\"CD/DVD Emulation Detected\" fix 4 SplinterCell:PT

Marlin found This Thread that contains a fixed exe for Pandora Tomorrow that bypasses the ludicrous Nazi Safedisc CRAP that Ubi foisted off on an unsuspecting public with the 1.01 patch. Yay!!!!

This is NOT a NoCd crack unfortunately but does allow one to play Splinter Cell Multi without having to virtually re-format to expunge whatever programs Ubi has decreed are possessed by Satan.

I just installed it and it works for me. I heartily recommend that you all do the same so I can still play with y'all. Otherwise I'll have to revert to 1.0 even though 1.01 does work for me now!

The lobby is nicer in 1.01 and the weapons seem to be balanced a bit better. Supposedly more stable but I didn't play long enough to vouch for that.

Any who are willing to take the plunge to 1.01 reply here so we all know which version to settle on.

*Edited title multiple times in attempt to find something that fit*

Erm. Uhhh.. listen. I know the patch gives errors about drive emulation stuff running but I had no less than two such programs installed (and one running) on my computer when I tried the patch and it worked fine. Some people without any of that sort of stuff on their comps installed the patch and got the ""no virtual drive allowed"" errors.

It''s a bug, not a security measure. I won''t be installing the patch until there''s a new one out.

Bug, security measure, communist plot, call it what thou wilt. I couldn''t play version 1.01 before because I got the error, now I don''t.

I have no doubt in my mind that their safedisc implementation is grievously bugged but the removal of any such check fixes the error for me.

I don''t have the confidence in Ubi that you do in this regard. Seems to me they want to ram this copy protection scheme down everyone''s throats regardless of what feedback they get (or whether it works) and I fully expect to see the same problem in whatever next patch they create.

Copy Control audio discs cause legions of problems with some cd players (including 2 players that I own) yet EMI here in Canada insist on releasing every disc in their catalog with this profoundly flawed implementation, actually forcing people to download the mp3s to get a playable version of the music they bought.

I don''t know what kind of backlash it''ll take to stop corporations from going down this road.

Regardless of all this, if no one here is going to switch (and they''ll likely follow you) I''ll switch back to 1.0 like I said in the original post. (Given that it''s solved my problems I''d prefer to stay 1.01 but not if no one else will)

P.S. As a side note I find it interesting that the link above is on the official Splinter Cell boards, contains a link to an altered exe of their Intellectual Property and hasn''t been deleted. Maybe Ubi are listening to their public, or tacitly acknowledging there is a problem after all?

Nope, they just don''t pay any attention to their boards becaue they could not care less what their customers say. That''s the only explanation I can come up with seeing as how they''ve been able to dream up copy protection even more odious than that on Raven Shield.

Honestly, aside from the lobby thing I''m not sure the patch is really worth the headache of having everyone installing it and getting the crack working.

I do however, appreciate your point on the general ridiculousness of Ubi''s patching these days.

I never even bothered with the 1.0 version. After getting the game and installing the 1.1 patch, the very first thing I did was get a sandwich. Then I cracked it and played with cold forged. Honestly the crack doesn''t need anything special, you just copy it in your ""\\Ubisoft\\Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow\\online\\System"" folder. Without the "" '' of course.

Do you know if you used the aforememntioned fix Edwin? The first (and 2nd) NoCd crack for 1.01 I tried wouldn''t work for me in Multiplayer, it''d just CTD instead of giving me the cd/dvd emulation error. The fixed exe from the link at the top is the first that actually works for me and allows me to play multi (with the patch that is). Agreed, it is very simple to implement the fix.
