Official Team Fortress 2 Game Nights (PC)

Thanks Mojo, we can give it a test run tonight with a few people. Los Angeles isn't very centrally located though so I worry what the pings will be for east coasters.

It'll be somewhere in the 100 ms range or more.

I realize it's not east coast, but I've been getting 80ms pings usually, which isn't horrible. If they are worse, or it just sucks, so be it.

It's an [email protected] with 2GB RAM.

We sure have come a long way with regards to the password from the days of managing an email list to distribute it

The email list was fun though. And the passwords had a theme!

There is a new private for Friday night. It is a stock install. No sourcemod, no maps, no...well anything. If that doesn't work then I think the only other option is a faster (500fps) server. So for Friday there will be no voting. No mandatory taunting. And no custom maps. You'll all get plain old vanilla TF2 and you'll like it.

8.6.76.234:27015

Current password is private but it should be (radio edit) by tomorrow if I can get the config updated (currently having trouble with the GS web config update and can't seem to find it via FTP).

Password removed. Psych, can you remove it from your quote. We probably should change it but I don't believe we've had much in the way of people on who should not be. Well, maybe except that _free_ guy who probably won't be back after Cheeba whined half the night about stickying spawns. I still maintain that it was a spawn camp (singular) and not camping.

(Yeah, carrotpanic, I know he posts here. Just trying to find ways to take jabs at Cheeba.)

Cheeba can get a tad cranky. Not sayin', just sayin'.

If he didn't try to defend stickying the respawn in a 4v4 on koth_harvest with that lame wow-kiddie "QQ" bullcrap, I woulda whined a lot less :).

And I love that he quit after I killed him a few times in a row and he was 1 death from being dominated. Pop Pop!

What?

We should change the password to reflect the winners of the tournament.

I say if the people of the gwj server insist on "no-cap" playing, it's no rules time. Also, is there anyone concerned about getting dominated in TF2? Really?

I am. Maybe not on a 4v4 harvest map but in normal play, yes. I don't like someone else dominating me any time I'm playing 'serious'. I'm not going to take it to an extreme to remove the domination but I may switch to heavy. Okay, I did that last night when Eric got a domination on me. So, yeah, even in 4v4 messing around I don't like having the dominated tag.

Also, I'm not a big fan of the no-cap thing. Once we get even 4v4 I'd like to move on to another map. Often times it works against you as people get tired of the same map for half an hour.

Well, I stand corrected.

I'm also a noted opponent of "no-cap," especially on koth maps which work fine for low numbers of people (concentrates the action, gives purpose).

hearing you rage after that is priceless though

+1

TF2 DRAMA!

Been too long.

If we get to 8v8 on KOTH and nobody's capping, I usually make some comment about how Brainz is such a jerk and just start capping anyway.

Re: dominations, it depends entirely who is dominating me. I mean, getting dominated is going to happen during normal play, and many of them I don't notice. And then sometimes it's ukick or Mex, and their crimes against humanity must be avenged.

Apparently he was as he picked that moment right before I dominated him to quit, lol.

As for no rules, there aren't any, really, other than not capping. I mean no one was kicking the guy. I was just Female Doggoing at him. If it's a 4v4 and we're screwing around, having fun deathmatching, then don't f'n sticky the respawn. That's called "not fun." I woulda stopped Female Doggoing at him immediately if he had said, "sorry" or "k, won't sticky respawn" or hell, if he just hadn't said anything. Actually I am sorry I Female Doggoed so much, I didn't mean to. But yeah, telling me "QQ" like some WoW brat probably got under my skin a little :).

Psych is a jerk. This is his fault, and you can't prove me wrong.

QQ.

jk, honestly I just had some stray stickies near the base - not even that close, they were at least 15 steps from the right door - and I blew 'em up when I saw someone. Next time, go left.

Also, it was only one death. Hardly a spawn camp, more like a brief spawn sojourn.

And I left because I'm a gamer, with a job (and a baby) and if I don't get to bed before 11, I'm useless the next day. I could care less about being dominated - in fact, that would be more likely to make me stay so I could get revenge. But in a silly 4v4 on Harvest, I don't care at all.

<3 you, cheeba. Take a lesson from you name and smoke a bowl and chill out.

Oh bullsh*t, don't lie now, that's gonna actually piss me off rather than just put me in Female Doggo mode. I've been playing long enough to know the difference between exploding as soon as the respawn door opens and going 15 steps. It's obvious by your reaction then and now that I'm gonna get nowhere by arguing this further, so I'll let it go.

Did you guys know you get free items every few duels?

I'm gonna be slapping people in the face with my white glove more often now

It's every 10 wins.

Alright, if we're going to say there's no rules then it applies to kicking as well. If you kill me while I'm walking out of the spawn door, I'll kick you so you can go play on an instant-respawn server where you clearly want to be if you're going to resort to spawn camping.

Also, friend of yours or not telling somebody to "QQ" when they call him on spawn camping is a dick move and he rightfully should have been kicked for that.

A lot of times, especially in a KOTH map, your path of attack can take you all the way to spawn. It happens to everyone from time to time, more so if there are low numbers. I feel that if you are taken to spawn and get a kill, alright, there you go. If you wait around to kill that person again, then it is starting become bad form. If I get killed once coming out of spawn I am annoyed, but understand that it happens (doesn't mean I won't immediately Female Doggo though.) Twice, I am frustrated. Three times and I am ready to not play that map/game anymore.

There are certain maps which make it much easier than others to camp someone's spawn (Dustbowl Part 2, final point). This will happen, quite a bit. But as long as the rest of your team is working towards the objective I won't complain too much. I know I have gotten bent out of shape when I perceived a few players to be attacking spawn instead of working towards the map's objectives.

Really, we have a TON of 'unspoken' rules on Stan's that we have all agreed upon at some point for various reasons. Most exist under the guise of creating a friendly, fair environment. Often our protests against those not following these rules can make us seem rude and elitist. This happens when you play a game with the same basic core group of players for multiple years. I don't mean to be a rude elitist snob, but I am sure I do come off seeming like one from time to time. The internet is full of jerks, and I would rather they stay out of our game. If this makes me a jerk, than I am sorry. I will work on it.

EDIT: What the hell does QQ mean? NM, Wembley just PMed me. You guys are nerds.

The no douchebag rule is always in effect. It covers all the lame pubby tricks that are the reasons we have a passworded server and 20 admins. Like hacking, porn sprays, saying inappropriate things because their moms aren't home, and spawn camping.

We have never allowed spawn camping, and 7 or 8 people having fun playing "no cap" doesn't make it no rules time.

EDIT: forgot my quote

I only said "QQ" after he went on and on for literally more than 3 minutes. That justifies a "QQ" in my book.

Also, baby was sleeping so I couldn't talk on the mic. Had to resort to "lame wow-kiddie" speak.

Most of us know how to read.
