NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

*sigh*

There will always be a great imitator out there, *points to the Back to the Future game*, but there's no denying Hammil's talent in this area. Yeah, really great trailer. Too bad the show didn't live up to that nice beginning reveal.

I dunno, I'm thinking about the non-Hamill animated Jokers I've heard (Kevin Michael Richardson in The Batman, John DiMaggio in Under the Red Hood) and they didn't even try for a Hamill imitation. Not that I blame them, you understand; better their own take on the character even if it's not quite as good to a poor imitation that will look all the worse by comparison. Still, it's entirely possible that we'll never hear another Joker quite like Hamill's.

I don't know about yourself, but I'm still pretty young. And, assuming I die naturally in my old age (or live forever!) I'd bet the chances of a Hammil sound-a-like, disregarding quality, from DC is 100%. Nostalgia, homage, callback, profit. Take your pick.

After much speculation in this thread, it appears it was all for naught.

Not sure how I feel about this, but glad that the decision was made so as not to detract from the level of finish they were aiming for in the single player experience.

Today's Steam Sale made me crack. Finally bought it.

Occasionally running into a few strange control glitches. Nothing overly major but definitely annoying.

Edit: I had no idea which thread I was posting in. Didn't even realize there was a sequel in the works. Cool!

So, that's it then. There will be no co-operative, no local and no online multiplayer of any description. Batman: Arkham City will remain a resolutely single-player game, a la Arkham Asylum. If it helps Rocksteady deliver a better sequel, then we're all for it.

WOO HOO!!!

I really like the idea that Batman thinks he's a loner but isn't. That said, I don't think that co-op would really help a game like this.

Arkham Asylum really struck a great tone for me - the first time you play it, it's not scary, but being alone in the Asylum created the absolutely perfect atmosphere of creepy horror. I mean, I'm Batman, but it doesn't mean that the screaming inmates, dark vents, and crazy monsters have to be comfortable for me.

I'm open to changes, but I think that keeping the tone that you're alone in this keeps the focus on you being the superhero.

More details. This particular article really focuses on the feel of the game, and I think conveys the overall atmosphere of the title quite effectively.

I'm going to have to stop at this point. I don't want to read any more about who's in it, and what they do. I know fall is a long way off, but I think it's time for me to put on the game blinkers and apply radio silence fo rthe rest of the game details.

Uless Rocksteady drop the ball in the near future, this looks like it is going to be all kinds of awesome.

Yea, I'm right there with you. I've got to the point where I kinda know a little bit about this but I'm resisting like crazy and not clicking on links for info. I'm going into media blackout and don't want to spoil the experience for myself.

See you all on the flip side!

I'm playing Arkham Asylum now. Needless to say, I'm fairly excited for the sequel.

One of the best games I played last year. So sad that it took so long to get it off the pile and into my console.

I've just checked the release date on the game :(. I was presuming that it would be out in the next couple of months. I want them to take the time to make it a stellar game and everything but October seems too far away.

Oct 18th for North America, 21st in the UK

Oooh.

First gameplay trailer is up.

The scope of the outdoor environments is damn impressive. I thought the music choice was odd at first, but it quickly grew on me.

Spoiler:

Mark Hamill is back as The Joker!

Great trailer!

That was cool; now I want to play it even more. Also, totally agreed on the music choice.

Not a spoiler. It's been announced that this is his last appearance in the role.

Wow

Looking good. I especially liked the very end of the trailer.

Oh, I must have got it mixed up. For some reason I could swear he was quoted as saying Arkham Asylum was his last time voicing the character.

He's done at least one episode of Robot Chicken since then.

I think that counts.

If anyone's curious, that song is "Short Change Hero" by The Heavy. The full song is great.

Also really looking forward to this. AA was one of the few games I have a platinum trophy for.

Wow, I love that trailer. Even though it has some animation weirdness from being in-game, it still totally sets the mood for the game.

Spoiler:

Catwoman as the partner/love interest! Awesome! And she's wearing one of my favorite Catwoman costumes, based on the Ed Brubaker/Darwyn Cooke Catwoman comics.

I checked IMDB to see who was voicing

Spoiler:

Catwoman,

but it didn't have anyone listed. She sounded quite a bit like the voice from the animated series. That would be rad. At any rate it's close.

Yea, I noticed the animation jumpiness too... but still going to be one great ride. Even though I'm trying not to watch this stuff as I want a spoiler free experience. But damn the parts where you take out two guys at once look really awesome!

That would be Adrienne Barbeau, who according to IMDB was in the first AA as "Dr. Gretchen Whistler," so it seems pretty likely that they'd be able to get her back to reprise her role as Catwoman / Selina Kyle.

Failing that, perhaps they could get some kind of robotic duplicate of Adrienne Barbeau to play the role. An Adrienne Barbeaubot, if you will.

Be ready to turn to this Barbeaubot of which you speak. The real Adrienne Barbeau might not be able to free herself from her duties as Queen of the Red Planet Mars.

And there go my nipples again.

I'm pretty sure that the voice is...

Spoiler:

...Grey DeLisle, voice of Viconia DeVir in Baldur's Gate, the Handmaiden in KOTOR2, and that evil Asari business lady from Mass Effect 1 and 2.

I'm sure it's been said around here before, but I hate retailer-specific pre-order bonuses. "Joker's Carnival Challenge Map" sounds fun, but I refuse to give my money to GameStop. I bet that bonus will eventually be available to everyone after release, but of course you'll have to buy it.
