Mortal Kombat - Katch All

I'm so all over this. I'm much more in the Street Fighter camp than MK, but the time I spent playing it at E3 and PAX last year (and PAX East this weekend, I hope) left me so unbelievably happy.

And that joystick! That thing's gorgeous.

Do we think there'll be much meat for people that don't want to play online?

Look up info on the challenge tower. I think Joystiq had a preview for it up recently. Too much work to find/link from my phone. I'm lazy.

The great thing about the most recent MKs were their SP breadth. Really important last gen when online play was a luxury.

I caught the first 10 minutes of the quick play on GB. It looks about the same speed at MK2 but with a looser combo system.

I'm far more intrigued than I was, I can say that.

Did I just see Chicago getting torn apart by a Rancor as a level?

Lemme guess: End Game is a single battle against every character in the game?

So far I've beat it with every character on hard, and am going to attempt expert. Getting the hang of the characters is easy, but I am nowhere NEAR the skill level of some of the people playing on the videos. Wow.

Sinatar, you need to start up a Xbox Live Mortal Kombat group. OR do we still have the Fight Club?

I think the fight club tag is still around.

I like the way this looks. Characters seem to move well, and the combo system looks pretty approachable.

I am interested in this if only for the ability to play with some friends and have a few good evenings yelling at each other in the same room.

I was worried there wouldn't be much room for combo experimentation. Then I saw THIS.

Most of those combos are actually the result of some kind of bug. The demo is an old build and one of the devs said on a forum that they have been removed in the final. That's not to say that there isn't lots of combo potential, but I don't think you're supposed to be able to string together that many teleports.

It's a combination stealth/escort mission that segues into a Contra-style bullet-hell platformer section with one-hit deaths that plays like Sub-Zero Mythologies before you have to battle every character twice with randomly inverting controls and you have to perform a Fatality on every character both times or they get all their health back.

Then you can play as Girl Reptile.

Finish him
No I will give him mercy. No I will make him a baby and care for him. No I will give him a present and we will be friends. No I will turn into a animal and eat him, wait that would be finishing him. ummm I'm going to go home and think about this. Oh crap he died on me.

Then you can play as Jigglypuff.

Fixed that for you.

Day 1 perch.

Playing as Jigglypuff would be seriously awesome.

So in the vein of Marvel vs. Capcom, we're all awaiting MK vs. SSBB?

I'm thinking I'll get this one for my wife. She was a big fan back in the Sega Genesis days and even if we just play it to smack each other around it looks like it's a fun throw back. Besides, if you can't be beheaded and betorsoed by your loved ones, then what's the point?

Nothing says 'I love you' like letting her rip your spine out.

Quick heads up, the PS3 demo is now available to everyone, not just PS+ owners.

Grats! Downloading now.

This game is a lot like watching a shark eat a seal. It's vicious, brutal and really quite disturbing... but you just can't help but watch with a certain level of intrigue.

Kratos Gameplay (QTE: Fatality only)

That was awesome. His fatalities are gonna be insane...

I keep wondering who from 360 could be an exclusive to the system, but I can't think of anything better than WAR from Darksiders...

I didn't realized they were going to do exclusives until I saw that Kratos footage. Maybe the Arbiter from Halo? Or anything from Gears of War?

Awesome footage. I love the fact that they threw a QTE move in there.

I think if there were going to be an exclusive 360 character, it would have already been announced. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I was thinking General RAAM, I think that's his name from Gears 1.

Agent Francis York Morgan from Deadly Premonition!

Or, yeah, someone from Gears of War would be good, too. Chainsaw gun equals good Fatality.

The full roster screen was leaked. Looks pretty good! I won't delve into "spoiler" territory except to say that Raiden's going back in time definitely changes a few key plot points, particularly regarding the sub-zero and smoke connection with the Lin-Kuei. Man, how do I even know this stuff? Is it weird that I could tell you character relationships for a fighting game?
