Tagging for interest. Would love to make it if I can.
It is a 12.5 hour drive for me, but I would be going through Madison, Chicago and Indianapolis on my way from Minneapolis. I could acquire a vehicle that seats 7 for a long weekend. If peeps would be interested in carpooling, let me know.
Edit:
Do people bring their SOs to this event? If Cheeto brings Jake, I'll bring Mich. They could commiserate together

SOs would be perfectly welcome, I think...provided they know what they're getting into.
Yes. I cannot be held responsible for bored SOs.
If there are people around she won't be bored.
You guys would need more of a disclaimer than I'd ever need to give her.
I'd love to come back to this! I'll have to see how my wife's wedding and event schedules shake out though so I wont be able to commit till much later in the year.
If I can come back though, hells to the yeah!
I'm trying to find the put down in there?? Not intended.
Michelle is cRaZy! She's the party girl our son converted into a housewife :). There's a pretty good chance that if I didn't politely request her to reign it in she'd be the first to remove her pants.
Here it is on page 3, so you can't say I didn't warn you:
Don't let her corner you after she's had a few. She WILL scar you.

This is acceptable.
The disclaimer stands though, if only for SOs who don't intend to join Penguin in taking their pants off.
Oh, nother suggestion. Game swap? I cannot be the only guy with tubs and cabinets full of games looking to move em around. I would be ecstatic to just give away this crate of older PC titles.
Lastly, general interest in a card tourney-I can teach yall Euchre. But I only have enough chips for about a 6 person game.

Something like this is a great idea.

Says the person who owns no games.
That hardly makes it a bad idea.
Only suggestion I have is fewer folks attached to consoles, and more board gaming. I'm not against console games, per se, but I would rather not wait until 2 AM again to play BSG.
Here is what I was thinking for the Poker tourney. Buy in would be a charitable donation-Child's Play or Extra Life, and maybe we can work out a prize package for top 3 players.
So as I'm a maybe, and this is dependent on several conditions like not finding a better job and being able to go, take this with a grain of salt, but I may have a case or two of redbull along with my if I come.
I suggest super gluing the buttons down on your Guitars and Arcade sticks.
Or for the PCs, swap mouse buttons to leftie, and then administrator lock control panel.
I figure with the latter we would then have a true life murder mystery game.
Maybe we should do something like a Con registration? So, say I assign myself as a host for "Room 1" as the Rock Band 3 room from 8PM - 10PM. To sign up and reserve a spot, a person must donate $2 to Child's Play. In the case of Rock Band, we need to allow bands to sign up in advance or throw people together randomly.
If you're not there within 5 minutes of the room starting, you forfeit your spot (new person is in for free), your name is public ridiculed as a forgetful gamer and we politely ask our CEO to turn your avatar into a BNPederson monkey avatar thing.
We should do as much admin junk as possible beforehand. I wonder if there's a way to organize this over Google Docs? Maybe a public spreadsheet, each tab a Room? Or Room / timeslot?
BTW, thinking about last year... We need hosts/organizers for events. Locked in times. If we run over, we cut it off. And a pre-defined schedule vs. pickup groups for the big events.
Also, for bracket contests, a way to determine the winner based on points / chips earned / matches won overall.
Lastly, no responses from my contacts so far.
I seriously hope we can arrange a midwest carpool extravaganza, as I don't think I can convince the wife to sign off on airline tickets unless the price dramatically drops.

So presuming I will be able to go, who else can we swing? I'm assuming 4 is the maximum number for a comfortable road trip here, maybe 5 if its just for a quick leg. I will be alone or maybe with one friend. Then you. That leaves us 1-2 spots to fill.

Ok, let me get this straight, Mike. Your suggestion is that I force people to not play the consoles? I'll... take that under advisement.
Exactly. Precisely. Brilliant.
Ok, not really. I want folks to play what they want to play, of course, but it seemed like the focus of the last one was primarily console gaming. There was a big room for Rock Band, and the main room was basically console stations. There was a conference room for board games. Granted, no one was playing them either. I suppose I'm just hoping for more board gamers to attend, really.
As far as travel, first come first serve riding Female Doggo. I do have a sissy bar and a solid frame you can snuggle up to. You can feel secure hugging my back and screaming in my ear.

Conejote is in KC as well, and I think there are a couple in St. Louis. Where is your starting location? Still Norman?
Its Norman for now, but that may change to OKC or I dunno somewhere depending on if I get a job after graduation.

Come out West for one of the upcoming HedgeCons. We are the Mecca for board gaming.
