie was successful and the ship must just be sitting in a warehouse somewhere. The only thing I can think of to the contrary is that the plot of the first movie is a real polyglot of plot elements from many of the books, not just The Far Side of the World, and The Far Side of the World was a long way into the series. I would have liked to see them start with book one and chart Aubrey''s rise from Master and Commander to Captain to Post Captain.

I watched it last night too, weird. It was a lot better than I was expecting, I usually don''t go for ""entire film on a boat"" movies but this one did it for me.

I was a hair away from watching Master and Commander last night, then ended up playing Singles - Flirt Up Your Life on the PC instead.
I did not choose wisely.
What in the heck is that.... no wait don''t tell me.

It''s a rather boring Europeanrip-off of The Sims except with weekends and full frontal nudity.
So between The Sims and Singles. which one is the lesser of 2 weevils? Bwahahahah. I kill me..

HmmM What did you think about that Singles game?
I have been playing the Sims a little lately for the first time EVER... I actually hate to admit it
If you like The Sims, then you''ll probably like Singles. The focus of Singles is much narrower, however. It''s one couple (boy-girl, girl-girl, boy-boy) and one apartment. That''s pretty much the scope with the objective being to get them to fall for each other.
I''m generally not a big fan of any type of simulation game, there''s not enough action to keep me interested, so The Sims, Singles, etc. never stay on my play list for long. But I will generally fire them up for an hour or two when I need a break from the hack & slash RPGs I usually play.

No, no, Lucky Jack. Jack Sparrow is one bad ass, feminine mofo.

I need to rent this. I finally got around to watching ""A Beautiful Mind"" and (despite my feelings about Russell Crowe) was pretty impressed.
Alien13z: just noticed your new avatar. Sweet! I enjoy watching him rock-out to my MP3 collection.
My wife tends to lust after Russell Crowe (even though he''s a frikkin'' pansy wuss). She went into labor when she saw him in his tighty white T-shirt in ""A Beautiful Mind."" (No, literally, her water broke during that movie and we had our first son a few hours later). So I was pleasantly surprised that he was looking alittle more paunchy and a little less studly in ""Master & Commander"". I was worried that [Russell Crowe + movie entitled ''Master & Commander''] was a little more alpha-male than my wimpy ass could compete with.

Peter Weir, the director, has indicated that he doesn''t want to do a sequel. As Alien13z mentioned, however, they do have The Rose (the ship) in a warehouse, just waiting to go.
Just watched this last night. I thought it started out a little slow, but other than that I liked it a lot.
