So is there a game tonight? Do we need to try to get a regular game going on the private?

(Also, what's the post-colon IP for the private? 27015 or 27016?)

I think if you just don't include the port number and click the "find games at this address" button it'll sort that out automatically.

At this point, I don't even bother entering in the information. There's enough people floating around on my friendslist that I just join that game.

This is how smart and attractive people do it.

For those of us that are less smart or attractive, I used 27015 when I added the server and that worked for me.

I'm about to give up on duels period. Results of my last dueling minigame:

*Draw
*Draw
*Opponent spends more than half the round sniping from spawn - loss
*Draw

So I'm 0-1-3 at this point. It would be nice to get one win out of this stupid thing.

*Challenge pubby, he refuses
*Challenge pubby, he refuses
*Get fed up, what the hell, I'll challenge Mex: lose badly

Stupid dueling minigame. Bleh.

Feel free to challenge me. I've never won one either.

I too, have never won a duel.

It looks like I won't be able to play for the next couple of days as I prepare the second chapter of my thesis. Your heads can rest easy. For now...

You should just shoot him in the head. That's what I do.

He should name his axe the Fxtinguisher

You, sir, have no idea of the sniper skill I posess. I would not want to unleash that terror upon the server.

Spoiler:

The terror is how useless my sniping actually is to my own team.

Actually, I was the one that suggested it. I fully realize that my username is a bit on the difficult side to pronounce (if only because it's origin is me randomly tapping the keyboard over 10 years ago :P), so I try to make it easier for people if I can.

I like to just refer to him as Fx as he burns my cloaked body to the ground, screaming and ashamed.

I'm in Homer's camp. The other night I took like 5 shots in a row as a sniper and didn't hit anything. Not even a body shot. Anyone speccing me would probably burst into laughter. Or maybe tears.

EDIT: Why is it I can consistently lead moving targets as a soldier, where there's an actual projectile involved, but not as a sniper? So weird.

I call him "damn easy button."

I will always call him "fix-any."

Or whatever curse words come to mind.

On dueling, I don't like them. Mostly because it actually makes me pay attention to who I am killing, which I usually don't do. The only time I notice someone is kicking my ass is when they start dominating me, but having the constant reminder usually ends up with me changing how I play, and getting more frustrated.

That having been said, I have gotten two duel games to drop recently, and want to use them. Perhaps if I duel more I will stop getting bent out of shape by them.

Back when I played a lot of L4D, I called him Feh-zee-ni. I think I enjoyed saying it more than he enjoyed hearing it.

So along the lines of sniping, I feel like there's a weird lag to my computer. It might just be showing it's age (it was a mid line like 3 years ago), but I can't really aim at the target directly. For some reason it needs to lead the target a bit. Could be related to the hitbox/lag detection. I don't feel it with other weapons, except the shortstop. Maybe because I haven't see the shortstops default reticule, but it always feels like I miss even if my cursor is over the target.

Also Fxeni, I say "ph-en-ee". The 'x' is silent. But I'd be down for calling him fx (eph-ecks).

You think that's bad?

I've never won a duel, and I lost one to Fedora.

For some stupid reason, I decided to play around with the sniper rifle last night. I had multiple occasions where my little pink dot was sitting directly on someone non-moving head and it didn't hit. Really frustrating. I think I'll stick with the huntsman.

I pronounce his name 'fex-any'

I'm not a big fan of dueling for the same reason that I don't tend to pay much attention to who I'm fighting. Well, okay, that's not entirely true--I make "fight or flight" decisions based on who is shooting at me.

I've done two duels thus far. One where I was challenged by some random pubby after I had just joined and had no points at the end of a round. The next was when Cheeba was dominating me so I challenged him. He switched from spy to heavy while I switched from heavy to pyro. He won. I'd like to duel more but I don't feel like it's a fair fight when I play medic/heavy most of the time.

Yep, it happens. Also a tip when using the sniper rifle, especially when it's lagging: if the target is moving, aim behind his head because the hit box often lags behind the actual graphic.

Yeah, a lot of the time I don't want to duel because it seems silly. If I decide to snipe, then I think it would be fun to duel the other sniper, but I would rather have it last the entire map, not the entire round. If I am heavy or medic, then challenging the other team's heavy or medic would be fun. But some match ups just seem unfair, with obvious results.

I only like duels because you get a random item after every 10 wins.

It's not a crate, is it? Random item= good. Crate = a waste of $2.49. I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting a great item from a crate and I can get 2.5 lottery tickets for the cost of a crate. (I don't buy lottery tickets, either.)

I don't think it drops crates. It's always been a weapon for me. According to the guy that had 13337 wins, you can get hats from it.

Well actually you have a better chance of getting a specific unusual than winning a multi state lottery.

Yeah right! That is a LONG way aways.

Somehow I have 5 wins and my badge says I have a record of 33%.
That sounds better than the truth.
* One win my opponent left the server (we were tied).
* One win my opponent got disconnected by a Steam problem.
* One win when I shot a crit rocket at someone else and my opponent came around the corner into the splash. That was the winning point.
* Two close battles with Strewth that easily could have gone his way.
* Approximately 5 ties and 5 losses too.
