Bulletstorm Catch-All

Yeah, like SuperDave said. When I get into Blood Symphony, I try to be around a large crew of folks I can start kicking in every direction. Seems to work out well. I'm going to look out for you online, imbiginjapan, because I can't seem to get any further than wave 12 with pubbies. They inevitably start quarreling and doing weird blowjob animations on each other. It sucks.

Sounds like a plan. I think we managed to hit wave 13 and it seems like the point cap jumps up dramatically around wave 12.

SallyNasty wrote:

How many people are in the multiplayer? is it 4 person?

Yes, 4 person play. I think getting to the highest levels requires that everyone have a decent headset, lack of selfishness and some tolerance for failure. Individual skill actually has less importance than being able to play as a team. In that way it's kind of like Left 4 Dead, which was my online game of choice for a long long time. That's not to say Bulletstorm's online mode has the depth of L4D, but having fun does require some of the same traits.

I am going to pick it up tonight after work or tomorrow morning, so invite away goodjers!

*Edit* I picked it up, so yah!

Tagged. Those videos on the previous page were great.

Pet peeve about this game: there is no way to tell what skillshots you have completed outside of the main campaign, and even then it isn't accurate if you go back and play a level. I got the achievement for 75% of skillshots during an Echo map, so at least I know they carry through at least both the campaign and Echo mode, but I don't know which 25% I have left. Very annoying.

If it has a green question mark next to it, you still have not accomplished it yet. Red question mark means it hasn't been unlocked yet (haven't bought the weapon yet, or haven't gotten to an area with specific environmental pieces). A green check mark indicates shots you have accomplished in your current session. Entries with no mark in the left margin mean they have been completed.

More info here.

From what I've read, skill shots carry over between Echos and the single player campaign.

Just a heads up: Amazon has this on sale for $40 360/PS3/PC(non-digital).

I hope that is not the epic version, as I just picked that up at gamestop over the weekend. Damn!

Hey all - I am looking for a couple people to do some anarchy with this weekend - probably both friday and saturday. I will be on around 9-930 until late both nights. Any takers?

Count me in for Friday night.

I don't know if you are trying to disprove my point, but my original claim still stands. I've already beaten the game so there shouldn't be any that are locked. I just want to see all the skillshots I haven't done yet throughout all my campaign and echo sessions. You'd think that since the game centers around that mechanic, they would let you see that kind of info.

Too bad I'll be nerding it up at PAX East this weekend. I need another chance to play Anarchy mode.

I am sure we will be down the next weekend, too. Have fun at PAX!

So I am playing on Very Hard - and am I just sh*tty at this game or is it really hard? Fun, no doubt about it, but this game is not having much mercy on me yet. Does your character upgrade at all? I have only done the prologue and the first act so far, and the first act had some pretty hard parts. I am going to slog through and earn my very hard, but I was sort of not expecting such a challenge:) Maybe this is my penance for my 1k in Avatar...

I did my initial run on very hard, and other than some scripted stuff where you just get a raw deal occasionally, it wasn't too bad. As you unlock newer weapons you options do open up a bit.

My biggest problem was concentrating too much on trying to get specific skillshots and dying as result of that. You can go back later and fill in missed shots, but I was a little obsessive with them. Enjoyed it though.

I think that is what my issue is as well - I keep going out and trying for the skillshots rather than focusing on staying alive. Also, I am playing very run and gun and not utilizing cover. I should do better with that.

I finished the campaign on Hard and found cover to be very important. If the text cue on screen says "take cover" do it. If you get caught in the open and/or get surrounded the best thing I found to do is to slide around like a maniac until you can get clear. You also have to be rather patient at times, which is sort of difficult at first since the atmosphere seems frenetic and over the top. Like sithcundman said there are only a couple "WTF" moments where the game seems to 'shaft' you (there is a pun there, considering one of the moments I found teeth-gnashingly frustrating, but for the sake of spoilers I'll say no more).

In terms of the skill shots, it's good to keep an eye on what can be accomplished but don't go all out for one at the expense of other opportunities. There are plenty of chances out there.
As far as advancement, it only comes in the form of new weapons and upgrades which get doled out very sparingly. It was a bit annoying how long it took to get new weapons and charge shots at times. To me it feels like the game needed two more weapons to round things out and allow them to be given out at a faster pace. I would have liked to see some kind of melee weapon and some kind of ground effect weapon, like napalm thrower or something... grease up the ground, strike a match, boom.

I wasn't trying to disprove you're point, I was merely pointing out the game's mechanic for showing you which skill shots you have completed and which you have not. Which is what your original post was about, no?

Your pet peeve was that there is no way to tell which shots you have completed, and I answered with the way the game shows you - in the skill shot menu - which you have completed, which you haven't and which ones you need to unlock. You can also filter the shot menu to show only the ones you HAVE NOT completed. (press 'Y' if I recall correctly) So to see the 25% you have left, go into the skill shot menu, press 'Y' and look for the shots that still have a red check mark next to them. It's not the most elegant system, but it gets the job done.

And theoretically, no, not all shots will unlock once you complete the game. Many of them are dependent on buying weapons and unlocking their charged shots. So if one hasn't purchased every weapon, you could have a whole section of shots that are still locked. There is also a 'mystery' section of shots (farthest right category in the menu) that only show up when you complete them. The link I provided goes to x360a.org which has a complete list of all the skill shots in the game.

If you're complaint is that you can't access the skill shots from the main menu, then yes, you are correct. You can only see the skill shot menu from in-game. And I agree with you on that, it would be nice to have the skill shot menu available from the main menu without having to fire up a game session.

Filthy skimmer who's getting the game soon here. One question:

How does Gears of War 3 Beta work? I know you need the disc to access it, but is it also tied to a one use per game code? I ask because I have no interest in the beta and would like to sell Bulletstorm on ebay etc. with the added provision that it includes GOW3 beta access and would like to know if I have to avoid activating a code in Bulletstorm or playing the game online or anything.

You have to activate an in-box code to play MP, yep. I don't know whether this is tied to the Gears 3 beta or not, but I suspect as such.

Not sure how the Gears 3 beta is going to work -- there's a menu option within Bulletstorm that says 'Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Beta' or something like that, but it's not accessible yet.

Reread what I originally said. If you go back and play a level, the list isn't accurate. It only shows you what you have completed up until that point in the campaign (it doesn't include the ones you have only done in Echo mode). The most complete list you can get, which still isn't complete because of the whole echo mode thing, is the one you get by going to the last chapter, rebuying all the guns and re-unlocking all the charge shots, and then going to that menu. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that when you replay a chapter, instead of starting you out with what you had at that point in the game, you just get refunded all of your skillshot points and have to rebuy everything. So there's that, too.

Also, by saying, "you said there is no way to do this, so I showed you how to do it" sounds like you are kinda trying to disprove my point.

Played for a while last night and very hard is seeming much more doable now that I have some more weapons and ammo. This game is really pretty, by the way. I am glad i let myself be enabled and am looking forward to trying out anarchy this weekend.

Still looking for one more tonight for some sassy Bulletstorm action! Starting around 9 central until whenever.

If you are still needing another, I can be on around 9 central.

gamertag - obirano

Had a great time playing anarchy with Clem and Obirano last night. I am definitely in for more tonight if anyone else is interested. Anarchy is definitely not just tacked on multiplayer.

I may be on this evening again.

I'm back online and up for some Anarchal Antics.

Yep, Anarchy is way more fun with people who actually use their mics.

I am not sure about Friday night, as I am having people over for some late St. Pat's revelry, but definitely am up for Saturday night. Any takers?

Heyooo!

Played a little bit with Nel over the weekend - we need a full goodjer 4-some to rock this game! Anyone want to commit to some goodjer anarchy action for friday/saturday night?
