I almost completely forgot about this game. Looks like they're taking an Action RPG approach to the zombie thriller genre. Definitely on my radar now.

Holy crap. That was super depressing.

The video is fantastic. I'd love to see some gameplay, though.

I can't play L4D anymore; I hope it's the game in particular that burnt me out and not the genre specifically.

Is there a release date, or is 2011 as specific as they've shared with the public?

Oh man that was awesome. And in first-person! I thought sure it was going to be another damn third-person perspective game, but little bits I've seen show that it can be played in the first-person perspective. yes!

Woah. I am SO getting this game.

Also, do we know where that music is from? It's very reminding of Lost in the happy moments, but fits nicely into the action sequences.

Tagging for later. Very depressing.

Okay, the whole zombie thing is getting a bit tired these days, but that was brilliantly done. If the game is as creative as the trailer they've put together for it then it'll be fan-bleeding-tastic (no pun intended).

I stumbled upon this after Duncan Jones twitted about it praising the trailer for its grim tone. Saw the trailer without audio, truly haunting material, looking forward to this.

I heard that it was "haunting" because a child dies, and at first I sighed. I've seen a lot of people try to go for the "dude, we're going to be so TWISTED!" (i.e. punting mutated babies in Dead Space 2) and just come off as gross or inappropriate. Throw zombies into the mixture and there's no way in Hell it's going to be serious.

...then I watched the trailer, and, well, damn.

Damn.

It's as if they watch The Walking Dead then made this trailer. Oversaturated Zombie market or not, I am interested in seeing how this game develops.

I love how they did the trailer. At first I was thinking WTF, but then there was a moment of Oh.. that's cool, which was followed with a more emphatic Damn, that's cool.

Jesus... That was powerful.

It's an epic trailer.

That said, I'm just so very tired of zombies

Some developers must be in such a pickle right now.

From what I understand, Dead Island has been in development for over 5 years, off and on. Back then, the genre was fresh. Now it's just overburdened under its own weight.

I feel bad for studios out there who started zombie projects 2 and 3 years ago who are still working on these types of games.

I think developers should take all their in-progress zombie games and just reskin the zombies, turning them into robots. At this point I would probably be more likely to buy them.

Wow, that was rough. Tagged.

Incredible trailer, and from a technical standpoint if the character animations in the game are anything even close to that, well, wow. A couple of times it almost felt like I was watching live action.

Watched it forward and backward. My wife got up and left the room.

Given that this game is coming from an at-best B publisher, the trailer's damn impressive. They're either planning to put some hard PR money behind this game or they just happen to have a masterful video producer on staff. This is also being developed by the guys who did the Call of Juarez games which also sends my interest sky high. Can't wait to see more.

Like most game developers, I'm sure these guys went to Blur or someplace to have this made solely for promotion.

Bummed out.

Whoa. Impressive trailer. If the game is as good, it'll be a definite buy.

Yup. I think the first, and last, I heard of this game was a magazine article years ago. Wait and see, I suppose.

Heh, Vinny from Giant Bomb did a mash up with "Mad World" and posted it on Twitter. Ice T put it on his channel:

Watching that just leaves me wondering what it would be like with the original TFF version of Mad World...

But that's mostly because I'm an old fart, and can't hear the Donnie Darko version without thinking it sounds wrong, because I've heard the original eleventy billion more times than it.

Wow - yah.

Gah. What a trailer.

I'm an old fart too, and consider myself fairly jaded in many respects. Nevertheless, I'm also noticing that as my own kids grow, seeing children in horror or violent scenes gets me more and more. Not in an "ooh powerful, dude" way. More like nausea.

That 3 minutes was better than the entire first season of The Walking Dead. Wow.

Impressive trailer aside (and it is damn impressive) I just hope this doesn't just become a Left 4 Dead clone with some bolted-on RPG elements.

This is my fear too. I just don't see how a game can live up to that kind of trailer in terms of emotive force, especially with zombies.
