Looks great. The only thing giving me pause is map size. Would much rather have some space to move around in.

I think it looks really interesting.

The previews saying that gameplay is extremely polished may make this a day one purchase for me (or first week rather, since I'll still be in Japan the day it releases).

I suspect it will be CoD sized maps from what it's looking at. Gameplay wise, this looks to be closest to Crysis 2 with the mobility stuff. But for some reason, I have higher hopes for this one. The customization stuff alone sets it apart from most shooters.

This and Homefront are my two shooters of interest in the first half of the year.

I'm not so sure with the Crysis comparison, I think it's objective based which makes more sense to me given SD's Enemy Territory history. There seems to be less of an emphasis on the objectives compared to ET, but it's not a straight deathmatch.

I meant movement mechanics, not necessarily game types. The ability to go over and under things, etc.

I guess it's not certain yet, but I'd compare it to the free running and climbing all over the environment of Assassin's Creed. The part I love about the SMART video, and other trailers is that the characters are actually touching the environment, a small thing but how many games do characters move around without touching anything. Take a stairwell and you're using the hand rail, moving around any building you're not just walking around it, but touching all parts of it, and if you're running around as in a fast paced game you're grabbing all sorts of things to change your course and keep going. If BRINK can deliver that character-environment interaction I'll be impressed.

But AC is a third person action game. Navigation looks very similar to what you can do in the Crysis game. Yes, Brink probably has more stuff. Maybe somewhere between Crysis and Mirror's Edge.

Less Assassin's Creed, more Mirror's Edge.

I've been super stoked about this one for a while now, got my copy on pre-order and am looking forward to competitive co-op campaign action.

Brink is certainly one of my must have games for this year. I just wish they'd show more media. To their credit have an ordinary amount so far.

I feel dumb. Sorry for the duplicate thread.

Perfectly understandable. The site search doesn't work well. I always do it from google or bing with the "site:gamerswithjobs.com" parameter.

crap, wrong thread.

Interview:

Looks like they're going to allow full remapping of console controllers. Nice.

I really like the reduced emphasis on killing but that's not going to fix the real problem. People have been trained to protect their K:D ratios, no matter how insignificant (or detrimental) that is.

PUSH THE DAMN CART, GUYS.

That is nice, but it's sad that controller remapping can still be touted as a distinguishing feature.

Agreed. I posted a thread about this recently.

New interview over at GameTrailers. Very energetic guy who asserts there will be no one-hit kills. Not from grenades. Not from headshots. Not from sniper rifles. If that sounds like a big FU to the snipers... he pretty much says that too. He says for every one sniper there is having a great time, there are five people he's made miserable, and if they have a problem with how Brink is going to handle that then they can go play pretty much any other FPS, ever.

It's about time someone finally noticed that.

I really dislike the lack of one-shot kills (headshots anyone? shotgun fire from 2m?) but it's a small drawback. It would only make me really care about it if they allow for one-hit knife kills. Other than that, still looking forward to playing the game and I hope that it's good enough so I can play it after BF3 comes out.

Didn't surprise me too much. They're making a team objective FPS which seems to rely heavily on cooperative play. I don't think I've heard a negative word from any press who've played Brink. Can't wait.

I know the lack of one shot kills will rub people the wrong way, but seriously, every FPS game has that. Every single one. Even if Brink is worse for it, it'll be different, and as someone who's sick of dying every 10 seconds - someone who isn't very good at FPSs - that's music to my ears.

My prayers have been answered.

You prayed about Brink?

I'm happy to hear about the reduced power of the sniper player; however I dread the ensuing rant from my roommate when he finds out.

I prayed for a game with no snipers. This is close enough.

I thought there will still be sniper rifles, just not one hit kills. Isn't this the case in Halo or any other game like it? Watching the videos almost gives me that kind of vibe, like a Quake or Halo but with guns that only shoot lead. Although, I do hope that they don't mean a close up headshot won't be a kill.

The more and more I watch videos of this game the more I want to play it. They just need to stop the videos or put out a demo!

For some reason, I was skeptical of this game. After watching that video, I'm sold.

In Halo any shot to the head is a one-shot kill once their shields are down; a sniper rifle is a one-hit kill (to the head) regardless.

This is kind of what I'm hoping brink will be since they haven't really been clear. What I don't want to happen is to blast someone point blank in the head with a shottie and have them not die. I know that they said no one-shot kills but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they just mean no insta-kill body shots.

Edit: There is also the state when they are not dead but lying wounded . Maybe this has something to do with their no-one shot kill statement.
