*Release* Rift Warrior Discussion

Are you a Holy Warrior with a righteous cause, a dark and brooding disease dispensing harbinger of doom, a dual wielding Cuisinart or just think to yourself "Mongo like smash things"? If you like to wear heavy armor and swing large sharp objects than welcome to the Warrior thread.

I really enjoyed playing a Champion/Paladin/? to level 17. Bull Rush and Kick are ridiculously fun. Then there's that shield bash thing that sounds so sweet. Paladin makes death come slower, which means more fun.

Can anyone recommend a good third soul for this pair? I tried Riftblade at first but ended up putting in only two points.

Later I tried Void Knight, but I couldn't figure out how many pacts I had on me at any given time. I'm afraid keeping track of attack points and pacts might be just a bit too much for my puny little brain.

HULK SMASH.

Reaver works nice with that pair. Put enough points in so that your dots spread to other mobs and your ranged plague dot heals you for 50% of the damage. When that spreads to multiple mobs it's awesome self healing goodness. I like Riftblade, Reaver, and either Beastmaster or Champion. The Riftblades first finisher is awesome and stacks with any attack - I like to use it combined with my Reavers soul sickness and most mobs are almost dead by the time they get to you. Beast master is a nice zero pt ability with the pet, but Champion can bring some nice AoE and crowd control.

Well, I've heard an unconfirmed rumor that VKs get a new {NDA} that displays their {NDA} under your {NDA} in a little window separate from the {NDA} area, and that helps a lot.

If we lived closer I'd drive to your house and slap you.

What he is saying is pacts now show up on your player portrait. Along with convictions, etc......

Not really a big deal for that little bit of NDA. Devs have publicly stated on the alpha servers that the NDA on alpha is pretty much over and really only applies to mechanics that havent been talked about really. small little UI changes arent much of anything.

Though talking about the multiple incoming class ner..... *cough cough* That might be a bit much.

Yeah .... that one's bad enough to make you want to yell:

"INCOMING!!!"

The latest alpha patch notes are all over the interwebs and most people know that Warriors are getting some damage reduction and that there is some tweaks to things like Rain of Arrows etc... These aren't nerfs, these are game tweaks and features to enhance your enjoyment of the game

I don't care if the latest alpha patch notes are on billboards along the roadside, they won't be publically posted by me.

*Slap* lighten up Francis, no one was asking you to do so. I was indicating that while we were talking around an Alpha NDA (moot in a little over a day and half) as if it were a highly protected war plan the notes are all over the place to include QQ'ing on the Rift forums. Therefore anyone interested in these changes could google their little hearts out to discover what these changes are regardless of the fact that they will not be the first or last changes that Trion will make to this game nor will angst or discontent with said changes impact the eventual outcome.

HULK SMASH!

Or is it.. hulk. power fading.

Yeah, I know -- it's more a statement of general angst at how much the NDA is being ignored vs. any perceived personal injustice. I know it's hardly an issue of national security or anything, but darn it, it's still confidential. I haven't seen a note from the devs stating they're basically cool with it, but I also haven't seen the devs complain or ask folks to back off either ... so I don't know what's going on. If screenshots are ok now so long as they don't violate or show any mechanics tweaks, that's cool too. Hell, I don't know what's going on anymore. But I'm still not going to publically post patch notes, and I disagree on principle to those who do take it public - as far as I've been told they're still under NDA.

Tagging this now so i can't find it when i roll my warrior alt

Paladin/Reaver/Void Knight

This is roughly what I had at the end of beta. It looked promising. I'd probably recreate it, and see if it plays out as hoped over the next 4 levels or so.

Durable, damaging and some good taunt abilities, seemed like it would tank well. Between the Reaver's Soul Feast, and the Paladin's Touch of Life, it kept me up and running while soloing. I could solo most equal level elites IF Touch of Life was off cooldown and I could solo-pull them.

The Void Knight was a soul I quested for, I tried working in the Warlord as the third soul, but wasn't happy with it. I think I could get some decent anti-magic defenses out of the VK.

Pallie / Reaver / Void Knight is one of the end-game raid-tanking specs.

Pallie / Reaver / Warlord used to be very popular as well .... prior to "the incident".

/mourn Warlord

Warriors dont get too bad a nerf sans warlords and riftblades (the previous patch the removed the DoTs from spears and this one greatly reduces dps for a vaery usful skills)

If you play a ranged rogue though... ouchie.

Sorry for all the noob questions, but i didnt have chance to play all the classes over again and forgot which ones did what.

Which warrior dual wields and what are some high dmg builds for them?

Paragon is the Dual Wield. If you are looking for High DPS I would recomend Paragon/RiftBlade/Beastmaster (Pet is 0 point and puts out a fair bit of dps)

I never liked a main paragon build myself, I would recommend maining riftblade to 51, dropping 16 into Paragon for passive dps increase and leaving BM 0 point just for the pet.

Pet tops out at 35 without some points heavily invested into BM though, so at lvl 50, a 0 point BM build is essentially useless.

Although, it would probably still edge out Warlord.

Really I prefer 2 soul builds over 3 soul mixes so I dont pay much attention to the third beyond any possible 0 point stuff.

For DPS, I recommend paragon/riftblade/reaver. Just a few points in reaver is nice for the AoE leech-dot.

How does this DPS compare against a rogue?

Probably close and with rift blades spear and fiery burst coupled with Reavers soul sickness it is probably dead by the time it gets to you. Now add the reaver dot spread with the self heal you probably are doing more because you are AOE as well.

Stupid triple post.

She loves me
She loves me not
She loves me!

Stupid double post.

I loved playing the Reaver class in the beta but tried to keep myself from leveling too much as a Warrior since I knew that would be my main.

I'm thinking for a leveling class, Champion/Reaver/Beastmaster. Personally I'd love to be a bit more tankish while leveling up but I can't stand the slowness of sword and board when I'm soloing so 2handed it is. Leveling build first, then I'll do my 2nd spec as a pure tank for big rifts and instances.

Everybody is speaking of the poor Warlord nerf, I love the idea of the class but is it just too weak to be viable right now? The idea of a Reaver/Paladin/Warlord sounds sweet to me.

My personal advice for leveling builds is as follows ...

I ended the beta with an experimental Reaver, Riftblade build - loved it. Cant wait for tomorrow.
